  1. I would like to add my thanks as well. I stop in a couple times a day to the forum, and have learned a lot:)
  2. This is truly horrible news:(
  3. Roast

    My 2011

    Awesome pics:)
  4. I use to have a garmin Oregon 450 before by car was broken into. Great unit and I really liked having the touch screen. I would suggest checking out GPS city in town. Their prices were great and the people were very helpful.
  5. I have a Honda Fit. Awesome gas mileage (5.4L/100km) and I can haul my pontoon frame around in the car without disassembly. My wife and I both have fits, and will need to get trade one in for something bigger in a few years. However we both really like our cars and I am going to drive mine until it dies.
  6. That was great, thanks for sharing:)
  7. Check out this weeks Best Buy and Future Shop flyers. Both stores have several laptops under $500, with either dual core or quad core processors, 4-8GB of RAM and hardrives over 500GB. Its amazing what you can get for $500 bucks now:)
  8. It doesn't look as easy as it use to be... Check it out here with video
  9. If you own a mac, the tools in iLife are really powerful and included in the system. iMovie and iPhoto are very intuitive programs and easy for the beginner to learn. I haven't owned a pc in a few years (windows xp) and I am not sure what is included with new windows 7 systems. If you want to step it up to the next level, adobe premier and photoshop are some of the industry standards, however they are really pricy. You could buy a cheap mac (used) for the price of some of these suites. However I don't think that this is what you are looking for. Hopefully some pc users will chime in and give other options:) I think that most people are using hero/ go pro cams to shoot video now. Also a lot of the newer waterproof cameras can also shoot high quality video.
  10. Saw the post in the fishing forum and it reminded me of .
  11. Our master bathroom has it, and its awesome. We have the electric pad type by nuheat. I know that you can order custom pads for odd shapes if needed. Ours is also on a thermostat/timer that comes on before we get up in the morning, shuts off while at work then starts again before we go to bed. Its pretty slick. You can tell a huge difference in temp from the places with the pad to the few small places that don't have it. I know the pad is very slim, so it won't change your floor level a lot if you have some transitions:)
  12. When I was looking I checked out both a Dyna King Junior Trekker and Renzetti traveller and a norvise. In the end I went with a Norvise. I had been eyeing up the norvise at fishtales but after seeing Norm at the Fly Fishing Show, I was sold. I am really happy with my decision. It didn't take me long to get use to it, and I love it. I viewed it as something I would have for life. I tie everything using the standard inline jaws. The midge jaws may be nice, however I currently don't feel the need to go out and buy the conversion kit. I also love the automatic bobbin:)
  13. You should check out the fish tales spey-o-rama posting in the sponors thread. There would be a lot of people to give you opinions and they may even let you try out a rod or two:)
  14. When I was looking for wading boots, the rock grips were at the top of my list. I checked out Simms, however they were too wide for my foot. I wanted to get the rubber soles because I do a lot of walk and wade fishing. However, no shop had the rubber rock grips in stock. They were all on backorder and they were getting ship times around July. Maybe things have improved. I went with felt river walkers, and have been happy so far. Anyone seen them in sticky rubber patagonia's in stock in Calgary?
  15. great counter point:) Thanks for posting the article!
  16. Its apparently awesome. I have never cast it, however it beat out everything in this 5 wt shootout this year.
  17. I would highly recommend getting some bike shorts. They seem expensive for what they are, however they are worth it in my opinion. You can wear them under regular shorts/pant to avoid looking like a dork. I use these
  18. check ebay, they come up often:)
  19. I have heard good things about Force Fins, however they are pricey.
  20. Slight highjack, however I think that it applies to the original posters questions. I am interested in this as well. How does a 7'6" rod compare to an 8'6" rod. Why choose a shorter rod? Does it greatly affect the action? Is it a portability thing? I have never cast a rod that is that short, and want to know reasons why people choose short rods? For a river like stauffer/ ram/ highwood, what would be the ideal length an why? I know opinions will vary, however I am interested to hear everyones reasoning:)
  21. Maybe someone is willing to take this on:)
  22. I am interested to know your opinion on tankless hot water systems. Are todays systems pretty good, or are you best to wait a few years?
