  1. Sweet tap dancing Jesus......thanks Blob Blaw Blaw
  2. There is both public and private ($5) access at Hogg Park/Campground which is on the river between High River and Longview. Google for more info
  3. My favourite is the Bass Pro lifetime redhead wool socks guarantee....on my third pair now, just take the old ones to the customer service desk, no inspection, no questions asked....great wading socks for the cold mtn rivers. ( btw I also have engaged Cdone in the past for some minor rod repairs with great success)
  4. Lol...you thin guys always like the thick pies....thin to win for me....
  5. Double Zero....downtown restaurant in the basement of The Core ( the old Elephant and Castle)...no delivery that I know of but you can pick up or just eat in...
  6. Hey RD ( M?) I have been packing my 9 foot waterskeeter in the trunk of an Altima for quite a few years...Takes me about 15 mins to build and 10 to break down. I have strapped it to the roof for a few short trips but that is a little dodgy on the deerfoot. Need to find a decent utility traier then it is one build per year...sk
  7. Quick question....realized a few weeks ago that my bear spray was still in my fishing vest, still hanging in the unheated garage and now it was minus 30. Does freezing and thawing affect it's effectiveness and should it be replaced ( was new last year). Perhaps I should test it on my bride...Happy Valentines honey...
  8. On Sunday I stepped around a dozen upstream from Glenmore and each one was on it's back with the breast eaten out of them...healthy coyotes I presume...
  9. Please enter my name as well, went last year and it was awesome, Cardel is great venue
  10. Took my first float of the year yesterday, Police to Mac and I know the Bow is a big river however it sure seemed BIG yesterday, usually late August the levels are down and the word meander enters the equation. Could be a combination of snowpack, rain and the weir re-engineer...but make sure you pay attention...and more to your point I saw two of the biggest fish ever, one 24" 'bow, and a brown pushing 27-28...both on my brothers line, both on the terrastial...sk
  11. Well said H and DJ, seems to me that as we get older we either get grumpy and assume posessions that could be shared or go 360 and don't let it affect the experience...For some reason I have never had a serious conflict in over 10 yrs of hitting the Bow...keeping in mind the more days you fish the probability rises. I get out about 30 times per year..half and half WW and pontoon float. Don;t hear too many compaints about the 'toon floaters but I am sure they are out there...and the odd time when you are not paying attention downstream ..reel in and apologize...now you want to see a gong show try the pheasant release sites at the beginning of the season...you soon make the effort to find private access instead of Lebanon....sk
  12. Thank God for natural selection... http://cnews.canoe.ca/CNEWS/Canada/2011/05/16/18152906.html
  13. Nice fish...I know because I think I recognize that sore/growth on the lip...I caught a very similar fish a few weeks ago although I think the growth may have been on the other side but the size was the same...I was downstream a ways from the southland ped bridge on the east side..are those sores common?...
  14. I floated the Bow twice in a b-boat when I first started fly fishing 15 yrs ago. Was blind to the dangers at the time . Biggest issue for me was the 4 feet of legs banging through sometimes six inches of water and the fact that whenever you wanted to head to shore you need to start kicking about 1/2 a mile upstream. Once layed my rod across the boat while i struggled to stand in fast water, got my balance but by then there was my rod....gone. Have been pontooning the Bow now for about 10 yrs and love it...sk
  15. Hi Mark, I have a single pontoon boat and have often wondered if the doubles cause issues when both people are casting as the proximity seems pretty close. And I also wonder if both can stand at the same time or how tricky is the balancing when only one person stands. My brother and I are thinking of a drift boat however that means someone is usually rowing and not fishing but it does bring the socializing back in play. I would think you would still have to trailer the double pontoon though....sk
  16. Still confused....I am employed by a large O&G company yet reuse and recycle daily....I guess I am a land raping eco-greenie...btw...you can now get your beer in aluminum bottles in the US... and for all the statisticians
  17. Hey D, I had the top section of my 2 piece replaced for $30 a few years ago, took it right into the Springbook office over by the Blackfoot Inn. Also picked up a few deals in their wholesale/surplus items area ...sk
  18. I can't hear any FFC members hootin and hollerin for winning a new rod....are the results ready to be published?..tks
  19. Just a quick note of thanks to Michelle and Armand for providing tickets to the film fest on Saturday. My bro and I caught the afternoon films which included some wicked footage from the Mirimichi in the '60s, some crazy aussies chasing permit on foot up and down the beach and some marble trout hunting in Slovenia. Great venue, unfortunately my phone didn't ring on Sunday so the Stream Watch Raffle results dream was just a dream...thanks again...sk
