  1. Stop at TC Outfitters in Red deer for materials. Check out Central Alberta Fly Tying Club for details. Excellent selection.

  7. Pretty tight lipped group...................................
  8. Hello; Just got back from Bob at Stream Weavers today, and bought a couple boxes. Small individual lids / compartments to hold #20 BWO's. Do you Hoolios prefer individual compartment or the big foam hook in style boxes? Just Curious. Thanks
  9. Thank you very much for the info, and the PM's it has been helpful.
  10. A budy and I are going to Cuba soon, we are wondering about Rod rentals. The spot we are going to is out of the way and do not offer quality Rods or Fly's. The Fly's and leaders are not an issue however we do not want to purchase rods for just one trip. I am taking my 6wt for bones but am looking for a 11 or 12 for larger Tarpon. Has anyone been through this dilemma? Please advise. Thanks

  12. Thanks for your ongoing work on thearea streams Don. For the last few years I have cursed my favorite stretches of that creek with the sudden high population of Dams, ( >7 in a .5 mile stretch). Numbers have drastically decreased partially due to "native species" ie Beaver, Otter, Cattle ... worms.... etc. Thanks for your ongoing efforts and information.

  14. I spent a couple years working at CNRL Horizon directly for CNRL as a construction coordinator, working during the early days of site prep / process construction. CNRL based the entire Horizon project on a production cost of $30/ Barrel. Profit was anything above that. I read the reports. I was also told its approx $13K to $15 profit per 797 truck of raw tar sand. These bad boys run 365 24 / 7, I am not sure how many loads are dumped into the crusher per hour but it is lots.
  15. I am sure this has been covered here before, but I am requesting clarification the age old creek / land access laws. I know the following; 1. Ask permission onto private land.(given) 2. Is it free access to the high water mark on a creek or to the " change in riparean vegetation". Can I walk along the edge of a creek? Or do I need to stay in the creek? Thanks
  16. They will sell em for the deposit they pay. The local car wash sold me two white plastic 45gallon drums for $15 each. I figure it was cheap considering home despot they are aaround a hundred.
  17. i am 6'6" and not thin. I wear Dan Baileys XXLK they have a 37" inseam and a 14 ft. I can wear a couple fleeces under these (my winter pair). They should work for him and they are better than Simms and half the price.
  18. My 2 cents on your concrete troubles; 90% of all concrete cracking is due to workmanship. The diagram posted above is excellent but it does not tell you how those problems occur. -Spalling and excessive shrinkage cracks occur from too high a slump when placed (easier for the finishers). - Incorrect placement of expansion joint / sawcuts. - Not kept wet during initial cure ( 2 to 7 days) - Insufficient mesh placement or used mesh instead of rebar. Most of the time I see the mesh or bar laying on the gravel were it is useless. - If you recall in Edmonton last year there where literally 100's of driveways and steps that literally crumbled from particular reputable home builders who were all using the same general concrete contractor. Inland concrete basically was in the news and said tough luck. Go after your general. - During the salad days a small concrete contractor with a crew of 5 or 6 guys could form and pour around 3 driveways / sidewalks a day if they were good. At around $20K per house +- that is pretty good coin. Worst of all I believe you still only have a one year warranty on new homes. Not much happens now a days at -20C. My two cents
  19. A reminder before you hoolio's gp shopping for your wives. "Dual Bag" http://link.brightcove.com/services/player...ctid=3130509001
  20. Hello; I am shopping for a new vest. My last was a higher end fishpond pack style that lasted about 5 years. Zippers blew and I no longer like all the tag ends were line always catches on. I am leaning towards a Simms G3 any opinions? Maybe other models? Thanks in advance
  21. I in the bizz....... make sure you do 2 coats, contact northland construction supplies and ask for type of sealer. No I do not work for them
  22. Did you forget to shave yer back?
  23. I was wondering if any of you Mudflaps ever have had your fly line depart from your backing mid fish or cast? It hasnt happened to me. It would be funny to see....on someone else.......
  24. There is an interesting method to preparing these fish. A buddy nails the head to a board slices the skin around the "neck" area and then peels the whole thing back over the tail with pliers. They did taste very good.
  25. Just a reminder to the Calgary folks......make sure you cover your keyboard with plastic after the ESKIMO'S beat Calgary today, the tears of defeat could damage your computer.
