  1. When I was in grade school trout unlimited gave us kids paint and stencils and we put fishies on all the drains in Cochrane, but they only last a year or two. At least the kids who do it will remember for life. Good job MarkD.
  2. Thanks Birchy, I was starting to worry that you had run out. Keep 'em coming!
  3. It's a 3.0, quite an adjustment for me, but kind on the wallet.
  4. My gutless 2x4 My real fishing vehicle
  5. Chicks dig scars Birchy. Have hooked my collar far too many times for comfort. Or when you're trying for that extra 10 yards out at Lower and a cone-head smokes you in the back, that's awesome. Eyelid is by far the scariest though, did that once on the Crow with a copper john, tried not to think about it too much. Coznouts, remember that SLOW day at Wedge when we had a casting fight? Good times man, good times.
  6. No one wants to swing with me after a day or two camping.
  7. They are the hosts from Dutch, a very nice couple who have been keeping me warm for many a trip.
  8. Whatever man! Take the sick day from work and throw a line somewhere special.
  9. It's my favorite campground in an area filled with nice campgrounds.
  10. Nice fish guys. That 'bow in the middle is a fatty.
  11. I was referring to the Carseland weir by Strathmore, just turn south from #24 at the thriving metropolis of Carseland. There is all kinds of parking and access at the Bow River Park, but if you only have a day, the more southern portion of the Bow in Calgary might be kinder to you. I often fish right by the Crowchild bridge and typically just catch a few whities.
  12. Lethfisher, the fishing right above the weir is usually quite good, with plenty of road access.
  13. I tried this weekend out by Cochrane and the results were less than successful. They called me back an hour later saying you could use bait in the Ghost reservoir. I explained that while this was true, these guys were using minnows in the river. Just a miscommunication I'm sure, but the whole experience left me feeling like it just wasn't a priority to them. I'm sure they're busy, and I know they can't catch every poacher, but I ALWAYS see guys using bait there, and it steams me so bad.
  14. Great report man, sorry bout the finger but what the hell, you're a tough guy. You might have to show me where those fat cutties are if I ever get a tube.
  15. It's really hard to say without actually timing myself, but I do know a decent net brings them to hand much faster than without. Time kind of stands still for me on anything over 20". Sometimes with a dry on light tippet and a big fish in fast current, it could be a while.
  16. Running a jet boat up the Highwood would be a freakin' blast, but I'm sure they don't do it just for sh*ts and giggles.
  17. No kidding. Think I'll fish by the jogging path along memorial today.
  18. If a trout slips off the hook, I'm just glad I had a chance at least. Like Rob said, you know you're doing something right if you're getting hook-ups. I hardly ever get upset about a lost fish, unless I was in a hurry to hit the water and tied a sloppy knot, then I might mutter a curse or two. You don't want to see my reaction when I forget my fly box though.
  19. Nice fish guys, I never tire of the fish porn, especially fat, colorful 'bows from those lakes.
  20. Congrats SJW. I've just reached the 2 hour point, so I'm heading outside for one.
  21. Now if I could only stop smoking.
  22. Gonna head down for a day at least. It'll be crowded, but I'll go nutty sitting here watching the Bow slowly drop.
