Fishing the Bow is super easy man, anyone can catch fish in the Bow river. Are you a golfer? (saw your golf reference)anyone can catch fish, not everyone can play golf, just saying! Im golfer that loves to flyfish lol!!! I'll go out with you sometime man. Im not awesome but I do catch a lot of fish. Anytime your going just post it or shoot me a PM. Your best bet right now is to fish nymphs, 2 or 3 of them, try a San Juan Worm with a small evil weevil, copper john, pt, hares ear, boatman etc. by small i mean, size 14 or 16, imo 12's are to big, I never fish a size 12 but fill your boots if thats your preference. I know the snowfall put the Hoppers dawn but fishing a hopper dropper rig also works this time of year. I had a vicious take on a big Foamy the other night plus one on the dropper (the gooly) these are all 14's but was using a 16 at the time. I always use this as my bottom fly as well. If you look at the boatman in the bow they're tiny, def not a size 12.

Hey man, Its red holo tinsel (can't see the sparkle in the pic), olive SuperFine Dubbing. The gills are white Antron (they go on first, then the bead) its tricky, gotta keep it skinny enough to slip the bead over it. I also use mottled turkey thin skin and or PT fibres, or holo tinsel for the wing case. I find this pattern gets the best results using a yellow or pale yellow SuperFine Dubbing. I tie them in 14 & 16. Had one of these broke off tonight! hooked four fish but only managed to land one, 18" Rainbow.

Deadly pattern. Lakes, rivers and streams, nothing left to say!

Had a nice chat with a pontoon guy yesterday I had just showed up and saw him coming so i waited for him to hit the water I was going to fish. When he saw me he apologized immediately said "sorry i didn't see you there" I told him "no problem, I just showed up, go for it man" and as he went through we kinda chatted about the days fishing. Its all good!! looks like there was a spey class or something going on across the river, that was a lot of people.

Opinions On A New Rod, All Is Helpful.

Ive got a Lefty Krey 5w Sig Series, I don't like it, wouldn't buy another one. To short, heavy and fast. Gave it to my nephew, haven't seen it since. That said I bought a 5w BVK last year because I had a gift cert. and I really like it. Ive got a G Loomis GL3 4w that never gets used, ever! I find that having a couple of 5w's and a 6w that there is never a reason to break the 4w out. You may want to consider selling the line and getting a 5w, imo, much more versatile rod but, whatever floats your boat right I only use 2 of my rods at this point 6w GLX (my favorite rod of all time) and the 5w BVK. -
She hasn't even said anything yet, its been over a month, that could be good or bad I fished two of those flies today, hooked up five fish but only managed to land one.

Cant wait for the rest, those are fantastic. I really need to get out more.

7/64 gold tungsten beads are hard to come by I find. Been using the green and pink ones. Heres to hoping they work! I'll be honest folks. We haven't eaten at the kitchen table since our house flooded, my wife isn't liking the new set up lol!!!!!
-
That little pink one is pretty sparse, is that a salt water pattern or do you use it here?

and that my friend is just a jerky individual!

I like you're opinion except for the part where Im full of crap lol!!! I like the fact that your avoiding everyone out there. I get it man, I dont believe theres a place for jet boats on the Bow River. My point is the exact same as yours, you use it as transport, thats what they're all doing out there. Thats why I said, "you can't compete with someone thats got a jet boat" so when one goes flying past you on the river to get to a spot that your heading, I liken it to someone sprinting past you in the parking lot. I totally get it, i just dont agree with having a jet boats on the Bow river. Thats why I won't ever buy a drift boat, I'll buy a jet boat if it comes down to it because I want to get there too. I love you man!!
-
Your not being over sensitive. How does anyone compete with a jet boat? your drifting along and all of a sudden a jet boat passes you and fishes your water. Its water poaching and is no different that some douche walking into your run and casting. The fact that he's in a boat doesn't make it different, it just makes it a lot easier to do! IMO a guy passing you in a jet boat is the same as some guy running past you on the bank or from the parking lot to get to your/theyre water first. I also believe being in a jet boat causes a major disconnect as well. your in a boat and justyfied by having the power to pass someone, its not your fault not everyone else has a jet boat right...
-
Sweet photos man. You're out there getting it done!!!!
-
Nice ties, love the clouser minnow.
-
Pretty sure that lakes got carp in it already, does it not.
-
The guide brought cake that day, was f'ing excellent!!!
-
IMO it was just a question, as a reader of the comments, he isn't arguing at all. He clearly just asked, "whats the difference"
-
yes definitely would love to do that stretch as well.

Was a great day, best weather Ive had on a float trip, 22x to Mackinon. Saw a jet boat and two pontoons, that was it. We nymphed all day and had good success. The first hour we didn't get anything which kinda sucked because that was all new and GREAT water, they just weren't on yet. Got bunch of Rainbows 4 of significant size but, only landed one of the big boys, a bunch of Whitefish three of which where freakishly large/FAT, they're always good fun in between and we each managed a small Brown. Saw a couple of good fish rising later in the day that I managed to #$%@ up. Where I was in the boat and the way the wind was blowing I couldn't get a good cast out. I didn't want to take out one of Terry's eyes or plant a hook in him. A good dry fly guy would've caught that fish. All in all it was a good day. Ive floated from Police to Mac 7/8 times now, the last 3rd of the trip is always lack luster imo. Gonna try a different route next time, probably the upper.

My daughter and I have been out looking periodically for an hour, no that the clouds are gone so is the eclipse was a nice try though.
