  1. Dam near looks like a fresh sea run brookie to me.
  2. !07 million for the clean up. Would have been cheaper to replace that old line with a new one.before it ruptured. Not sure why there isn't some regulations in place that force these company's to have to replace pipe after a certain amount of years. Don't know if any of you have ever dug up old pipelines but the stuff they used to do just wouldn't be allowed by today's safety standards.
  3. Well in the paper today they said there fazing out OHV use in the castle river parks over the next 5 years. But really isn't it just going to force people to the livingtone or oldman and other areas that are already heavily used. The only logical solution is trail system for OHV riders. I find it funny that they have such great trail systems for OHV use in Quebec and Ontario But poor old Alberta cant afford any trails or even take proper care of its lakes and rivers.
  4. Funny just about everywhere else uses rotenone as a fish management tool. Here's a lake In BC that was rotenoned in 2011 i believe. I realize Alberta is different and management is a lot harder for sure but its almost like they don't even try. Not another angler on the lake that i can see. Wow must be nice.
  5. Oh is that why i had so many choices in their Survey, Bloody ^%%$## stupid dropping a mid level predator into most Alberta lakes.to the point that there stunted. And still not letting people harvest any. Than asking me if i want to allow people to harvest the best biggest breeders in said lake That's quite the management plan lol. Ya i didn't mean to like your post that was an accident.
  6. I don't get why they have to always have these surveys. Just do your %@$$#% job you brain dead bunch of twits. Pretty sure the cost of the failed aerating equipping they bought last year would have turned some of these perched lakes back into trout lakes.
  7. Not a good day to be a Flying Fish. Really awesome video to watch.
  8. Drfift boat is great for both moving and flat water in my opinion. Ive got a XL hybrid so its basically a high side with a few low spots on each side to step out of, It really is a dream on flat water. You have it set up right with a anchor mount on the front, i run a 35 pound in the back and a 25 pound in the front and have fished in pretty heavy winds no problem. Its very stable even in moderate waves, Any boat is going to be headed to shore if its bad enough. Trolling couldn't tell you even though I have a electric motor to mount on mine, i would rather sink to the bottom than troll with my fly rods. Yes any of those boats would be ideal for the bow, its really a rather tame river to take a boat down.
  9. Does anybody know if there testing west central Alberta streams. North,South Raven the Rams,Clearwater and Red Deer River??
  10. I've been camping and fishing the Ya haw Tinda and ram river areas all my life, Used to be able to stop and glass the elk up on top of the foothills all along the forestry trunk road. Honestly cant remember the last time I've seen a elk out in that country. Its a dam shame.
  11. Merry Christmas and best of the new year to all.
  12. Wow very nice. What a great improvement.
  13. How does it get into a Commercial aquaculture facility in the first place. Wouldn't you think testing for such diseases would be a mandatory cost of doing business type of thing when your stocking public waters.
  14. Wicked Doc Wonder what he paid for that beat ?
  15. Did you read that likely been here for several years (adjusts his tin foil hat)
  16. The reason to fill up your reel with backing is line memory. Without backing you get tight little coils that take some stretching to get out. its not much but it does make a difference.
  17. 10,000 comedians out of work and your trying to be funny. lol
  18. I couldn't agree with bcube more. I land just about every fish I catch in under 2 minutes. I use a 6 weight rod almost exclusively for all my trout fishing. Nothing makes me laugh harder than watching a video of a guy with his drag backed off. yelling its into my backing. Than when he lands it 15 minutes later its a 17 inch trout.
  19. Personally its been over 30 years since I've keep a trout myself.
  20. Only thing i don't like about Alberta Fishing Guide Magazine is there lake guy sometimes recommends certain techniques that are absolutely brutal on the fish if your not aware of the issues with using said techniques. Like fishing bobbies
  21. Well my first suggestion is carry a sponge or shammy and clean the scum off your boat before you pull away from the launch. Only takes a minute and keeps your boat looking nice. So I've found that if I use a product called FW1 marine formula high performance cleaning wax that I don't get that scum build up on the sides of my boat quite as bad from the bow Other than that am the same as everyone else high pressure hose and a good brush for the floor. Never ceases to amaze me how much mud and crap my friends drag into the boat. Myself i spend 3 hours cleaning my boat am washing each foot off before stepping into my boat I`m trying to teach my fishing buddy's that trick.
  22. Ya well you never had a sneaking suspicion in your life or what..
  23. No its not BurningChrome, the one am thinking of was a rainbow and i even commented that it looked like it had whirling disease. Or i should say it looked exactly like the pictures in my books of trout with whirling disease.
  24. Well maybe they didn't know years ago. But that photo that was posted on here 4 or 5 years ago was differently a trout with whirling disease. I cant remember what it was posted under but all try and find it.
  25. Ya i agree with you alan2 about 5 years ago someone posted a photo of a trout that he thought was deformed. It had the crooked back trout get that have whirling disease. I even commented that it looked like whirling disease and am thinking for sure it was now. I would just like to add that we know dam well its been here for awhile they didn't just start testing out of the blue They know for years its been up here. they just didn't bother saying anything.
