  1. Some folks like to go for walks/floats along/in the river. Some like to cast fly lines. Some like to actually fight some fish (some are glutinous pigs like Rick). Some like to catch certain fish, a certain way. There's lots of space for all these folks. Personally, I love the folks who are out walking and casting acting as fine stewards/conservationists.
  2. OK, I better get to work on some tiny bugs. Thanks for the replies
  3. Are #18 2457s too heavy for a dry fly?
  4. What hook would you recommend snuffy?
  5. Not mine, but a cool fly. Some interesting reading here as well: http://www.tomsutcliffe.co.za/component/k2/itemlist/user/63-tomsutcliffe.html?start=200
  6. I was thinking something like this would work. Maybe an 1130 rather than 1120 would float better. Tiemco 2487 (vs 2457)
  7. What hooks are you using for #18-22 BWO? Has any one ever used little curved hooks like a Daiichi 1120?
  8. Here's hoping these good men don't disappear as our world keeps "evolving"
  9. Wonderful to see this province through your eyes...thanks for sharing your point of view. Love the way you capture the light.
  10. Hope you had a great day Jeff. Just 3 more months till you hit BH. Cheers, Rob
  11. ....a poodle
  12. Great fish. Was he swimming alone?
  13. I would think a grey pattern would work...crawdads are often pale after molting
  14. I used a round tube for years. Switched to a Fish Cat 4 about 4 years ago. I will never go back to a round tube. Fish cat is a way more maneuverable, plus you sit much higher out of the water (warmer). Fish cat is also a lot quicker for long distance travelling. I also store a dry bag in the space behind the seat so I can take more clothes/food/equipment with me than I could with a round tube. I fish with an 8lb anchor....just cause I like to catch lots of fish (rarely troll). My friends with pontoon boats use their Fish cat 4's 10x more than their pontoon boats (way less wind problems and faster setup time).
  15. A big problem outside of habitat issues is that bull trout are the biggest fish in the stream. People like to kill big critters. Humans have a thing for big, rare stuff and are willing to step outside of the rules to get it.
  16. 8lbs !!! Definitely a keeper. What a great Christmas present! Enjoy him
  17. The shaggy Griffon is Paul's. They all find birds eventually...hopefully close enough for a shot. You just need to be a fast runner hunting with Dave's dog. You're right Dutchie, me and the old girl are getting pretty grey around the edges....
  18. I'm heading out on Friday. Good luck with your chicken hunt.
  19. Sounds like an adventure. Next year is my year to hunt a moose though. Had a nice 6x6 come close this year, but he winded me before a shot opportunity arose. One day.... Ended up with a big 5 last week
  20. Nothing like watching big fish swim up and eat stuff. Thanks for sharing your passion.
  21. I follow the Sculpin hatch from the Milk river north to Ft. McMurray each spring. It is all about temperature and barometric pressure and takes some experience to key in on the signs to know when to move. I wish this guy would stop giving all the secrets away.
  22. Looks like another great adventure. Did you go to a different river this year?
  23. Great pic. First time I went up there we went to the valley south of there to find a great meadow with no lake...oppps. Scurried north along the scree to get to the lake. Little Loomis to the NE of Loomis doesn't have any fish I understand.
