  1. No doubt handcrafted Boo's are far better. Don, before the days of glass rods, all of them were Boo and not out of the price range of the average angler. How did they do it back then? Or was $20 back then equal to $1000 today?
  2. I can do some weaves, others need a lot more practice. I can wait for the video. Please, PM me if I miss it. I really like the uniformity of those flies. They look like they would be very effective, too. Thanks.
  3. That is just gorgeous. Wow. But I think I like Tango's woven flies better. He wouldn't happen to have a SBS on those, would he?
  4. Less then then your new Sage. Boo Rod - Cheap
  5. Buzzbomb. Whats up with that?
  6. Toolman. I have to ask. Seriously? Thats one hell of a story. Imagined or real.
  7. Ain't that the truth. Actually, every angler never ties of bragging to anyone that will listen, but a dad is special. My dad's been gone for over 10yrs but I still think of him almost every day. Your story really brought back some fond memories. Thanks.
  8. Thats a nice tie. I dead drift soft hackles with surprising results. My favorite is the hares ear soft hackle that I tied for one of the swaps we had. I bet you can't wait to give them a try.
  9. You're not the only I know praising this fly. I actually bought a couple of these patterns (rare for me) to try. Nice SBS, DBT and good looking result. Thanks for taking the time.
  10. Thats a good one, Taco. Happy, happy, Dave.
  11. Binoculars.....
  12. How would they get the hole started? Must be a 4 piece auger?
  13. That is fantastic, Don. Freaking fantastic. Your a good man to have around.
  14. Guides don't know everything (How long do they go to school? What tests do they have to pass and what governing body approves their credentials?) and just because everyone does it, doesn't make it right. You are correct in wanting to see studies. So do I. But I want to see studies saying its okay to handle them by the gill plates too. Lacking those, I'll try to be as gentle I as can.
  15. Jeremy. That is a killer "touché". I was going to say "...if GCC is man made and if CO2 (.0054% of the atmosphere) alone is the major contributor and if mankind's measly contribution amounts to more then a spit in the ocean, then this guy makes sense." but I think you summed it up better. Think of it this way, if everyone thought like this guy (ie: just do it, just in case), can you imagine how easily manipulated the populace would be (or should I say more easily)?
  16. Even the natives immigrated to North American. They just did it a long, long time ago.
  17. I think I would feed a small village for 6mo's instead of succumbing to such extravagance.
  18. Excellent presentation. I'm assuming you and/or your dad lost a lot of flies on your backcasts?
  19. Ya. Me too. Especially my relatives in the SEK. They tell me to get over it and bend over (Ooops. I mean pay up) but as they say, time wounds all heels.
  20. Thats too bad because: The third floor has wives that love sex and have money and are extreemely good looking. The fourth floor has wives that love sex, have money, are extreemely good looking and always, always say "Yes Dear". The fifth floor has wives that love sex have money, are extreemely good looking and always, always say "Yes Dear" and love to fish. I never got to the sixth floor. (Yes, Fishhead. I know. You too, eh? :-))
  21. Best used during spawning season?
  22. Charge us $5/yr and them $20/day. Say its all about the fish. That will fly with some of them anyway. Enough of them to make it profitable.
  23. I really like that last fly. Very creative and boy, does it look buggy. You'll have to describe how you put those eyes in. They look like glass beads.
  24. You're my kinda angler, Yoda.
  25. Another great idea. I used the same type of hackle pliers and the slow part is in the twisting. Those would make it much easier. That bodkin is grade A.
