Sorry to hear about your loss Lynn. At these times, you need to be surrounded with friends and family, so I am glad Loyaleddie brought this to the forum. Take care and we're here for you.

Yep, it's the Canon 24-105 coffee mug. I wish they were waterproof, but not yet (I believe in the future we may see some specialized waterproof lenses). In the meanwhile I am happy with Pentax for underwater shooting. ------ Take a look @ my site, Naturephoto, http:naturephoto.zenfolio.com

This is a smashing collection of photos, Buck! TFS. I've got a cheaper version of the 24-105, but this one is waterproof. Before submerging yours check out the other photos!

Great flies, Mitchell & SilverDoctor! I like the swiss-straw wingcases.

BTW, I assumed you refer to the east side of the pond (i.e. the Atlantic). Where do you usually fish, Mvdaog?

That is often a good guess. However, it looks that the german prices are quite similar: €309.90 for Pentax Optio WG-1 black / gray http://www.top-foto.de/item.php?id=PENOWG1...bvpi77n336hc2u2 €349,90 for Pentax Optio WG-1 GPS black / gray http://www.top-foto.de/item.php?id=PENOWG1...lkrkstd7vq6md63 Still, it's not cheap. I hope to see some test results. If anyone buys it, let us know your opinion.

The price is out: (http://www.digitalcamerareview.com/default.asp?newsID=4663) The Pentax Optio WG-1 will be offered in black or purple models, and the WG-1 GPS will be available in black, yellow, or green. They will both ship in April 2011, with the WG-1 GPS priced at $399.95 and the WG-1 at $349.95. Today, I saw the new Panasonic TS-10 (FT10). It looks pretty much the TS-2 and feels OK in hand. The picture quality looked nice (only checked on LCD!). http://panasonic.net/avc/lumix/popup/press...on2010_3.html#5

If you want waterproof/underwater, good macro, and good quality outdoor pictures have a look at Pentax Optio Wxx models. You may get older versions on a budget. Other brands like Olympus, Panasonic, Canon too have good underwater P&S cameras. Should you not need waterproof camera, go with the known brands, e.g Canon or Nikon. For fish and macro photos you do not need long telezoom capability. I suggest models with image stabilizator. As for everyone, I suggest research the models and then go try them out (take photos in the shop or even get one on the 30 days money back guarantee).

Thanks for the kind feedbacks! I am glad to see so much traffic coming from FlyFishCalgary! (Facebook is nowhere compared to FFC! ) Finland is a beautiful country, but I also have many fond memories from Calgary, AB, & Canada! You've got to love the place you live. I shoot most of these photos with various Canon dSLRs (Canon Rulez!), but underwater photos are with a Pentax Optio W60. The Pentax is also great for macros when the conditions are right.

Here are two nymphs from my fly-box, which often work over here. I chosen them for their simplicity. The Mono-Ribbed Caddis and the See-Through Blood Sucker Remember, simple things often work & luck is an attitude! Here is a short blog about these flies.

Here in Finland, rivers are frozen big time. So I am almost envy you Calgarians fishing The Bow (but I am not the envy type ^..^). What left for me (besides tying) is looking at some photos from last season. Here are some on my website: http://naturephoto.zenfolio.com/p55275261/slideshow (In case the slideshow does not work for you, this is the link to the gallery) How was your 2010? Share some photos...

No price information yet (at least I did not find). On several review pages, price said to be announced end of February 2011. Not expect it to be cheap! Panasonic cameras are priced over the competitors cameras. Some people say, it worth the extra bucks.

Awesome fish and places. One day, I will go down under.

I am glad to see the traffic coming from FlyFishCalgary site! Thanks BobLoblaw, Buck, and fishinglibin for the feedback. I'm into macros and most of them I shot with Canon's EF 100L Macro lens. However, there are few successful photos taken with my waterproof Pentax Optio W60 P&S. When the conditions are right, P&S with extra close focus capability (1 cm macro in this Pentax) will produce good results. Keep experimenting and enjoy your time out there.

Thanks for viewing and giving feedback, Lorney! (I am glad about your experience of performance.)

You will see people tucking their dSLR into their wader. It is quick to draw, but will not survive if you fall or wade too deep. This is certainly not my way , but I thought we all have different risk profile.

I know you guys have a treat this weekend and will get high on fly-fishing. Good for you! However, should you be interested to see some photos from the other side of the big pond, take a look at my website: Naturephoto I am interested in your comments of the content and also experience with the site. Was the first page loading too slow for you? Did you check the slide shows or only certain photos? Did you find how to see a photo in the largest resolution (single click on a thumbnail and another single click on the mid-size photo... IMO, this design of Zenfolio is far from user-friendly). Any other business?

In case you are thinking about buying one of those waterproof cameras choosing became more difficult. Panasonic just announced the new version (DMC-TS3) of its rugged P&S camera: http://www.dpreview.com/news/1101/11012511panasonicts3.asp From DPReview: "Panasonic has announced the Lumix DMC-TS3 rugged compact camera (known as the FT3 in Europe), with built-in GPS, altimeter, barometer and a compass. It sports a new body design and and better waterproofing upto depths of 12m as against 10m of its predecessor the TS2. Like the TS2 it is also dustproof, shockproof against a drop of up to 2m, and freezeproof down to -10°C. The 12MP CCD-based camera with a 2.7 inch LCD and 28-128mm equiv. lens features 1080i60 HD movies (from 30p sensor output) and comes with the company's latest 3D photo mode." I miss the GPS from my current cameras, but some of the features are a bit far fetched (IMO): "The Panasonic LUMIX TS3 also features the new Panasonic 3D Photo mode, which produces a realistic 3D photo by taking 20 consecutive photos and overlays the two best to create a 3D image that can then be played on a Panasonic VIERA 3D HDTV. The format of 3D images is compatible with MPO, and can also be played back on other MPO-compatible equipment such as a televisions, digital photo frames and printers. Panasonic also adds the LUMIX Image Uploader, for seamless and instant sharing via Facebook (for digital photos) or YouTube (for videos). Users can checkmark the photo or video files they want to share, connect it to a PC with the included USB cable or by inserting the SD Memory Card directly into the PC’s SD Card slot, and then the uploading automatically launches with an easy-to-follow menu option." What is your opinion? What more do you (fly-fisherman) want from a waterproof P&S?

Interesting phenomenon and the February glowing fall recording close to the end is superb! Thanks for sharing.

I am sure you will see some great paintings of her. She is talented. One of her paintings was recently stolen from a gallery in Calgary. So keep your eyes open and let her know if this turns up: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=182...0325.1314050261 -

Another cool episode of the Humblefisherman saga. I was almost sure at the beginning that you were hooking grayling. They dance on the water and known for fighting till the end. Looks like you got some browns on steroids! Fun to watch and soothing the mind (the river here is frozen). -
Superb autumn colors Steve. (Haven't seen so many cutties for a while.) That cutty pig looks fake, but what do I know. They may eat spherize nymph up in high country. Keep them coming.
