  1. Yeah, like Terry said, it's hardly worth it to throw a fly out here right now. Sorry to hear it man, but we'll save you some trout for next summer.
  2. Nice pic man. I love little brookies, which is good, because I've never caught one bigger than that. Very purty.
  3. Looks like a blast! Those are some huge cutts man.
  4. Twenty six, or, as my mother still tells me, "Old enough to know better".
  5. Bow river; Catch a 25" + 'bow. Cutthroat stream; Fish virgin water. It's gotta be possible, somewhere. This wish could be directly related to my last trip to the Livingstone. Still water; Not smoke a pack of cigarettes while waiting for my indie to bob.
  6. I have fished the northwest I think 7 days of the past 10. How many fishermen have I seen? Two. How many have I had to avoid while I hiked upstream? One. Spread out people! There's great water west of the city too. Not everyone of us has to go to Fish Creek. I don't catch as many large fish as I do downstream of the weir, but I catch a few, without having anyone crowd me out. That being said, I will eventually run into a jerkoff who just HAS to fish ten feet from me, and when that happens I'll find the next hole upstream, maybe smoke one to cool me off, and hopefully show him up with a nice trout to hand.
  7. That bow is almost as long as your boy is!
  8. Brown foam hoppers for Calgary and downstream, Dave's for Cochrane and upstream. There is a huge difference between the naturals you'll find in Carseland and the ones you'll find in Canmore. I don't know if they're different species or what.
  9. The university is very reasonable, I think it's about $40 per day, but you can't try different brands if that's what you're looking to do.
  10. Thanks for the advice guys. Brent, I trimmed the hackle and cut half the legs off a Daves' today, and landed 3 fish out of 6 bites, quite the improvement. Thanks again.
  11. Great pics Wongrs! Thanks for posting those.
  12. I've been having lots of takes on hoppers lately, but it seems like I only hook one out of every ten. They'll chase the hopper right downstream, snapping at it, but not sticking to it. I've been using Daves' hoppers, because I've been fishing mostly Cochrane and upstream, and the hoppers there are light cream color. I was wondering if anyone knows a light pattern that fish stick to? Or is there something I can do to a Daves' hopper, or my technique, that might help me hook a few more of these fish? I've been fishing runs with a hopper to find the fish, then going back through with an Adams to hook some of them. Thanks for any input any of you might have. Mike
  13. Always. Never know when you might drive over a sexy creek, right? That's why I have a locking tonneau cover on my truck, and a good rod and reel case is of course essential. Haven't taken it out during the summer since I drove an hour to a pond and forgot my vest with all my tackle. Cussed like a drunken sailor, but at least I hadn't put on my waders and boots!

    Not too shabby!
  15. Three years, and while I have so much left to learn, I do know I'll never stop (god willing).
  16. I work shifts, which allows for a healthy mixture of the two.
  17. The fruit boots still make him look like a sissy.
  18. If my boss ever goes back and checks my sick days vs. the nicest fishing days, I'm in trouble. Every once in a while I just have to say screw it, grab the gear, and see if I can't get the Oldman to myself.
  19. I'd toss them in a wheelchair and take them to Mt. Lorette if I could, but really, I might be disapointed, but family first.

Nice pics mang, and great timing! From the area you described, I'll bet that's the same "little" black bear I've run into a few times down there. I certainly never had the cojones to stop and take pics though.
  21. I've been hoping he'd pop up here, had some great posts on FFA.
  22. I can certainly agree that neither of us wants pond-stocked perch to overrun the Bow.
  23. On nice days, often Sublime. "summertime and the livings easy". For some reason it's usually Blue Rodeo when I'm on the FTR. I'm a punker, but it just doesn't suit flyfishing.
