  1. Absolutely stunning.
  2. Which Dyna King are you tying on these days Leroy. Always liked the look of that vice.
  3. Something I like to do is about three quarter through the swing drop back about a foot of line and jerk forward. Kind of like small hops. Learned this technique from my parents who loved wet fly fishing.
  4. His book Oliver Edwards' Flytyers Masterclass is a real joy.
  5. I havea Redington Red storm Jacket. Not the highest end one out there but it fit nicely into my budget. Lots of pockets and comfy.
  6. Easy Search the forum for for fly tying vices, there have been many posts with this question. do a bit of research. 1) Go to a good fly shop 2) let them pick out the vices in your price range 3) Try a couple and see which one you like. Enjoy tying, lots of good fices out there.
  7. Never noticed that on My Islander. Last fall my LX4 spent 3 days in the water and rain, sitting outside the cabin most days and taking many prolonged dips. It never gave me an ounce of trouble with some brutal salmon.
  8. Tie on before, just knot them in place then whip some tying thread around them. By the way this post should be moved to the fly tying area.
  9. I'm also in the "depends on the time of year and river" bunch. I actually have about 6 boxes filled with various flies for not only rivers and lakes but also different provinces and species (Steelhead and different trout) some loaded in separate vests. I normally carry 1 to 3 boxes (wets & nymphs dries and streamers). Also have boxes that key on season. Talk about anal.
  10. I might be wrong but its a way too big a book for spiral binding. Pretty massive book.
  11. I agree spring pike are a real rush.
  12. Beauty fish, thanks for posting. Darn I have to wait till fall.

  14. A big Mac with several hairs in it that I bought in Golden. Thought it was stringy onions at first.
  15. Aw.... go ahead, push the button.
  16. The ones I buy are from Hairline. They label them as Snowshoe Rabbit also but they are nice footsies with big toes. Float nice.
  17. I'm also curious.
  18. I'm actually on my third copy. That's the trouble with having 3 sons.
  19. My wife was just diagnosed with type II. Like Jack she has had no typical symptoms. We have changed our diet (I'm following the same eating habits as her which is good) and she is now just on pills. We are learning ot live a different life style.
  20. By the way, here's a tip to get to the best fur on the foot simply "crack" open the foot. Do this by placing a flat blade screwdriver between the "toes" of the foot and prying them apart splitting the foot open. You will now have easy access to the longest and best fur.

    Goodbye

Sorry to hear of your loss. It diminishes us all when a fly fisher passes.
  22. It's been a valued book in my library for years. Recommend it also.
  23. Actually Leroy the other thing I love it for is for wings for Wulff dry flies (by the way welcome to the site).
  24. Don't tie dries with them but I love them for emergers and fuzzy body flymphs.
