  1. That's my basic concern with Heatly. I hope that he stays in Ottawa and they bury him on the fourth line for the remainder of his contract. I didn't really consider that with Ohlund.....maybe it is just the weather.....lol
  2. I'm with you Birchy. I'm getting pretty tired of it too. I mean, a guy lilke Ohlund, goes from a winning team in Vancouver to Tampa Bay??? They were second to last in the NHL last year. Edmonton is a significantly better team, but Ohlund goes there for what? The money? Edmonton could have offered him more, but we don't need another offensive defenceman, so why Tampa? The weather? It sure as hell isn't for the team. Or to get a chance to win.
  3. The signing of Bouwmeester was HUGE for Calgary. I didn't think he'd sign, but he did. Good on em. My concern is that they now have about $50 Million tied up in about 15 or 16 guys on a 26 man roster, according to Peter Mahr anyway. So how are they gonna sign 10 solid, quality NHLers on only $6 Million? Sure, they'll have a good defence, but they only have Iggy and Olli up front to put the puck in the net. Unless they send away some salary to fill some other holes, I'm afraid they might make another early exit.
  4. I'll be going to Secret Spot 2483-63 this evening. Can you let me know if it's ok? Thanks
  5. Nice pics! Big bear. I'da crapped myself.
  6. I currently have three TFO Signature Series rods, 1 2pc and 2 4pc. Other than the tip of the 2pc breaking somewhere between buying it and bringing it home, I have never had an issue with any one of them. Maybe the problem wasn't with the tip sections but the second section down that held the tip sections. Not a rod builder, but it had me thinking about it being the wrong diameter, etc. Anyway, I'd take the replacement rod and see if it happens again. Have you heard of this being a problem with other Axiom owners? If not, it may have just been one of those one in a million things.
  7. Coooooooooooooooooool! Thanks for sharing!
  8. It's not like they didn't try to keep him. They didn't want to trade him at the deadline as they needed him for the playoffs, all five games of it. They did try to sign him so that he would stay, but he opted for Free Agency. The fLAMES knew that there would be the possibility of this happening when they traded for him, it's not like this was unexpected. There were rumors in January about how Cammaleri was going to the Leafs as a free agent.
  9. They didn't pick up Jay, they picked up the right to talk to him. That's it. Nothing guaranteed yet. Heatly for Phaneuf isn't going to happen either.
  10. I don't drink Scotch, but if I found a bottle, I'd buy it just to say I have it.
  11. Get him the Bow River Pack. http://www.ickyflyworks.ca/index.php?cPath=32
  12. Fair enough. As I said, I'm no scientist. lol
  13. Nice fish! Love watching the nature go by too. I love where this sport takes me.
  14. I am by no means a "scientist", but I will go by what I have observed as a human being living in Calgary. Granted, I have only been in Calgary for 8 years, but this winter had to be the worst I have seen so far as snow is concerned. Spring didn't really come until June and the weather was on/off for weeks on end. Having no real history for me to personally go on, other than the big floods of 2005, I just think that the snow melt was a little more gradual. We had warm days, followed by cold ones, even more snow, going late into May and early June. This likley caused the "run off" to be gradual over time as opposed to getting a big flood all at once because the warmer weather was inconsitent until the snow was already all gone. In the city anyway. I have no idea what the mountain streams were like last year as this is my first full season of fly fishing, and I only made it out side the city to fish twice last year, so I have nothing to go on. But if the weather was like this in Calgary, the higher altitudes in the mountains likley kept it cooler than normal and fluctuated the temperatures there as well. No real heat waves this year yet, so the snow didn't really melt all that quick. What run off and debris we did have was due to FINALLY getting some consistently warmer weather. The snow was mostly gone by that point anyway, so it could explain why the water level changes are so insignificant, because the "run off" was more gradual. Again, I'm no scientist, but that's what I think might be going on.
  15. Just click the banner link on the board when you see it. Automatically gives you your discount code.
  16. I'll second that. Great service from a local guy.
  17. That's what I do. Only because the instructions on the back of my TFO Warranty card suggested it......
  18. Good idea Birchy, thanks for the tip.
  19. You might be able to find some access along the Anderson ring road in the SW too, which would be the 37th Street bridge. It boarders the Tsu Tina Nation, so you'd have to go down on the East side of the bridge, but the Creek runs right under it.
  20. And a 10% discount for clicking on the link from the board. I also just used them. Great service.
  21. Nice fish! I need to hit those mountain streams this year. Gotta break in my new cutty rod.
  22. Thanks guys. Hey, how about something like a Zonker or a Double Bunny? I could use something to chase bullies with. If I ever get a chance that is. lol
  23. Anything that will catch fish
  24. Yes, they do, but a $3 fly will piss you off even more.
