Oh god, not this again... Lol Fished a pieroway once. Then built a z axis for less than the sticker on the pieroway.

Fly Fishing Championships - September 23 To 27
Foothills86 replied to cheeler's topic in General Chat - Fishing Related
Hey guys, we still need a controllers and a couple judges possibly. If you are available it is a great opportunity learn how events like this work and to see top anglers in action. I will be working Thursday and Friday, and would like to see a few more members from the board out there. Thanks guys and girls, Brian -
pretty pathetic, sad reality is this is probably more common than we think.

got to love acrobatic rainbows, had some get airborne on me yesterday on the crowsnest. Absolute favorite fish to catch.

Foothills86 replied to reevesr1's topic in Photo Posts
Would do it again in a second, i wonder what people hiking in the valley thought of our constant YUUUUPPPPP ing, they must have figured we were crazy. YUUUUUUUUPPPPPPPP!!!!!!! -

Imperial all day long, the Dickerson taper is one of the best out there. I had the same rod in a 5wt and loved it

I couldnt believe how healthy this fish was, 22 inches long but the girth and thickness across the back made it a heavy fish. Longest fight i haveever had on the bow by far, the increased flows probably added to it though

Hit the river for a couple hours despite the call for rain and high water, had a hard time fishing the spot i was at. eventually found space to cast and picked up a few fish. Great test for the new Z -Axis 5 weight build that was just completed Never had a Sage before and with the upgrade to the ONE rod, I picked up a z axis blank at half off, took it for its first drive last night at policemans and man are they a great rod. I would never pay retail for one but i would buy a blank and build one no problem.

I would take a small file or a scriber if you have one and rough up the outside of front hood of the reel seat, make some good scratches in it, that way the epoxy has some rough edges to bond to, not just a smooth surface it will eventually pop off of again. Put some epoxy inside the cork handle where the front hood will sit, sqish it in there and make sure its all lined up. Any excess epoxy should be cleaned up with de natured alcohol. Do this and it should look just like it did before, and it will last a heck of a lot longer.

I was out today trying out my new sonic pro pants and was in my fishcat 4 all day with no issues. Never had to worry about getting wet, but i am a pretty light guy and float pretty high in my pontoon

I wonder how bad that road will be after a barrage of under equipped SUV drivers try to drag their boats back up the hill. Might head out there with a tow stap and make some tax free cash...lol -
1997 jeep cherokee and a 1995 pathfinder. Suv seems the way togo, capable 4x4s and the splitting the difference between economy vs capability.

Worms On The Bow P.s This May Suck!
Foothills86 replied to flyfishy's topic in General Chat - Fishing Related
Just got off of the bow half an hour ago and it was a slaughterfest, whites were going crazy for the worm. Worm was almost identical to the one in question, about 20 hookups and a bunch to hand. I didnt have any issues with hooking the fish in the eye or anything, worst thing i had was a snag in the pectoral fin with the dropper nymph. Had a big white damnear hit my backing today, i was suprised, they are fighting like mad right now. -
Pretty sure i saw some on the wall at Fish Tales tonight when i was there

Not trying to start a p!ssing match but I just did a days fishing with Pesca Maya on the 23 of december. I have never had people work so hard to get me shots at fish, even when i thought the day was over we hit another 6 spots looking for more. If i had done my part I would have landed a lot more fish. It was a great experience and I know I will certainly book with them again next time I am in the Mayan. Definitely work on your casting, that was my biggest down fall the fish always seemed just out of range, or the presentation wasnt the best. Not a bad word to say about that outfit. Isaias was my guide for the day.

I don't have a whole lot to offer but i am more than willing to donate a seat in my jeep for one of the many trips i will do next year. I mainly do walk and wade style trips, i have a couple lakes in mind for next year as well. Lunch will be provided, gas will be covered, i will offer up the knowledge i have of the river and what I find to work. I will even buy the beers at the end of the day... I am not a guide, but I do have a decent knowledge of some rivers and creeks and seem to catch my share of fish. We are better than this guys, lets keep this thread going.

Anyone Else Into Hot Sauces?!?
Foothills86 replied to robert's topic in General Chat - Not Fishing Related (NFR)
Always liked the kick of a nice scotch bonnet hot sauce. -
Took the Exodus II out on its initial trip yesterday, took a bit of getting used to not looking for zipper pulls(magnetic pocket closures). Off the shelf I found the pack to fit quite big and i couldnt get it to fit me properly. After i played with a few buckles i found a way to get the pack to fit me perfectly, which is hard to do being all of 130 lbs soaking wet. The pack is great, very user friendly, tons of storage, possibly a little too much, i have a tendency to fill all the space i have in this pack and it gets to be heavy Well designed net keeper in the back, i still have to find an easy way to place the net in the back of the pack while i am still wearing it. other than that the pack is great and will serve me well for hopefully years to come

Looks great, kinda reminds me of the art on the Abel reels -
I just ordered the Exodus II, since the exodus seems to not be available any more. I will give a bit of a review once it comes in.
