  1. i vote so i can complain let's hope the results of the election bring good changes to the city!
  2. Well, I guess we should stop planning our Cup parade route, hehe. Minny's PP killed us... stupid Mikko.
  3. That must be your favourite spot! Nice fish!
  4. I was watching in utter disbelief as the Oil were buzzing around the slow, old Flames in the first and third. The Flames came out hard in the second, but the 'Bulan Wall held the fort long enough for the Oil to regroup. Any hockey fan would have enjoyed Eberle's first goal. It's only a matter of time before the other two rookies get their firsts. I know every game won't be like this, but wow was that fun to watch!
  5. I haven't had a bully burger since April 1, 2009.
  6. -or the guy who can catch a whole bunch of 30+ inch bull trout? just to stir the pot. ps. i'd love to catch something remotely close to your avatar pic!
  7. that's just fLAME.... we need some oiler spies to infiltrate the Mod ring
  8. I don't have much faith in Khabibulan lasting the whole year. I think he's going to get hurt again, but I hope I'm wrong.
  9. No, you should hire yourself as a guide because it was your idea to set them up with the stick, line, and worms. Yes, this will go on all winter and morph into the shack nasties thread.
  10. Ahhh... the shady world of farmer's markets. Most cities run into the same issues, where the big so-called farmer's markets turn into expensive, commercialized places where the owners charge the vendors crazy high rent which gets passed down to the customers. I like Crossroads better than CFM, as it has a more down to earth feel to it. I can get the best cowboy popcorn, perogies, and lamb ribs from there. The produce prices aren't too bad overall. Hopefully the Kingsland Market continues to expand and grow, as I liked what I saw there, and it's closer to a real farmer's market than the others.
  11. I'm going to enjoy watching the Oil play this year. Guys like Horcoff, Hemsky, Gagner, and Cogliano should do better than last season, while Penner hopefully does as well or better. The 3 rookies should do well, and hopefully at least one of them will surprise. They're going to be given every opportunity to succeed. Still an Oiler fan, and always will be. At least this year we have a lot to look forward to.
  12. I guess a few people on this thread don't...
  13. I was at Picklejar Lakes on a cloudy summer day, and the fly of the day was a beat up size 18 griffiths gnat on 6x tippet stripped in quickly. The first time was by accident, by the fourth fish I thought I'd keep doing it. I had a hit almost every cast, and was landing a fish every 2-3 casts. These were smaller cutts (4-14") in a lake that is overpopulated with fish. I found it wildly entertaining and just for kicks (and for my friends) decided to count how many I would actually catch. I switched flies once during that stretch, when my gnat deteriorated down to a hook with a piece of black thread. The people around me had heavier tippet, and larger flies, and caught way less. Yes, it's a ridiculous number, but I do have witnesses who saw it. It's the same pleasure you get watching Team Canada crush a lesser team in the World Juniors... it's fun here and there, but it would get old if it happened every time. 3 weeks later, I fished the same lake and only caught 6 in a couple of hours, so I'm thinking it was a big hatch the first time around. It's like Hawgstoppah's day on the Crow where he caught 100+ fish. Sometimes you're at the right place at the right time with the right fly. It happens in spurts on the Bow where people will catch a fish every few casts in a 30-60 minute span. When it's on, you can catch 10 fish in an hour, and none for the rest of the day. People who have fished the Bow enough would agree to that.
  14. On any given river, you can have people who get skunked and people who have phenomenal days. I remember eating lunch while a guy was fishing a pool at the Liv. In half an hour, with multiple fly changes, he caught nothing. After I finished my lunch, I saw what was rising, and caught 5 in just a few minutes. That guy complained of a slow day on the Liv, while I had a great one. On one of the high mountain lakes, I caught 70+ fish in less than 2 hours, while people around me got a handful the whole day. For years, the same thing happened to me on the Bow, where I'd get skunked or catch 1 or 2 in a whole day while I'd read reports of people catching 10+, or my friends would outfish me at least 5:1. However, with adjustments on technique, location, fly type, fly size, leader length, and a whole lot of practice, I now have success on the Bow more often (still with the odd skunkage). I can see people getting skeptical about some of the high numbers of fish on reports when they're not getting much, but I would say for the most part the reports are accurate. People having the big fish days were probably dialed in or had the fly of the day. There are a lot of people here that could talk about how a change from a size 14 Prince to a size 16 Prince, or pushing their indy up another foot, or adding another split shot changed their slow day into an amazing one. Those subtle differences make a world of difference.
  15. Wow, when I read this, I thought it was me that floated by, but we went on Friday, and I don't recall seeing anyone there. We floated through the same section you mentioned, and my friend hooked into 5 fish in that 300m stretch. The water leading up to the island is pretty productive too. Hopefully you get another chance to hit it.
  16. Your smallest steelhead of the trip would equal my biggest rainbow I've ever caught. Sheesh. Great pics!
