That's what BC calls a chinook salmon (what alaska calls a King salmon)
  3. Maybe... but I think Kipper's been great when he HAS to be great... which wasn't happening early in the year...
  4. Yeah and on the road where they got punked 6-1 earlier. Will be intersting to see just how good this team really is... I think that game's the "litmus test".
  5. Every shot I see of people fighting fish out there is epic. One of the prettiest places to fish in any season... for sure. how's the roads up there, snow pack n ice or do they sand 'em??

  7. How about that effort against SJ?? they looked damn good. I see a team that's really starting to come together. And Kipper is coming back around too. all is well in flames camp
  8. I probably hit that dog with the truck. At least they made something out of him
  9. Ok I posted this one elsewhere but no one read it. A man comes home to his wife after shooting a deer in the woods. They decide to cook some of the meat for dinner. They know their kids are very picky eaters, so they decide NOT to tell the kids what it actually is... but to let them guess. The kids guess a bit.... and finally give up and ask for a clue. Dad says... "well, it's something your mom calls me sometimes" The kid spits out the bite he was taking and yells to the others "DONT EAT IT - IT's ***hole!!"
  10. *another steelhead trip this fall... this time with high quality vid, camera's, and freinds for two weeks (it's gonna kick azz max ... fo sho!) *a few more days on palmer ranch this year. *buy a pontoon for Policeman's and REALLY learn that lake so that I can enjoy it (and outfish y'all) on it for years to come
  11. The best presentation for the "ball of yarn" fly... is to get down deep so it's right on the ocean floor, and make it look like it's rolling
  12. muuussstttt gooo fish... now...... fish.... good... ..........yeah...............soon.... Good on you for getting out I wish I could.
  13. Annnndddd the GOLD medal for diving goes to!!! SWEDEN!!! Holy crap what a BRUTALLY officiated game but our boys pulled through it. Guts and heart win every day of the week. I wish the NHL looked like this.
  14. My renter downstairs phoned up to see if we were ok , rofl... That 5 seconds left goal... wow!
  15. No that's the ultra compact thick arse peice of nylon rope And yes... it tasted frikkin terrific!!
  16. My favorite memory from this year would be swinging a bait rod all day for king salmon in alaska (the guide said that's the only way to get 'em) and then at the last hole of the day telling the guide I don't give a damn wether I get one or not at this point I am going to either go down in flames on the spey rod or die trying... so there I am in the Klutina River... swinging a big red flesh pattern I has tied up just for the occasion, when about 4th swing in the line goes tight at the end of the drift, I lift and feel the unmistakable THUMP, THUMP, THUMP... of HUUuUUUge headshakes... and then the fish slowly starts to move out to deeper water with my guide yelling at me to try to turn it for the shoreline... I managed my best by burying the rod in the water and giving it soft but firm pressure... just enough to turn it but not enough to piss it off and have it tear out line and hit the rapids (as 4 other clients had done just hours earlier at the same spot in the lodge's other boat)... the fish comesup against the shoreline and I work it, still slowly and tenderly, like I am pulling an unwilling dog by a leash... not enough to piss it off but just enough to slowly move it... it sawm up right beside us (water had less than a foot of clarity, so he didn't see us)... when he was in the right spot I slammed my rod straight up and the fish came to the top - this was my first sight of it - holy sh**t - Boom guide had it in the net and I was letting out some whoopin and hollerin people heard miles away... 47 inches - 40 pounds of Alaskan King salmon... something that had been on my list of "must do's" foerever... and to get him on the spey, was a fantastic sensation... the TFO deer creek held firm, as did Greg's knots :)
  17. Me and my son were at last night's game. Calgary looked slow in the first and half of the second but once they started to play the way they can play, they completely dominated the game. 6 goals on a night where Iggy does nothing... this is why I really like our team this year. I can't blame kipper for the goals he was actually very good tonight. the two softies that got by he never even saw them... total screen shots... the one that did get by them I give heatley full marks for it was a lazer. Aucion's goal on the delayed penalty was amazing, the whole place was rocking!
  18. Hey whoa whoa whoa.... you can't call it a streak if it's just "getting out".... a streak is a FISH in each month... come on boys.... don't cheat yourselves
  19. naw I'm ok now - sorry for the hijack here... what happened is on the 24th I woke up extremely sore and had "issues" with going to the little boys room becuase of my back, so in the morning I spent 3 hours in the urgent care room in okotoks. they gave me some new medications but I had a bad reaction to them and ended up in the emergency room that evening..(thought I was having a heart attack turned out to be extreme heartburn they said I was burning up on the insides and actually froze my stomach and throat) Got back home about midnite. all is fine now... anyways... back to the thread..
  20. I got a set of christmas lights that are a stringer of trout LOL other than that nothjin fishing related (what can ya get for someone who has it all?) Got ourselves a Wii under the tree though... My kids are whippin my azz... spent christmas eve in a hospital bed... that sucked..
  21. This deer watched me tie flies at Elkwater Prov. park for about 15 minutes
  22. I didn't get very much time to fish.. I probably fished the least amount of days per year ... in my life since I started fishing. Those days spent, though, where extremely high quality. Can't even begin to list all the fun I had this year when I did go out. -Steel in BC -King in Alaska -Bully fishing with old friends on the (insert SE BC river) -Coho in BC -Pink / Reds in Alaska -Cutts on (insert SE BC river) Too much fun... I may have missed some highlights , but the highlight of my fishin career.. is this
