  1. Geeez I don't log in for two days and look at all the fun I missed. Any time we can get a group together for fun & fishing I'm in for whatever but just not sure I want to be in a group with a guy who claims to have a yellow stick and nice bum.
  2. Dam I miss the vid before it went private. Anybody got a copy of it some how?
  3. I haven't got into tying just yet. I received my starter kit as as one of the prizes at the Bow River Clean-up but haven't had time to get into it just yet. Thanks for the invite to participate but I will have to ask PMD to pick someone else. Cheers, Chad
  4. I second the Korkers. Boa laces are awesome and the soles can be changed in a matter of minutes to suit your environment.
  5. Rick you are an American and you know who Rita McNeil is? Plus all your new hockey knowledge? Wow I'm starting to think you are almost Canadian.
  6. With regards to your question on how to store several ready to go rigs, I use a type of small spool used to store craft ribbon that my wife gives me when she finishes a spool. Also I plan on keeping empty mono and floro reels as I empty them from now on. I just wrap my rig onto the spools and throw an elastic on and I can have two or three different rigs ready with a loop to loop connection to my line.
  7. I didn't have my camera with me.........which reminds me I got to add one of those waterproof ones to my Christmas List!
  8. It sure was tough to leave but glad I did it now that I have had some time to think back. I guess in a sense I was lucky that I had someone to call.
  9. So I ducked out of work early this aft to hit the river. I was wading through and stumbled across a pod of about 15 fish. I thought I was dreaming because I never have seen this many fish this close before. I had no idea what they were because I'm not that experienced that I can identify fish from a distance. So I cast upstream and BAM 19" Brown in full colours head shakes and jumping like mad. Next case same results only a little bigger. Hmmm I'm starting to get a guilty feeling so I call a friend to confirm if this is what i think it is. Sure is! a bunch of Browns spawning. I turn back and let the romance take it's natural course. So I guess the real reason for the post is to see if you would have done the same or continued? I couldn't believe how easy it was to catch them. Also I was wondering if I would have effected some of the spawning - a few less Brown trout for the future on the Bow?
  10. I have had a chance to fish all the spots you mentioned and honestly I can say they all produced fish for me. Can't say any spot was that much better than another. Tight lines dude.
  11. Awwwwwesome report guys. Welcome back.
  12. Cool pics of that school.
  13. Great pics and thanks for sharing!
  14. A ha! I just learn about this recently (difference between mono and Flouro and how to use them) You sure can use a mono leader with flouro tippet. In fact this is the great set up. The mono provides a little shock absorber while the tippet will sink slightly and provide stealth. As long as you have a descent knot between the flouro and mono this should cause no troubles.
  15. Gordon it was a please to get a chance to walk with you during the clean-up and hear your stories about what real fishing pressure is. It made me really appreciate what we have right here in our back yard. Thanks, Chad

    The Big One

MTB - Very informative. I had the same concerns Ed had a month back, just not hooking into any big fish. I tried to concentrate on perfection of my rig (perfect knots, smaller line, etc.) and it made a bit of difference. Mind you the other day a threw a dry on a nymphing leader because that's all i had with me and caught one of my biggest fish yet. Great Read Thanks!
  17. Again many thanks to Rich & Rob for putting all this together. It was a great day to be out on the river and meet some of the folks that have provided me with valuable information during my first year of fly fishing. Great food, great prizes=great time! BTW I got the prefect prize, the Thompson world class tool kit. I wasn't going to start tying for another year or two but now I have the perfect start so I better get going this winter. I wish I could have stayed to watch the demos but I had parenting duties to get to. I was still a little late helping Brownstone break into his car ......."who says you can't lock the keys in a Jetta!"
  18. I going to try one of these out. thanks dude.
  19. Sounds like this story is shaping up to be a legend
