  1. u got it dude. them big ferox run the show and dominate a spot.. if there is another it will be the partner(female) but other than that there wont be another mega broonie anywere close too that holding water...
  2. will second the whistler line.. bin loving it on my goran the swingin on the bow once i got use too it! giving it a go tommorow down south with some mid sized bully flies too!
  3. yup happy b-day boo.... i mean dub d!!!!!!!!!!
  4. im with the others. buy a decent vice and tools and get some materials for 2 or 3 flies i know you use and start there.. some of teh simpler or "basic" flies would be hares ear, wooly bugger, clouser minnow, pheasent tail.... i think elk hair caddis are great for a first dryfly it gets u use too messing with deer hair, hackling a body etc. then step up too copper johns prince nymphs kauffman stones stimulartors etc.... pick up a book or two too... when you buy hooks i would recommend staying away from mustad.. they are the cheapest but daichii or dai riki are worth the extra cash.. same with hackle for dryflies.. buy a good "grizzley" hackle it might seem like a waste of money but a real nice half cape will get you 50 time more usable feathers than the cheapest one. dotn worry abotu colored hackle unless u feel you need it.. the fish dotn care in all dries i only use grizzley... take your time get use too teh pattern then worry abotu speed after.. your first few if not few dozen will look "brutal" mine sure as hell were but in time u will get your head around things and be dreaming up new things all teh time!
  5. sorry too jack the thread rick... but like yea!! how the hell do u do a 180 then into the other street into reverse and keep on going.... like wtf..... i almost fell over in disbelief....unreal!
  6. right on and thanks dude! figured i shall eltcha know there is light at the end of this cold dark snowy tunnel.. if the weather stays good and that chinook hit us on teh weekend we shall be laughin for a week or more ice flow wise!
  7. great game tonight.. we owned em in the 1st and with only a few dumbass giveaways that cost us it was a great game! what was with teh ref's tho? some serious "roughin" minors there...
  8. that roof avalanche was insane dude! but what if up with opening your door and trying too slow your vehile down with your feet? people should quite life! but the last driving clip took teh cake.. that first dude was f*ckin insane.... must jsut bin freaking out with the foot on the gas? wutta yall think? unreal footage taco!
  9. not cool dude! wish u well and hope she aint too serious! right when the chinook roles in none the less!!! u will be fishin by the weekend! worse case just hook em and start backing up or strip line in with your teeth!
  10. headed on down too the bow this morning and met by buddy mike for our first trip of 09 -9C when we got there and warmed up to -5. slush was minimal but increased slowly through the day. when we got back too teh truck just before sunset. was a good day and we knocked off a few things for hte year first trout, first bow, first broonie, first cracka feesh, first double header, first tangle, first beast broken off, 20+incher and first tangle!.. was a stellar day with a dozen between us on the day! enjoy...
  11. condoms make the best nymph skin! michaels has unlimited supplies of marabou, chenille, antron.. beedshops are killer too!
  12. all fish are like that i think dude! top feeding spots are guarded by the top fish! bucktails closuers double bunnies and other fish patterns work great over here
  13. that is sweet dude! we have some ferox forsure aswell! and germans (havnt really seen a pure on etho) thanks for posting!
  14. OHHH HELLS YEAA!!!!!!!
  15. i fish 2-4 inch flies for all trout.. caught most of my biggest cutties on bulltrout flies and have hit some big browns and bows on bulltrout and pike flies too.... trippiest for me this year was fishing a 8-9" deciever on teh bow for pike and i figured i hooked a little one.. when a mid 20s bow came blasting out of the water with the fly in its mouth! blew me away... thing was over 1/3 its size! i havnt really ever tied or fished streamers smaller than 2inches..... even for brookeis this year a few buddies and i were hookin 10-12inch fish on # 6 streamers in teh 2inch range! lots of people do fish smaller stuff too.. opens up a better range of fish size for you too hook! on teh bow i almost always fish a 3-4inch range
  16. u and me both dude! love them 2!
  17. i hear ya there dude.. his show is different from survivor man in a few ways tahts forsure.. he does alot more extreme stuff and shows alot more risky situations wich are sweet but without a filmcrew medics n whatnot right next too him i doubt he would do any of taht stuff... wich makes teh show pretty sweet! survivor man is dope too mainly because that dude roughs it on his own and actually roughs it for a week! wich i give madd props too!
  18. i would stick with the fishcats!
  19. uve got it dude he is a nut!
  20. agreed! wont got anywere with out them in the winter anymore!
  21. yea the livingstone was the other spot i belive were the other person died
  22. cool pics dudes! is that a centre pin or spey in the last and first photo?
  23. ye ai agree with flyfisherfairwx they should remain teh same.. there has bin a few opening days that have teh streams so high they are barely fishable and way more dangerous than the bow or other lower gradient streams in runff(wich are still can be deadly) if u were too open up in early april like some of teh browntrout streams that wouldnt be too bad but the fish would be sluggish..... if u want early season cutties go hit the elk!
  24. take a drive out and go look at most of the streams that are closed right now.. u coudlnt wet a line even if you wanted too.. the bow the crow and a few others places that u halfto search out on your own.....that are open right now... and they are really the only bodies of water that do not have ice on them... mianly because of bottom drawn dams/water treatment making them icefree... all the other cutty streams n whatnot are frozen completely solid across the top right now so it wouldnt make a difference anyway... and the reason why i figure they are not open during runoff/break up would be cutt/rainbow spawning times.... hope that helps dude. i thikn the regs are set almost perfect for those reasons
  25. thats is cool dude!
