  1. Awesome fish man!
  2. ...after its been eaten by your dog. The picture only shows the biggest pile. Whiting Silver Saddles: Dark Dun, Grizzly (small sizes), Grizzly (medium sizes), Grizzly Dyed Olive Howards Hackle: Larger size Grizzly Saddle And the one I'm most PO'ed about: Whiting Gold Saddle custom dyed Pale Yellow for Green Drakes. Not easy to replace. And here's the guilty party with a $300 tummy ache.
  3. I tied a couple bunny-strip flies for bulls last year and was not really impressed. They didn't really add any action to the flies at all, although in hindsight I think it was most likely because they were probably too heavy/bulky. I also found out the hard way that if you put the fly away with any moisture around the magic head it will rust the hook eye quite badly. I'm sure they will probably work just fine on lighter/sparser patterns but for bigger fuller streamers I found them useless. In my opinion, I think articulated streamers are the way to go if you are looking for side to side action or wiggle in your streamers. I tied and fished them quite a bit last year as well and they really converted me. Hope this helps.
  4. That's great news ADC. Two lakes in each zone would be a great start.
  5. Here is the best link I could find to the weaving technique and the fly is actually very similar: Pott's Weave this link also shows the weave: Pott's Weave 2 Hope this helps.
  6. It looks like the latex is woven with ostrich herl. I tie a Shane Stalcup caddis nymph that use's a very similar technique. It's actually a pretty simple weave to do - just don't ask me to put it into words! I'll try find a link for a description though. Sweet find with the website by the way, thanks for sharing.
  7. Greatest. Video. Ever.
  8. Definately one of my all time faves. Cool vid.
  9. Not sure of a link to tying instructions but it's on one of Kelly Galloups DVD's - T&A Rainbow. I'm sure he'll be tying some up at the Expo in January as well.
  10. I started at around 10, so its been about 20 years for me.
  11. Yes, its white marabou palmered around the shanks and then a topping of olive and pink for the sides. I'd stick to bunny strips for pike though, these would be thrashed after only one fish.
  12. Great shots, thanks.
  13. Thats awesome man. Looks like a killer.
  14. I have not tried tubes yet but I tied up a bunch of articulated streamers last winter and they were phenominal this past season. Most fish were hooked on the trailing hook and I lost far fewer fish than with standard streamers. Having that smaller stinger hook at the back definately does make a difference in regards to keeping fish on the line. The best producer by far was the T&A, I've got to say this is the best streamer I've ever used and it's incredibly easy to cast too. This is the original rainbow version but I also tie it in olive and a mottled grey/brown.
  15. I grew up with Jarome Iginla in St. Albert. We went to school and used to play baseball together until he left to play for the Blazers. Most people don't know this but he was an excellent baseball player too and if he didnt make it in hockey he was definately good enough to play pro baseball. He is still extremely genuine and down to earth and truly one of the nicest guys you will ever meet. The only bad thing I can say about him is that that he was an Oilers fan when we were growing up.
  16. I was too busy to make it out last year but I'm definately looking forward to getting out to some this winter.
  17. Cool technique.
  18. Ya that sucks, but try leaving your rod at home. I've done that before too.
  19. Who gives a tinker's damn how many hospitals/schools/roads can be built with that money.
  20. Thanks for the info guys.
  21. Does anyone know of any shuttle services on the Elk or is it best to just call a cab? Thanks for any info.
  22. I guess I'll jump in on this one if you still need more people. When will the due date be?
  23. Nice report. I was out there yesterday and could not believe the amount of garbage. For a place thats not all that easy to get into it sure is full of trash. Lots of the usual beer cans, bags, poaching paraphernalia, etc, but also some pretty weird stuff as well. Strangest find was a doll that was wedged between a couple rocks. It was kind of spooky looking up and seeing a pair of big blue eyes staring back at me until I realized what it was. Then a bit farther downstream there was a stuffed teddy bear on the bank. Where does all this crap come from? As for the fishing, I only headed down with my 6wt and a couple boxes of streamers. I missed one bull and nothing else was interested in the big flies I was tossing. Luckily I found a CDC caddis and a hopper in one of my pockets and I managed a few decent cutts but they were few and far between. I walked about 3km and only found three pools with active fish.
  24. I'm pretty sure I've seen it at Wholesale or Russels.
  25. Looks awesome man, especially the October caddis.
