  1. Looks good Birchy! As a fellow first year guy, you have set the benchmark for me to get into a BIG brown before the end of the season.
  2. The way I understand it the fish can see up, and in front very well but not when you are behind their tails. You mentioned you were beside them so it is possible they spotted you.
  3. After the sun goes down is the best time to attack the nest. All the wasps should be in that one spot for an easy kill shot with raid wasp killer. I know from experience as I had a nasty run in with a nest last year and that took care of them.
  4. Funny. BBT did you get slipped this number last night in the bar?

    My July

I haven’t been able to get out much lately but at least I can enjoy and live vicariously through your guy's posts. Thanks Max.
  6. Conor I was in your shoes not long ago. I stayed close to home on the Bow the last three weeks before the due date. It turned out I was actually fishing when my wife started her labour. It was a Sat morning only two weeks ago on the bow and I “got the call” so I was home in 15 mins. Glad I didn’t venture out farther than that.
  7. Well I guess I was just curious to know if some knot glue would be better than no knot glue. But what I'm hearing is no reason to use it between leader and tippet. Thanks guys.
  8. I was thinking of trying some knot glue on my knots between my leader and tippet when using a dry fly. What are your thoughts on this? I’m worried it might interfere with the presentation or casting. Also wondering if it is buoyant or will it sink the line?
  9. So true! If we have another one I will have to try so we have it during the "off season"
  10. Finally after 9 months I was able to catch this little guy on this past Sunday after a long 25hr fight. First one for me so I am very proud daddy.
  11. How are those river moths? I know from past trips it can get pretty bad out there.
  12. Brent make sure you don't get stopped fishing with that bait
  13. You sure made up for lost time. Good on ya! Nice report.
  14. Lornce I hate to see that happen to nice guys like yourself. Hopefully someone will be able to get this back to you.
  15. Of course there will be many answers to this question and opinions. But you are right track because the less time spent fighting the fish, the better the rate of recovery and chance it will survive. IMO depends on how big and if it runs downstream or not. If you can keep it out of the fast current you should be able to land him quickly. Max/Toolman’s clinic they showed us a method that if you give the fish side pressure by turning your rod to the side, it forces the fish to face upstream and may prevent him to run downstream and into the faster current. Bhurt gave me a re-lesson on this last weekend and I was able to watch him in action will success landing some big ones. Average time for a 22" fish was about 2 minutes. I got a sick feeling to my stomach watching a guy across the river spinning and was catching some fish. It was hard to see exactly the size he caught but must have been at it for a good 10-12 minutes bringing it in.
  16. Harps good point about keeping the fish out of the air temp. Something I might have overlooked and worth noting.
  17. Just curious to know what everyone's thoughts are on how the warm weather this week is going to affect the fishing? Will it dramatically affect catching fish or not?
  18. So I wonder if they guy had a goose egg or......(sorry couldn't help it).... a salmon egg?
  19. Bob IMO that is a great view to look at fishing. For me I get almost as equally excited when my fishing buddy hooks into one. It is pure adrenaline all over when there is a "fish on".
  20. wow you're right that will be big bucks. I would like to do this one day but not this season.
  21. Your right I wouldn't want to miss it. That's why I have strick rules to be in cell range and only an hour away. Plus we have a mid wife helping out so she is ok with me not being by her side 100% of the time.
  22. SJW - Hmmm that explains a lot of the extra time....You Postwhore! But a very good postwhore I might add.
  23. We are having a boy too! Our first and I can't wait! My wife and i were down at the Sheep over the weekend. I was suprised on how well she was able to walk around at 9 months (Just a little slow). Pete you got at least two more months of fishing left buddy.
  24. How far south? I want to! My wife is 9mths prego so the deal is I need to be less than an hour away and in cell range.
