Brent, do you think the weather had anything to do with the poor fishing? It's hard to catch them when they are sitting on the bottom not moving. There is a chance that some people might be able to catch fish there after June 15.

Good job Ed. Those foam thing "pellet" flies work great on those new stockers. Glad you and the kids had a good day.
Congrats to Ben. Now both boys are beating the old man.

PlayDoh, there is no lake trout in U or L Kananaskis lakes. There is some however in Spray Lake
-
They are white black bears located in a small region on the West Coast

You're right Harry, pretty sad isn't it.
I broke off 2 big ones last night. The evening fishing has been fun.

Great work Max, thanks for sharing your adventures

This is actually pretty common for guys who fish lakes often. A couple of years ago my boat mate got shocked a couple of times when the storm was still about 4 miles away. It was heading our way and we quickly got of the water before it reached us. At the boat launch just about everyone had a story of getting shocked at one time or another. I have seen lightning strike quite often a few miles in front of the storm front. I guess it is better to leave earlier rather than later.

Wow, a bunch of old guys (excluding Tim) crowded around Golden pond trying to catch the big one ... I should have been there with a movie camera..... where's Walter....
Looks like you had fun.
I was stuck at another pond catching chromers on dries. Did you guys see any caddis at BH?

Great fish Lorney! It looks like a female to me. Females get dark as well for spawning. Is it possible the fluid released was from the eggs breaking down inside her? She looks like she is already past peak egg size time and on her way to cleaning up.
Male triploids will still go through the morphological changes that come with spawning ( while the females stay chrome). They are however sterile.

Anyone have much success with yellow streamer patterns in lakes?

Great fish! Nice of Max to let you play with some of his pets.

Thanks Tim, they are almost as ugly as me. My buddy said it would be the only boot he ever takes a picture of...he was too grossed out. You should have heard the moaning from him when I brought that fish into his boat.
I'm taking the camera out today for some triploid pictures. We'll see if chrome looks better that dirty gray/red.

Great news, soon we will have mostly chrome fish in the spring instead of boots!

Rick, that's a stripping guard for my baby soft skin. I'm trying to learn how to be Texas tough by fishing in the hurricane though
-
I had to pay my buddy $10 to let this boot come in his boat. He closed his eyes when he took the picture

There seems to be a few stillwater experts around here. What is your experience when the fish are keyed into Daphnia. Anyone found a "go to" fly that will convince the fish to change their menu selection? The usual flies don't seem to get them excited for some reason.

I often use DT lines so I tend to use 7/8 reels to fit everything on.

Awesome pic. I'm going to get him to sign my fishing hat next time I see him (now that he's a star on the internet).

Great fish, looks like another Lower Kan monster.

How much backing can you put on the M2 if you use a Double taper 6 line?

Taken from another forum:
"Nice pics i was camped there with a bunch of friends all weekend too. i am happy we wernt to loud for you out there, i found a fly rod on the road when i was leaving there PM me if someone lost it, i dident get to fish myself but i took some of the girls out on the lake to see them catch there first fish
there was also alot of people catching and still keeping undersized fish out there and useing bait talked to one of the many CO's out there and was told that for whatever reasone they wernt cracking down on it this weekend?"
I guess all those new signs are not big and bold enough

One of the large lakes I fish used to get a yearly dose of rotenone to knock back the suckers as they were congregating in the bays to spawn. It has not been done for a while now, but the lake appears to still be quite productive.
It's a shame how man has messed up functional systems by adding new species. When we try to fix our mistakes it rarely works out.

Beauties. Are these fish triploids?
