  1. You evidently didn't pay him enough...
  2. Like it was posing or something... 1994 Suburban 6.5 TurboDiesel with a few "upgrades". It tugs this thing around...
  3. Long story but my wife's sister was having lunch with the head of the WHO. He said himself the H1N1 scare was blown way out of proportion. Other flu viruses have killed more people than H1N1 has. Not to try to diminish the severity of the bug. It's just not as serious as everyone was led to believe. It'll make you sick; might even kill you. So will most other flu viruses out there, given the right conditions.
  4. You mentioned native species somewhere ... So tell me then...what are the native species in our closest parks? And what species do we find there? Hmmm...would we not be doing them a favour by catching and keeping the non-native species so the native species could re-establish a population? I fished for many years in Banff and Yoho Parks and caught primarily non-native species...
  5. I'm guessing you missed the "dumb landlord" portion of this and perhaps most of the story. Regardless of the potential damage/rent increase issues the landlady claimed to have never had a pet on that property before; an obvious lie. Don't intend to instigate a flame war but if you're going to step in and defend another landlord you really need to read and comprehend the story the OP is relaying.
  6. Almost had one this fall but it turned out to be less "perfect" than the seller was leading us to believe. They pop up once in a while. The unfortunate thing is the sellers seem to know what they're worth... Well, looky, looky...just popped up on Kijiji this morning. Just an E, not an ES but looks nice... http://calgary.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicles-c...AdIdZ169564834#
  7. So...we all know what our main hobby is (or is it your MAIN hobby?) . How about your other hobbies? I find it fascinating to hear what other skillz people have. I'll start by saying fishing is my secondary hobby. My main hobby is... Cars...Vintage Volvos in particular. I play with them. Make them go fast. Make them handle. Make them fun to drive. Here is my current car and how it looked in 2006. It is currently undergoing a full restoration and should be on the road next spring. I also helped a buddy build his car... As you can see...we're just a little crazy... A partner and I also run a small business where we design and sell aftermarket performance parts for Volvos. A bit of a niche market, to say the least. Next?
  8. This may or may not spawn another entire thread but... Be aware, if you are buying boots to last a number of years, there is a possibility felt soles may be banned in the next couple of years. For those who go through a pair of boots in a year, this isn't a big deal. For someone who doesn't fish 100+ times a year and is planning a major expenditure on good boots, it may impact your decision...
  9. The big diesel truck he drove to pull all the crap up the logging road would be a good reason but that might be envy rather than hate. Quite possibly the chainsaw he used to clearcut the pad it was all parked on?
  10. I had this without the stomach issues. Zero energy. Chills and sweats swapping places with some regularity. Aches from top to bottom and a zinger of a headache the whole time. Advil, and lots of it, was the ticket for me. Cured the aches, dulled the headache and knocked me out so got loads of sleep. I think I'm over it now but it knocked me down for a week. No sniffles, cough or congestion which scares the crap out of me because my wife has spent the last 4 days laying on the couch with a really bad congested cough, sore throat, aches and headache...
  11. FWIW the reviews on the site seem to be favourable.
  12. Some unsuspecting visitors... hopdrop I think it was? Steve getting his net figured out... Mission accomplished. Shawn and Peter still at it... Mike, doing what he does best...catching fish when no one else can... He was a bit camera shy... Mike with another... Didn't get any shots of Peter with fish but Shawn showed us persistence pays off, even if it is long distance... All in all a fantastic day to be on the water, even if the fishing was a bit slow (for most of us anyway). I suspect Mike caught as many as the rest of us combined. Thanks to the guys for some great company and a great day...
  13. Spent the day with a few of the lads on the Bow downstream of Policeman's Flats. I got brave and took the Rebel XTiwith the 70-300 zoom. Here are some pictures I took... Some basic scenery... Must be nice... Shawn (Tightline) and Peter (Uberfly) fishing a run. Steve (BobLoblaw) enjoying the beautiful day. Mike, after he scared the two rising fish... Same shot...zoomed out... Steve...getting some exercise.
  14. The last time I was asked for my fishing license was about 1990 when I got that ticket for...ahhh...nevermind...at least the regulations are a little more clear now... But seriously, I think that was the last time...nearly 20 years ago...
  15. While I agree more signs would be helpful, I also think more signs just become more targets for some yahoo with a couple of beers under his belt and a 22 cal rifle under the seat of his truck. Yes, there are people who think a fishing license gives them the right to fish wherever, whenever with whatever and a sign here or there might clue those people in. However, no number of signs will prevent the intentional lawbreakers and those are the ones that are causing the most damage and need to be stopped. I'd rather spend the money on enforcement, not signage. Not that any money will be spent...
  16. It isn't censorship if you waive your right to freedom of speech which essentially what you do when you sign up to be a member of most any discussion board. What is acceptable is entirely in the eyes of the few who have the power to make those decisions. I moderate a number of other discussion boards and regularly get called out about censorship and freedom of speech violations. Sorry, that's not how it is in the land of discussion boards. A PM regarding why your post/thread was removed might be enlightening but again, that's up to the ones that hold those powers. I can say it's kind of funny to have the shoe on the other foot though and have one of my posts removed when I'm usually the one slapping wrists, deleting posts and banning spammers...
  17. That was, without a doubt, one of the funnier moments I've experienced while fishing... I don't think I can add anything to the story the pictures already tell. It was a fabulous day with some great company. Thanks again Mike and Steve.
