  2. Streamer eating river Esox
  3. Good job Steve. Beautiful day. I got one for Clive
  4. leech fishing
  5. They are nice for using 25ft leaders when lake fishing
  6. Well I tried some Snap-Ts today. It wasn't too painful. More trout were playing and then something bad happened to my fly. Very healthy fish My buddy got another burbot on the worm today as well.
  7. OK, thanks for the tip. I'm sure the first (first 50) try won't be pretty
  8. July 6 to July 15 is a very scary time to be on the river....your wrist might get sore Xsquared
  9. Eventually wrestling something big and chrome is the plan. I haven't the first clue where to start, but I'm willing to learn.
  10. I was throwing a 550 Skagit head plus about 12ft of sinking line (I just cut up an old 6wt full sink type IV line). I'm pretty sure I wasn't following protocol, but the fish didn't know it was a hack holding the rod. Now its time to start experimenting with flies I guess. Looking forward to the adventure.
  11. So I took my new 13ft rod out for its maiden voyage today. I watched a few youtube videos on casting and figured I go make an azz of myself. With a pretty good wind blowing upstream I was performing some kind of variation of the double spey. Well low and behold I caught a fish, then another and another. Best one was nice buck Brown around 23". He was stocky and dark, but jumped about 6 times. Feels pretty weird on a 13ft rod. Nice start to the spey game. I'll have to try the other side of the river next time to try the snap-t cast. Interesting to try something new...and a refreshing change from hucking worms.
  12. Serious fish eating dries make my day
  13. The river east of Highway 2?
  14. Good to hear you got some fat fish Clive. We should have some fish over 20 this year I guess. We probably really need an abundance of scuds to get some serious growth. The decreases in stocking should have helped the situation thus far, but I agree a few less fish stocked this year could only be a positive. The extra fish could be a gift to the meat crowd on the lake up the road. Cheers, Rob
  15. So for the last 3 years 30,000 triploids have been added and essentially no fish removed. Growth rates are not great... Maybe this year the stocking rate should be drastically reduced to give the invertebrates a chance to increase. There is already 90,000+ fish there so I don't think we need anymore to catch. We just need some more feed in the lake.
  16. Good show....I'm not jealous at all
  17. !
  18. Shorter can never be wrong...then you get to cast at the next one
  19. That's a super sized meal
  20. Garhan, how big are these streamers you are throwing? #2 or bigger? I want to try for some bigger fish
  21. I can fit my 6lb Maxima into #18 dry flies. The fish don't seem to mind. You can apply lots of pressure with 6lb Maxima. Some day I will try this tippet stuff all you fellows talk about....maybe I'm missing out on something.
  22. Stop going to Tim Horton's 7wts are for poofters...my other fishing buddy uses one
  23. I agree with you tightline...few fish in the Bow need more than a 4wt...if you use 6+lb leader (maybe fish over 27") My buddy uses his 3wt to land stillwater 10lbers...but he uses good leaders and works the fish. If you actually palm the reel there are very times you will see your backing all year.
  24. Good to hear your birthday was a success. You need to rest up so you can start chipping ice on the lake for the middle of April. I'll need some open water for the return trip from the turkey collection adventure. Stay warm, Rob
  25. All you need is a 6wt, 7wt isn't necessary and is just more weight to cast all day
