Many glitches in the system!

MTB I am sure you are not worried about those who PM about this. Your posts are always informative and you did not tell anyone where you were. Plus, if for some reason another angler uses their spidy sences and makes it to stream X, they still have to cath them. Nice trip you boys had. I will be doing one in the AREA next year as mentioned. Nymphing can be really good on the Bow in winter. I have had some of my best days for numbers, with 20+ fish days. Look for the longer deep and slow pools. The fish pile up in there, hence the name, wintering pools. If you can locate a good pool and a few fish, odds are there are a LOT of fish in that particular pool. The trout are not going to expend much energy to move for food so you basicly have to put yours flies on their nose. As far as rigs go, a double SJW weighted is all you need. Other nymphs work well but will not outfish this combo in winter IMO. For dress, I wear Simms gore-tex breathables and double layer underneath with polartech or polypropolene underwear. Fingerless wool gloves and a toque are essential. I prefer a time between 10-3. A chinook really activates the fish!!!! Oh yeah! I trade in taking a few beer for a thermos of coffee!!!!!! Cheers

Very nice pics. Looks like you guys had a great trip. If is where I think it is, I fished above your area a few weeks ago with a few partners and we did very well with cutts. To bad some people are the way they are, but, you guys did not let that ruin a trip. Always remember, " Some are wise, and some are Otherwise!" Going next year for 5 days for sure. May ask a question later with regards to camping.

Fishin hole has them. C tire also. To bad the FH had a big sale 2 weeks ago with 20-50off everything. They are worth the money.

Sure do. The mustang airforce is what I and a lot use. The aren't cheap, $160.00, but are not bulky and will save your life. I see a lot of guys using these. highly reccomended!!!

I agree with Clive. I put the split above the blood knot that atttaches tippet. It will not slide, even on the long casts. On smaller rivers where I am flipping the nymphs or short casting, I do not find it necessary as the split does not slide. Try it!

I bet the big brown will be on soon enough!!! Also, I consider my sage sp a medium/fast rod. Maybe, yours being a sp+ is faster????

A 6 wt sp+ will be awesome for this. I have a 5 wt. sp, but was using my 4 wt xp last week for the h/d combo. If you had 3x to the hopper, it should turn over fine. Again, was it windy??? Sounds like you are doing things right.

If your rig is not casting good the first questions I ask are, what weight rod, tippet size, and was it windy? Rods 5 and up shoud throw a basic hopper/dropper rig well provided the other factors are in check. I floated last week and had my 4 wt. rigged for this. Also, if your hopper is a 6 or 8, I would use 2-3 feet of 3x to turn the leader over for you. You can drop the nymph with 24" 30" of 4x. Some people are weary of 3x and I see why, however, you often need this for a big fly. If your hopper is a 10, the 4x should turn it. If windy conditions are your setting, then shorten everything up and if possible, use a heavier rod. I hooked 12 last week and half were hopper and half dropper. A yellow foam stimmiy is a fine hopper imitation and can still double as the popular Stones of the Bow. Hope this helps! cheers

ACDC about 5 years ago in Calgary as I was a big fan as a teen. Awesome!!! Ones I would love to see would be, Springsteen, Tom Petty, and the Hip. Loving country, George Strait was awesome, followed by Alan Jackson and tim McGraw.

Thanks Rickr Camped last summer at Dutch Creek Resort and did venture out on the water for a few hours and hooked a few small uns. Will look for some more info on the Columbia. Maybe, Fish BC site???

Camping with the family next week and a site right on the river. Girl that took my booking said people were catching fish but did not know much for details. Anybody know anything about this river ( Columbia) in the area around Spruce Grove resort. Looks like whites and Dollies from the info I got on the camp web page. Any help is appreciated. Hi Dutch Hiawatha is easy to find. Headed west on #3 take a left on #507. Cross the bridge over the crow and continue on for a few hundred meters and take a right. There should be a sign. Close to river, has showers, elec., water, and a playground for the tykes. This will really help my wife when I am fishin!!!!! Nice little camp ground with new ownership. Spoke to Doug yesterday and he was very nice. Google for phone #. Hope this helps. Rob
