Nice tool Jack. I use a disposable plastic pipette with a slice in it (floats great)

I've found similar results...cheap hooks are brittle, and the bend opens up on heavier fish. It is a little frustrating if you actually want to touch your fish.

Great show. I remember electro-shocking that creek in another life. There is some gems there for sure. Thanks for sharing.

Nice to have another wise, old guy on here that can teaching us something.

Happy Birthday there young man. Hope you have a prosperous year. I found this great song to celebrate the day with:

Here is something else to look at:

Safe for the saltwater. The guy is selling the first generation reels on Ebay. The 7/9s usually go for around $75 US with $25 for shipping.
I have a 9/11 and it's a nice, smooth reel with a good drag.

Max, good point about the new treatment plant. More warm water will help with growth and give everyone another poo hole to stand in.

Uliwon I think your size/wt estimates are very close to the real thing. There are not many fish over 26" in the Bow. The big browns I've caught were strangely caught in the early spring (29" in March, 32" in April). The 29" fish was thin and not too heavy. The 32" fish must have missed the spawn the fall before because she was a pig of about 12-13lb. I've caught 4 browns at 27" and they would be about 7lb. Biggest rainbow for me was 27.5".
Fly gear probably decreases the chances of catching huge fish eaters as well. Rapalas would be more effective. I've heard of browns over 12lb being caught on gear (and bait in the old days) below Carsland. The number of big old browns seems to be increasing with the decreasing number of bait fishers in the city during the fall. Perhaps Dave and Max will get a bunch of 29"+ fish this year.

The problem of incomplete kill probably has more to do with fresh water inflow (springs/creeks) than the effectiveness of rotenone. Another problem could be the nasty little perch bury themselves away in some pocket of vegetation along the shoreline. It only takes 2 to repopulate the lake.

Jeffro I think you need a Fishcat SIX for "lab trolling"

My dog is German. She only points Brown trout

Great shot Jack. Marl + sedge = heaven

Hey Jack, I waved the 5wt/10' Wind Warrior a bit. It's a nice, light rod. Pretty easy to toss some line. Too bad there wasn't a 6wt there.
Cheers, Rob

Looking good Don. How does the grey bug work? It appears that a white bead is not your first choice for these little Dipterans. I've had not bad success with a clear bead on a black/red bug.

Tiemco also has a 2488H that is 2x heavy wire. Straight eye rather than turned down like 2457

Beauty, nice spots, serious teeth

Thanks for tip Jack. We have lots of chironomids here swimming up from the mud. I just like to sight fish over marl. It makes for great scenery with the transition of green colors on the lake.

It appears that the other materials give greater "depth" to the bug over Hard as Nails. Perhaps multiple coats would provide the "look" Don is looking for.

Max is easy to find...just look for his "unique" set up

yet another rod to buy

Man you are turning into a true Canuck Rick. It is really easy to skin Burbs and they are fine eating (if you like fish). You should give it a try. The skin peals off easily with some pliers.
You were fortunate to go with Steve. I think he is the head guide for the Southern Alberta Burb Trail. Did you guys happen to get any Walleye? Their eyes glowing in the dark is something cool to see.

Ya, we were over by the bridge, just north of the guys with the lantern. It was fun. I got 6 walleye as well. The guy we took is going to get rid of his Z-axis and trade it in for a Burb rod
