  1. Great shots, thanks.
  2. Thats awesome man. Looks like a killer.
  3. I have not tried tubes yet but I tied up a bunch of articulated streamers last winter and they were phenominal this past season. Most fish were hooked on the trailing hook and I lost far fewer fish than with standard streamers. Having that smaller stinger hook at the back definately does make a difference in regards to keeping fish on the line. The best producer by far was the T&A, I've got to say this is the best streamer I've ever used and it's incredibly easy to cast too. This is the original rainbow version but I also tie it in olive and a mottled grey/brown.
  4. I grew up with Jarome Iginla in St. Albert. We went to school and used to play baseball together until he left to play for the Blazers. Most people don't know this but he was an excellent baseball player too and if he didnt make it in hockey he was definately good enough to play pro baseball. He is still extremely genuine and down to earth and truly one of the nicest guys you will ever meet. The only bad thing I can say about him is that that he was an Oilers fan when we were growing up.
  5. I was too busy to make it out last year but I'm definately looking forward to getting out to some this winter.
  6. Cool technique.
  7. Ya that sucks, but try leaving your rod at home. I've done that before too.
  8. Who gives a tinker's damn how many hospitals/schools/roads can be built with that money.
  9. Thanks for the info guys.
  10. Does anyone know of any shuttle services on the Elk or is it best to just call a cab? Thanks for any info.
  11. I guess I'll jump in on this one if you still need more people. When will the due date be?
  12. Nice report. I was out there yesterday and could not believe the amount of garbage. For a place thats not all that easy to get into it sure is full of trash. Lots of the usual beer cans, bags, poaching paraphernalia, etc, but also some pretty weird stuff as well. Strangest find was a doll that was wedged between a couple rocks. It was kind of spooky looking up and seeing a pair of big blue eyes staring back at me until I realized what it was. Then a bit farther downstream there was a stuffed teddy bear on the bank. Where does all this crap come from? As for the fishing, I only headed down with my 6wt and a couple boxes of streamers. I missed one bull and nothing else was interested in the big flies I was tossing. Luckily I found a CDC caddis and a hopper in one of my pockets and I managed a few decent cutts but they were few and far between. I walked about 3km and only found three pools with active fish.
  13. I'm pretty sure I've seen it at Wholesale or Russels.
  14. Looks awesome man, especially the October caddis.
  15. Floated from the weir to Glenmore today and saw a handful of dead rainbows in that stretch too. At least we are supposed to be getting some rain and cooler temperatures this week.
  16. Cool looking tie.
  17. Lead is banned in National Parks, but for now you can still use it in Alberta waters.
  18. Nice to see you got something on the fly, sounds like a blast. I really like that first pic.
  19. Nice report. Are you catching any on the fly?
  20. I really enjoyed the John Fogerty concert last weekend, its right up there for me. The Hip always put on a good show and U2 in 1997 was pretty good too. For a smaller venue, The Hugh Dillon Redemption Choir (former lead singer of The Headstones) two years ago in Edmonton. Not a really well known guy but he has an incredible stage presence and has to be the coolest MOFO to ever walk the face of the earth. You have to love a lead singer who will actually reach into the crowd and smack people upside the head when they start acting like idiots.
  21. Don't just focus on NZ and forget about the fishing in Australia. This site should be a good start: http://www.flylife.com.au/ Also if you have not already read it "Wooly Worms and Wombats" was a pretty entertaing book with lots about the flyfishing in Australia. It was written by the same guy that wrote "Due North Of Montana". Have fun on your trip, I'm jealous.
  22. Jim Cuddy was really good too although his set was pretty short. Mostly played his solo stuff but he did do an extended version of Five Days In May that was pretty cool.
  23. Nice report and pics. You know its been a scorching summer when a +25 day is relief.
  24. Sorry, wrong section. I was admiring all the photo reports before I posted and forgot to click on general chat.
  25. Anyone else go to the concert last night? I thought it was one of the best shows I've ever seen. The guy can still rock and he had the whole placed pumped the entire night. Great show.
