Your probably right about being in the 5000 pictures, and all those flies are now on display on living room trinket shelves from Tokyo to Osaka. You created a untold number of memories Doc, good for you! Amazing scenery...been driving by the turn off for years, now I must visit!

Fishing After The Flood Your Predictions
aaa replied to DRock's topic in General Chat - Fly Fishing Related
Was at Police Sunday morning at 730. The launch is functional and safe. Saw a couple rigs parked by the road w/empty trailers at that time. It was good to see them there! We walked and waded (tight tight to that bank whoa ninja style), saw new water and saw fish, many stone schucks, saw live stones too, no caddis. Saw the shuttle people doing their thing at 1100 when we left, and that felt good too! -
3 really great shots! Nice work!

Fishing After The Flood Your Predictions
aaa replied to DRock's topic in General Chat - Fly Fishing Related
In 1980 both the South and North Forks of the Toutle River were destroyed by Mount St Helens. At the time, both fisheries people and fisherman saw the devastation and said that the rivers would not recover in their lifetimes. Based on what the pictures and newreel footage showed, no one disputed this. Yet, the South Fork did recover within a few years, and the North Fork (later) as well. Spirit Lake did too, as early as 1983 there was life in the lake. Not to pre 1980 levels, but the fish did come back to the streams. Hard work by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to control silt and water levels helped, as did the efforts of wildlife groups and other state angencies working hard along side. Anyway, our river is hurt, but it will recover too. Some may be surprised how fast. Nature finds a way..... -
Yes Adrienne, your overdue!

Train Cars Possibly Sinking Into Bow River

Good post Pipes and quite true, Jet A fuel is very stable and needs to be atomised and travelling 'at speed' to ignite. Jet B, more unstable, but I highly doubt B was in those railcars. Did we want it in our river, no. But the press babbling about 'highly dangerous jet fuel' was the last thing Calgarians needed to hear yesterday morning. -
Old School.....and cool! Great find......(wonder what happened to the rest of the gear)

Wings For The Angler - Lee Whuff

Great video, of an amazing man. The flight instructor who was with him on that last flight in 1991 felt that the accident was not pilot error. His quote: "I will always believe that Lee's death was the cause of the accident -- rather than a result of it" -
I have used U.L.S. in the past and they were great. http://www.ulslandscaping.com/

From my own experience, this is how things went for me. For the few months, they sleep, a lot. So you might get out a few times more than what you might think during that first 6 months. Then, they seem to come alive, start to see you, find their hands, take a few steps and believe me your not going to want to go fishing much with all that magic going on. After they are a year old, the afternoon naps are probably gone, and things get busier. Your going to wish they sure would start to talk more. (You may regret this wish in the years to come) You may get out fishing less, but your life will be full. Enjoy these times, the years will pass as a blur and before you know it they will be 10. Then, your worst fears could be realised later when they are teens...they may/will come to conclusion that their Dad is in fact not the coolest guy on earth. This, will hurt a bit. It will be true though, so prepare yourself. My advice, for the early years, keep fly tying, practice your casting, get out when you can. Take lots of pictures of your little one out with you. Get your wife out of the house. Learn everything she does in the house and do it well. (forget the breast feeding part) You will find time to go, and if you can't go, try to find gold in just staying home.
