  1. LOL That's a gooder.
  2. Happy Birthday Chris. Go catch a big brown!
  3. I also use side pressure. When I was learning, they said that side pressure controls the head of the fish. Control the head, control the fish. Pulling the rod straight up, the fish can still drive side to side with little resistance, whereas you pull sideways, the fish has a harder time driving away from you, and if he turns into your pull, just pull to the other side. The Gospel according to Jim McLennan.
  4. And that is exactly why Renney was also hired as the Associate Coach. To make up for what Quinn lacks.
  5. South Fish Creek park in Sicome Lake. Take Bow Bottom Road off of Deerfoot south and keep going. Burnsmead, Bankside and the Boat Launch (all in Sicome Lake) are all good access points to the south bow. If you are looking at south of the city, Policeman's Flats is the most common.
  6. Nice!! Good job!!!
  7. I was out again today. I do like the length of the 9', so I'll likely go with that. It did feel good, but I think I'll try out the Sage again with my reel and line to see if I still notice that difference.
  8. On a Tuesday? Working.
  9. http://cnews.canoe.ca/CNEWS/World/2009/05/31/9632206-ap.html Seriously....WTF?
  10. I guess I should have mentioned that it would be another 5WT. I have a 7'6" 3WT I bought earlier this year for dry fly casting in the mountain streams. Even on the Bow. Beats re-rigging. Just toss the 5WT aside and grab the 3WT. I guess it depends on what you mean by "gear up". I had them put on a reel with a line, leader, etc. It's a different line than what I use, he said that they had the SA Trout line on there. Cast nice. I currently have a Cortland 444 Classic line on mine. I'm planning on going back on Tuesday with my own reel and line and trying them again, so I can get a feel of what it would actually be like for me. I think that I am leaning more toward the 9' again. It's been great for me so far, but I have always had that 8'6" in the back of my mind since I first took my casting lessons. The 8'6" one just felt better to me then too.
  11. Taco, correct me if I'm wrong......but Stupidest F***ing Thread Ever No?
  12. Hey all. Was out this morning at my local shop trying out some four pieces. I currently use a 9' two piece TFO Signature 1 rod, but I am looking to change it to a four piece for convenience sake. The two piece tube is just too damn long. lol Anyway, I tried out a four piece Sage Launch 9' and a four piece Signature 1 9'. I preferred the Signature 1 over the Sage, I just liked the action better. We also tried out the 8'6" in the signature 1 two piece (he didn't think that they had the four piece in stock, but he found out later they did) and I REALLY loved the feel of the 8'6". Aaron, the guy I was dealing with at Fish Tales, said that he loves that 8'6" and that it's a killer rod for dry fly fishing on the bow. My problem is, I have a 7'6" for dry fly and was looking to replace the 9' two piece as my everyday rod on the Bow, for nymphing and chucking streamers. The two piece as done me fine for that, so the four piece should do the same. Now my concern is, what do I get? I liked the 9', but loved the 8'6", that tiny bit less weight felt awesome. Aaron figured the 8'6" could nymph, but not as good as the 9' would. What are your thoughts?
  13. Like you, I have the Equinox. I just put my camera and my phone in the pocket on the upper left. On the shoulder strap. Fits fine. Unless of course you have a big DSLR or somehting, with a bunch of lenses and stuff. Then it wouldn't work at all. lol
  14. If you are looking for some thing a little less traditional, and would be looking for something functional, I would maybe suggest a chest pack. I use the William Joseph Equinox and I LOVE it. I was in the same boat you currently are last summer and was trying to figure out what to do. I just ended up not liking the idea of a vest. They just seemed too bulky and I couldn't find a design that I actually liked. Try some different options. Everyone has some different opinions of it, that can be found here..... http://flyfishcalgary.com/board/index.php?...p;hl=chest+pack Some other sites to check http://www.williamjoseph.net http://www.fishpondusa.com/ http://www.sierratradingpost.com/p/,1505F_...Sling-Pack.html Just my opinion of course.
  15. That last shot is just awesome. I could totally see my daughter being right into that.
  16. Whatever happens to be on Fuel 90.3 Best radio station.....ever.
  17. Well the Oilers have thier new Coach(es). Pat Quinn was hired on as Head Coach and Tom Renney as the Associate Coach. Kelly Buchberger stays on as Assistant Coach as well. Sounds like Tom and Pat both have three year contracts with a verbal agreement that Renney would step in as Head Coach at the end of the contract if Quinn decides to retire. http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=279979 Not 100% sure how I feel about this just yet. Both are proven coaches, successful with thier former teams and both have a history of coaching the kids. Sounds good on paper, but I'll wait until the season starts before I make a decision on it.
  18. now that's impressive. Good job!
  19. I have the TXS 5/7 from Wholesale that I purchased last year on my TFO 905 2PC and I absolutely love it.
