  1. Thanks for the info Glenbow. The Kananaskis river is a perfect example of mismanagement, and I curse TransAlta every time I pass by it. No one would be creating a new trout stream, but rather taking a step to return a stream to it's natural state. Glad to see they might FINALLY doing something about it. Please let us know what we can do to help when you know more.
  2. Incredible pics. Thanks for sharing.
  3. Sweet cutt man!
  4. My dad and I went fishing often when I was young, and now I have the opportunity to return the favor by teaching him to fly fish. Many memories, but the one that stands out most was when we hiked up the Bow west of Cochrane, and while crossing a train trussel had our own "Stand By Me" experience, sprinting back down the train tracks while he tried to carry the dog. We never caught much, and rarely cared.
  5. Boo to that. Have fun "rebuilding", Oilers fans! Playfair is a mediocre coach, I'm glad the Flames have a mean SOB on the bench who won't put up with slackers.
  6. Awsome pics Brownstone. Where is that second one?
  7. That's okay, you can bet I've had enough of stocked ponds already. I've been to just about every one around the city in the past 3 weeks, now I'd like to catch some real trout.
  8. Grab a pack and go, man. Nothing beats finding your own little piece of cutthroat heaven.
  9. Well isn't that clever.
  10. Combined inches of your one biggest brown and one biggest 'bow, documented with photos, and a poll to pick the winner, just so Toolman and Max don't have to wade around with metre-sticks all summer. Russells is having a 2007 fishing derby, enter any time, ends Sept. 30, you enter 2 pics of a fish, one with you and one with a tape measure, and you can enter one fish for each species of Alberta sportfish. Adult division is fly tackle only in public waters. Best of all, it's free.
  11. Mmmm... fresh brook trout and cheap rye, that's living large.

    Nice bull man!
  13. I saw guys doing the same thing on Saturday. They didn't stand there long, but especially with all the rain out there, probably not a good idea. Not for suckers at least.
  14. Does anyone know why the Spray tribs don't open until July? Just curious.
  15. Heh! You missed the bus by weeks man. I was there two weeks ago and couldn't spot one. I took my girlie to Sibbald. Her first fish ever, a cuttie on the fly. She's already casting better than me. It's funny watching people fish Lorette all day, when you can clearly see there are no fish at all.
  16. Too bad they don't update when they're fished out. Lorrette and McLean are probably done already. Caught a nice fat 20 incher at Sibbald Lake on Monday, didn't expect anything so large out of there. Nobody quite understood why I would put a fish back in the water.
  17. Leaving the fly in is always better than ripping the trout's innards apart. It sucks when you kill a fish from hooking, but it happens. Think of all the fish you could have legally kept but released anyway, and don't worry about the few incidental kills. No one has a 100% release rate.
  18. I certainly wouldn't try myself. If you do head out, be careful. Seen some BIG debris floating by my house. River looks exactly as you would expect.
  19. Thanks for your work on the new board. Looks great!

  20. Nope, and I still haven't gotten the 12' rigged up for the new truck. I should get on that.
  21. Wow. Those are spectacular. I'm still figuring out the wireworm.
  22. Good stuff Scott. Catch anything?
  23. I've got the whole week off, so I'm going to hit the FTR and drive until I see some decent water, maybe try to find a spring creek or two. Hope everyone enjoys themselves.
  24. How does the Ridgeline cast? When it came out I thought I might grab some, but I've stuck with SA for now. I'm long overdue for a new floating line, and looking at my options.
