  1. Trailhead, nice fish. That must have been an awesome feeling to get 2 20 inchers in 2 casts. As for the other 2 pics, someday I'll join the 24+ inch club...
  2. Colourful brookies like that always put a smile on my face. Nice fish.
  3. All I have to saw is SWEEEEEET FISHHHH!!!!! Congrats on the big bully.

    Brookies

A day's worth of fishing at Elbow Lake would match the total weight of just one of those fish! Nice.
  5. A hat, t-shirt, and some stickers. Depending on how the hoodie looks, I may get one of those too.
  6. I added this on another discussion: http://srd.alberta.ca/whatsnew/pdf/firebanarea.pdf Still closed...
  7. I use a Scientific Angler reel for my 4 weight and it's been doing well the last 3-4 years. They sell them at Wholesale Sports and Russels. I think they cost around $50-$60. I just bought my wife a Tioga reel, and so far so good on that one.
  8. Somebody should make a little flyfishing shrine at the glacier, as it is the source of our fun further downstream. Great pics.
  9. The Letort Hopper is one of my favourites. Other than that, I use big foam things with rubbery legs.
  10. I left my gear in my SUV and it got broken into. However, they only stole my CD's and (non-polarized) sunglasses, so I was still able to fish. They didn't realize the rod in the case was worth more than everything else in the car combined.
  11. I fish whenever I can, as long as my wife lets me.
  12. Hey Kungfool, your football of a fish looks like this one I caught from the Bow... I find it neat how there are so many different kinds of rainbows in the Bow and its tribs.
  13. I'm on my 11th year now, and it seems like I'm enjoying it more every year. My first trout on the fly was caught in the Kananaskis River by fluke. Since then, I was totally hooked. I also credit inspiration from the movie "A River Runs Through It."
  14. Wow, that's quite resourceful. I love foam flies!

    My July

Sweet pics Max! I love the canyon pic, as I was there not too long ago. Sweet pools with decent fish in there.
  16. Here are some of my faves over the last few years, all caught in smaller streams other than the Bow: I learned how to properly take pics of fish after I took this one:
  17. I have a 5 piece 7.5' 3wt that I use for all my fishing outside the Bow. It's great for backpacking too. For the Bow, I use a 2 piece 9' 5/6 wt rod.
  18. That is only for people who work in downtown due to the Stampede Parade in the morning. Some employers give the whole day, but not all.
  19. This has to be one of the grossest threads on a flyfishing board ever.... But I keep looking!
  20. This area opens July 15. These fish didn't seem too spooked. Once they saw me, they swam away, but then came back 5 seconds later.... not too bright. Thankfully this area is catch and release, otherwise these fish would be gone pretty quick. I remember coming back from the teahouse hike at Lake Louise, and near the parking lot, where the lake dumps into a creek, I saw 5 brookies rising. It was the neatest thing, but nobody noticed until I pointed it out. Can't wait to fish sometime soon...
  21. I went for a hike on Saturday and came across some big cutts in some moving water. It was almost as satisfying spying on these gorgeous fish as it was to catch them myself, as I was as close as 2 feet from some of them. Too bad this area is currently closed to fishing, but I'll definitely be back once it opens up. I saw about 30 cutts ranging from 14" - 18" all in one stretch. I have yet to set foot on a stream this season, and it's driving me crazy... Anyway, for you fish voyeurs out there:
