  1. Personally, for the Bow, I have a 6wt rod that I use exclusively for nymphing. For dries an 8'6" 5wt. Streamers (which I rarely do) a 10'0" 7wt. All have more than enough backbone for the fish on the Bow, and I know plenty of people who use anything from a 2wt to an 8wt on the River. All in all, it comes down to what you are most comfortable with and what you like the feel of best. Try a few out, lengths, actions, weights and buy what you like the feel of most.
  2. I have a feeling I may see this rod very soon.....
  3. Colin does do awesome work. I love the Dan Craft he built for me!
  4. Well, I guess on the bright side, they aren't sitting in direct sunlight as they are all in the trunk. It's just the heat that I am concerned about. Thanks for the heads up Doc.
  5. How so? Would it make the rods more brittle? how about the lines? :s
  6. Ok, so I basically keep my fishing gear in my car all summer long so that I can always be ready to fish when the moment strikes me (and my wife says yes), and I have noticed this year more than others, that its getting quite hot in there. Will this affect the quality or strength of my stuff? Lines, rods, etc? Thanks guys.
  7. Nice fish connie! Great job! Now, you're likely hooked forever. Start saving some money for more reels, rods, lines, flies, waders, wading boots, etc, etc, etc....
  8. What waders do you have now? I've often considered getting waist highs myself, but with the ability to turn pretty much any chest high into a waist high by simply rolling them down, I have lost my desire to get the pants. Nice to have the option to keeping them up in the colder days and mornings. When it gets too hot, just roll them down and you have your waist highs. My thoughts anyway. Sorry for the hijack, I don't have any experience with the hodgmans lol
  9. I have two of the Orvis Access mid arbor reels. One on my 5wt and one on my 6wt. Love them both. Light in weight and have been just fine for drag and stopping power.
  10. That's a hog!! Nice Fish!
  11. Really a personal thing based on your fish handling ability but I have always liked a net for larger trout, I find less stress on the fish before release and I can control a larger trout easier for extracting hooks. I don't always use use a net but decide on the situation. Many times I release a fish without a net and just unhooking a fish in the water never touching it our picking it up. If the area I'm in isn't conducive to this then I rely on the net. What the good doctor said.....
  12. Great Work! Excellent vid and x2 on the great releases!
  13. I was up in Jasper on the long weekend as well, and also saw this way too many times. Saw six bears on the trip to and from Jasper. Six black bears and two grizzlys. Awesome sight to see, except for the stupid people getting out of their cars, crossing the highway and standing there taking pictures. There was a Park Ranger there for the first grizzly we saw and she thanked us for actually staying in our vehicle, and was actively telling people to get back in their cars. When its man vs nature....nature wins. Always.
  14. So authentic, you'll be afraid to drink the water!
  15. Beauty! Good to see the river's doing well without me......
  16. PM Hawgstoppah. He's down that way. I'm pretty sure he could point you in the right direction.
  17. I've had both the grey and the bronze and MUCH prefer the bronze. Great for both bright and overcast days.
  18. Great vid! LOVE the soundtrack!
  19. Awesome work Smitty!
  20. Good job on a great site. Can't be easy with all the mud slinging that goes on, but I appreciate all the work the mods do. I also have had the pleasure of meeting a number of the members that have helped me with my fishing when I was just a noob, who gave me advice, introduced me to some new water and some great memories. Hopefully many more will come. Without this site, none of that would have happened. Thanks guys.
  21. How awesome is that! nice shootin' tex!
  22. Still paying others. Aren't you? At this point, I would rather pay others to do a good job than for me to do a crappy one that would just lead to frustration lol
