  1. While the evening was frustrating with the wind in our faces all night, the end made it all worthwhile. That was a huge fish...not just for length but girth too. Too bad it got away. Definitely got the adrenaline pumping and I was only watching. Seeing those big Golden Stones on every rock was pretty cool too. Great to meet you Darrin. Any time you want to head back down there, give me a call. I'd be happy to tag along...
  2. He got Jokinen for less money than Lombardi signed for today and Jokinen has already proven he's more durable. Sutter maintains Jokinen and Tanguay are a "package deal", suggesting he would not have signed one if he hadn't signed the other. I'll reserve judgement until the season is well underway...
  3. Got him for significantly less money this time around....
  4. Seriously? Why have we never run into each other on the river there, or do you not fish that stretch of the river? Oh...and back on topic...seriously funny stuff. I can't imagine what people were thinking as they watched...
  5. Went out last night with BenBear. He had one to the net with a couple more on and gone. I got skunked... Beautiful night for fishing and always good to meet new people and put faces to names. Thanks Jim!
  6. 61st Ave actually... Corner of 36th St and 61st Ave SE.
  7. http://www.patagonia.com/web/us/includes/p..._CHARTS_HANDLER Should help you out although it looks like the biggest waders they have for ladies has a 33" inseam...
  8. Looks pretty clear today...Glenmore Trail bridge area was anyway...
  9. I have a pair of cheapo Bass Pro White River wading pants that I wear a lot. No signs of wear after a year. I find them so much easier to get on and off than full waders and much more comfortable to wear. I was concerned at first about getting into water that was too deep but I have yet to realize that concern. In my humble opinion, likely the best $70 I've spent on fishing related gear in a long time...
  10. It's funny...I grew up fishing for pike and walleye (jack and pickerel if you're from Saskatchewan) and everything was by weight. When you caught a big fish you pulled out the scale, not the measuring tape. As soon as someone refers to a trout by weight, I get suspicious and honestly have no idea what they are talking about. I've never weighed a single trout I've ever caught.
  11. Sort of a beaver pond. I remember when, why and where this happened. Was supposed to be there that day but for some reason I had to back out...
  12. I've got a hanging unit you can have for free. Was going to use it in my garage but decided to go with a new one. My wife works for a heating/ac company and we got a smoking deal. It's an older Anthem(?) unit. Looks to be in decent shape. Might do you for a couple of years but might not too...
  13. It looks like a huge bridge in the background in that 2nd picture. Ain't no bridge like that on Turtle Lake. Some nice fish there though...or at least there was 35 years ago when I went ice fishing there.
  14. Hence the "more trades" comment. Backlund certainly didn't look comfortable last night so he could go back down to Abbotsford. The rest? Who knows. Lundmark would likely (or perhaps already has) go back down. That makes room for 2. White fills Phaneuf's spot and Sjostrom's spot is filled by the third forward. Would seem to be the logical sequence of events although Lundmark's play makes it a little tough to keep sending him back to the minors all the time...
  15. Was Phaneuf getting better? Can't see how this might bite in the long term except they may have snagged a bigger fish instead of 2 or 3 lesser fish to begin with. They've freed up some cap space...maybe more trades yet to come? Kovalchuck would be a good one to land and try to sign to a long term deal before the end of the season...
  16. Hagman, Stajan, White and Jamal Mayers are coming to Calgary. Have to think the Flames got the better end of that deal. Not sure who Burke thinks is going to score for the Leafs now. Stajan was #2, Hagman was #4 and White is their 2nd highest scoring defenceman. Gotta wonder when a guy trades away scoring talent when their top scorer is a defenceman...
  17. If you call Carlos and ask him for the same coffee he gave Dale for the pancake breakfast, he will know exactly what you mean. I hope he has more coming as this was the last he had as of Friday. He has numerous other coffees that are outstanding. Rainforest and Toledo are our two favorites...
  18. I'll add my thanks as well. Good to put names to faces and vice versa... Supplied by a good friend of mine who imports directly from growers in Columbia. http://www.singleorigincoffeeinc.com/ What we had isn't actually listed on the website as it was a special purchase he made from an award-winning grower. I forget the name of what we had but Rick still might have the bag with the label on it. Carlos is a wonderful guy and while his coffee is a little more expensive than the stuff you get at Safeway or Superstore, it's far better IMHO...
  19. If you think getting it off the little one is tough, wait until you see what else it managed to get on during the process of application. I'm sure the wealth is spread around generously... When my twin boys were about 3 (and we had carpet in the bathroom) they emptied an entire bottle of shampoo on the carpet and were finger painting with it when we found them. Ever tried to get shampoo out of a rug? Ended up pulling the carpet up. Fun times...
  20. Was waiting for that tough Edmonton girl to pop out next...
  21. Knew that...didn't think it was relative to the thread. Lived next door to a niece of Mr Nodwell for a couple of years...
  22. Sure...any time...just not this week... :$*%&: Thanks again to everyone involved. Picked up my rod from Rick yesterday. What a lovely piece of equipment! The Christmas wish list now includes a reel and some line. Can't wait to give it a try!
  23. Probably not, but what a spot to pitch a tent...
