Happy birthday Lynn... Have a great day...

It's not likely rickr...seems these kind of flyfishers (orvisonly, aka OO, pronounced... oh-oh...which I think means hello...) tend to compensate for their lack of real fishing skills, with cheap shots to take the focus off of the real problem... Their insecurity... Yep, a classic case. Thing is... we should feel sorry for him (oh-oh.)...Cause that's the kind of reasonable guys we all are round' here... After all, he only knows how to fish with one fly and then claims to be a traditionalist to cover up his short comings... Sad really... when you think about it...

That's funny stuff, orvisonly...

Hey Gordon, What's up with putting a line with a 110' belly, on that B&W Norway 10150 and not warning me?...C'mon man, that is one heck of a long line to cast on a 15' rod. Of course, I was able to get the whole line out there, but what a surprise when I first tried to lift it out of the water for a single spey cast and my anchor landed 30' downstream!!!..... Yikes! I've been set up! I bet you were having a good chuckle watching me struggle with those first few casts...

Bear Attack On The Dogpound
toolman replied to bigbowtrout's topic in General Chat - Fishing Related
There are lots of black bears and a few Cougars, spotted along the Bow each season, often right in the city. The CO's down in Fish Creek, were trying to run off a black bear last Tuesday evening (chuckin' rocks at it). I was tempted to pull over and ask him if I could join him for some fun. I don't really like black bears very much and any opportunity to put the rocks to one, is always fun. When I was younger, we used to park at the local landfill (dump) in the late evenings and sit quietly in the truck with the engine and lights off. Then, shortly after dark, we'd turn the highbeams on too see if any bears had shown up to dig in the trash. Then, (while trying not to spill your beer), we'd jump out and put the rocks to em'...man that used to be fun... F'in black bears... -
If a flyfisher is skilled in all tactics AND they have mastered the art of the long rod as well, then they are "SUPERIOR" flyfisherman...once again, like me.
-
One thing I have noticed about the "traditionalist" crowd, is they usually suck as modern flyfisherman. A "real" flyfisher in this day and age, is one who is skilled in all flyfishing tactics...like me.

Great pics... I can see that you've had another great season...Thanks for the post!

Female adult Stoneflys, are often refered to as a Skid Bitch. It is a reference to the way that females of some species, will skid across the surface of the water, sometimes on egg laying runs, ovidepositing their egg clusters. Bitch refers to gender. One of my favorites...Barretts Golden Stone w/barred legs. http://www.idylwilde.com/onefly-new.php?fl...c=Berrett!s

The regs say that all anglers must carry their licenses (plural), at all times. It might mean that both your WIN card and Fishing License, together, are your licenses. Another grey area in the regs that needs clarification.

How about, everyone puts there own team together consisiting of four anglers. Count points by the inch...one point per inch, with only trout over 10" counting. Whities, suckers etc. don't count for any points. 5 Bonus points for +20" and 10 Bonus points for +24". Prizes for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place teams...Prizes for biggest Rainbow, biggest Brown and individual Champion flyfisher with the most points.

Great pic, Bryce...Really like the unique color cast of the night sky.

Great idea Brett...My thoughts... 1. I'm in... and will win the FF Championship...Team members tba... 2. I nominate Brett to be in charge of organizing all of the details...(All in favor...) 3. Of course it is the best way to prove who the best angler's are...what other way is there? ps. Brett, you're on my team...right?

This technique adds motion to the fly, but it's important that your flys represent a species of swimming nymph/emerger, such as Baetis, Mahogany Duns, Caddis emergers, ect. Then, it makes sense to swim your presentation like the natural nymphs/emergers you are trying to immitate.

I like using a Uni-knot/Speed knail knot, instead of traditional nail knots. The Uni-knot is perfect for attaching mono running lines to heads, leaders to the front end of the fly line and even making folded loops. You can also use the Double Uni-knot to replace Surgeons loops when joining tippets together. It is a much stronger knot than the Surgeons loop. IMO Speed Nail Knot... http://link.brightcove.com/services/link/b...bctid1348305525 Uni-Knot... http://www.netknots.com/html/uni_knot.html Double Uni-Knot... http://www.netknots.com/html/double_uni_knot.html

Gorgeous Broonie, Ed...congrats!

Uh..Oh...sounds like that stick's not going back to Fish Tales anytime soon. I test casted a 6wt Decho for a few minutes, which was pretty good, but.... (I found it a bit "Clunky"... ... Dec.) You'll have to bring your 5122 to the next spey gathering for us to try.
-
Rob, Try and drop by the next Spey gathering and cast a bunch of rods/line systems, as there is usually a good mix of mid priced too the best of the best rods available, in all actions, for you to try.

If You Were Me.. What Would You Do?
toolman replied to birchy's topic in General Chat - Fishing Related
Birchy, check out the Loop Multi series. This rod series is very impressive in both single and double hand models. The Multi's are an evolution of the Loop Greyline series, which were also great rods. -
Well there you have it, Bloom...The FFC Complete Flyreel Review, strong opinions on both sides for every brand/model available...with a few insults, colorfull rebuttals and slanderous remarks thrown in for entertainment purposes. Whichever model you choose, will be the right one for you... Good Luck and Enjoy! ps. Teck...you're a wanker.
