  1. I get " me no speak English " using 4 rods with bait called the warden but they were busy.
  2. The paving should finish up just in time for Canada weekend. 2hrs today Banff to Lake Louise
  3. What I was talking about where the Devon lakes in Clear water pass. 1/2 hr north of Lake Louise that PC spent much of the 1990s reverting them back to cut trout lakes. Now it is illegal to fish them. So I was wondering if it actually worked or not and when will it be concluded a success of failure. Also does anyone know why they closed Fish & Moose lake this year ???
  4. Our " angler program was the Chateau throwing a few bucks for PR more than anything. I don't believe anything short of the absolute unthinkable will eradicate them all. Do you know of any projects like this that worked. Has Clear Water Lakes been proven ???
  5. I was up to Rockbound last year and though the bookies are not large they are some of the best text book examples I have ever come across. Like Peter said wind and casting can be a problem. Best fishing at the point on the other side of the rock garden. When it comes to getting rid of introduced species . Peter I was up to hidden lake last fall and there is still Brookies rising in that water system 5 years later I'm not sure what PC plans to do next ?
  6. Farmer Thought He Overpaid For This Rooster, But Was Shocked When It Did This A farmer has 200 hens, but no rooster, and he wants chicks. So, he goes down the road to the next farmer and asks if he has a rooster which he would sell. The other farmer says, “Yeah, I’ve got this great rooster, named Randy. He’ll service every chicken you got, no problem.” Well, Randy the rooster costs a lot of money, but the farmer decides he’d be worth it. So, he buys Randy. The farmer takes Randy home and sets him down in the barnyard first giving the rooster a pep talk, “Randy, I want you to pace yourself now. You’ve got a lot of chickens to service here, and you cost me a lot of money. Consequently, I’ll need you to do a good job. So, take your time and have some fun,” the farmer said, with a chuckle. Randy seemed to understand, so the farmer points toward the hen house, and Randy took off like a shot. -WHAM!- Randy nails every hen in the hen house – three or four times, and the farmer is really shocked. After that the farmer hears a commotion in the duck pen, sure enough, Randy is in there. Later, the farmer sees Randy after a flock of geese, down by the lake. Once again – WHAM! He gets all the geese! By sunset he sees Randy out in the fields chasing quail and pheasants. The farmer is distraught – worried that his expensive rooster won’t even last 24 hours. Sure enough, the farmer goes to bed and wakes up the next day, to find Randy dead as a doorknob – stone cold in the middle of the yard. Buzzards are circling overhead. The farmer, saddened by the loss of such a colorful – and expensive animal, shakes his head and says, “Oh, Randy, I told you to pace yourself. I tried to get you to slow down, now look what you’ve done to yourself.” Randy opens one eye, nods toward the buzzards circling in the sky and says, “Shhh, they’re getting closer “
  7. A funeral procession pulled into a cemetery. Several car loads of family members followed a black truck towing a boat with a coffin in it. A passer-by remarked, "that guy must have been an avid fisherman." "Oh he still is," remarked one of the mourners. "As a mater of fact, he's headed off to the lake as soon as we bury his wife."
  8. I found this interesting piece not sure if you guys have . "https://activeanglingnz.com/2016/04/the-fluorocarbon-myth"
  9. I have to agree with its what you get use to. I got a 5wt fenwick that I payed $200 for 20 yrs ago and it is still my favourite plastic rod. It can fire out a ton of line or put it 2' from its target. Custom cane 9' 3/2 5wt with new Hendon taper black beauty blanks - classic black beauty wraps - rose wood reel seat and fighting butt. It flexes almost tip to tail and is always the prettiest stick on the water.
  10. It's not bad it's pretty clear and has a real deep run on the right hand side.
  11. Actually I have caught more whitefish there any anything else in past years.
  12. I am cheap and fish a lot. So I have been using Burkley Ice 3lb test fluorocarbon
  13. There's a good chance it will be my last. Walk in with a pocket full of cash and left with the same amount. What a waste of time. Name brand stuff over priced. Selection minimal . Wholesale sports hang on guys they won't last. That's my opinion and not yours.
  14. I am currently looking to replace a Older TU Kennebec float tube That was perfect for clipping to a 45 lt pack. So I never had to deflate it in the 12+ yrs I had. But the intake valves I think are leaking. Yes it was not as comfy as my old Still Water. But worked well. Thanks for the replies it just convinced myself to go with what works for you.
  15. Thanks but I am a little sceptical . There are no pics showing it in use head on. I have used boats like these before with no supporting cross beam. I found that they collapse in when you put our weight in them. I see no reason why these would not do the same .
  16. Nice pic. It's one of my favorite lakes for trolling a line behind a canoe and watching the sun go down. The canoe rental is done at 6pm. If you walk 30 meters past the rental dock down the wide path. You can mabe launch there. Are you able to lift or carry this boat ?
  17. Minnewanka is under the same regs. Your fishing licence will also work in Yoho ( god I love that word ) one of my favourite Mountian lakes that you can drive to is Emerald lake open until Oct 31. Healthy population of rainbows and brookies
  18. Think of a float tube for the next faze of your fly fishing experience. Still water. Which is the way to go if you want to fish many of our Mountian and foothill lakes. It can be clipped to a pack and give you complete control of most small lakes.
  19. I am in the market for a new Belly boat that I can pack in to our lakes. The Fish Cat at 15 lbs are to heavy and I like the Cumberland & Togiak does any one have any idea the pack weight on these I looked but no one seems to list it ? Thanks Paul
  20. Thank you gentlemen that will work Paul
  21. Hi I have a couple of down puffy jackets that are at least 10+yrs old and need to replace the zippers in them. What I am finding is that all seamstresses will not work with these down jackets . Even my wife won't . Has anyone else run into this problem ? ( I don't mean the wife ) Where did you get it fixed in Calgary ? Thanks Paul.
  22. I was thinking how cool would it be if you could turn the braided nylon I am using transparent. When I built my canoe I used west system epoxy to turn the fibreglass clear. On my cane fly rods I have to colour treat my wraps to keep the spar varnish from turning the wraps clear. I was wondering in anyone knew of anything I could treat the braided nylon with that would a) turn it clear allow the webbing to be flexible c) let me put a clear spar varnish over top. I open to ideas Paul
  23. Thanks for that I didn't find any at CT. But I did find a whole wack of cheap Chinese ones on eBay I will give those a try. Paul
