  1. Yep, it was pretty clear from a quick look that his trailer was broken, and it's location did not seem to be an issue at all when I was there.
  2. I feel bad for the kids that will be starting pee-wee next season with no hitting. When they reach bantam they will be playing against some kids that will potentially be in their 4th year of hitting. I bet the injuries seen then will be worse than what they are seeing now in Pee-Wee.
  3. I would say much greater, in past years the only times I would see infected fish was post-spawn and it would only be 1 or 2 fish. Last year was the first time in 10 years I have seen the issue in the summer months.
  4. I don't believe that the increase in Sapro started last fall, but actually much earlier. I started noticing alot of browns affected with the fungus as early as June during runoff, and have pictures of several fish from July that were covered in Sapro (*note the pictures were taken to document the disease not to post on FB for ego boosting). I think people just started taking notice more in fall when the water was lower and it was easier to spot the fish.
  5. On the topic of redds, are there typically many rainbows spawning in the main stem? I saw a green crestliner Jetboat yesterday that was dragging what looked to be a big old rusty rotor off his anchor system so he was able to bomb the banks without backrowing. Looked to be a pretty good way to fish, but can't be good for the stream bed, especially during spawning season.
  6. I can't seem to skip to the last page of a thread when viewing from an i phone. Is there something i'm not seeing? I want to be able to check out the bow conditions without clicking "next" 126 times.
  7. If you really want areas that are easier walking for her knee, that would be my last choice. The whole north side of the river along that stretch has steep hills to descend to get to the river. If you want flatter easier access what's wrong with Mckinnons, police, legacy, fish creek.... Etc. Etc.... Anywhere but there really.
  8. Looks about the same size as the sandwich haha
  9. Love those split G2's on the whitetail, almost mule deerish.
  10. Sounds like very poor handling skills. Hopefully his buddy is alright.
  11. *hit, may have to change my position http://www.calgarysun.com/2011/09/29/hunte...s-hunting-buddy
  12. Although animals are "colour blind" camo still breaks up your silhouette far better than wearing solid colours. Camo is definitely not a neccesity, but any self proclaimed 20 year hunter should understand it's benefits.
  13. This was the guy that was shot while carrying a full sized decoy during rife season in Waiporous. Definitely a "high risk" behaviour quite different then walking into a stream to fish. If you are carrying around a decoy, then blaze orange would be smart.
  14. I caught a nice brown in the city yesterday with almost an identical growth. I figured it was an infected hook wound or something. I dont think poaching a fish is a good idea just to identify a growth/ wound.
  15. I've always preferred the acroynm PITA " pain in the ___". Seems suiting.
  16. Nice to see a reply that doesn't appear to be written by a PITA member with their head up their arse..
  17. Yes, I am seriously comparing the two. Like it or not, both are blood sports and even with proper catch and release you will inadvertently kill several trout in your lifetime. The diffence is that our native trout are in much worse shape than our black bear population numbers. I guess since we kill fish with a fly instead of a bullet its okay. Sorry you can't see the similarities from your hig horse. To each their own, I couldn't shoot a bear but I don't have the audacity to judge someone who chooses to legally do so.
  18. Shooting the bear in the head seems like it would be in self defence of a charging bear. They will not be allowed to keep the carcass. I can't believe the amount of people questioning these kids actions, reading the comments from the Suns website made me sick. Seems to me like they were good kids, and the one friend made a hell of a shot to save his friends life. I would rather my kids be out hunting in the woods then drinking in a parking lot. The people that put that grizz's life ahead of those 3 young adults need to give their head a shake.
  19. But it's okay to stab a fish with a hook, pull it through the water, hold it up breathless for a picture and send it on its way to be caught again? A little hypocritical? There is no shortage of black bears, hence anyone can shoot 2 on a general tag without a draw, the same can't be said about bull trout or cutties. PS I am not a bearhunter, but see no problem with someone excerising their right to legally hunt black bears.
  20. I notice alot of MEC reccomendations, but I remember a few years ago there was talks of MEC supporting anti-hunting groups. Where do they stand on fishing? Just something to note before you choose to support the brand.
  21. Ditto, never again will I buy Korkers. A few months of use and my foot was hanging out the side of them. Once I changed the soles, they never stayed in place again. The concept of interchangeable soles is the only thing going for them. Most over rated boot out there IMO.
  22. If I remember correctly something similar happened 2 or 3 years ago in Ontario. There was a string of home invasions targeting households with firearms. At the time they were thinking inside job, or someone was able to hack the registry.
  23. " the guy chucking worms or whatever ". Posts like that make you sound pretty arrogant, and give the guys story a little more credit. I'm no spin fisher but to assume every one of them is a bait chucking poacher is plain ignorant. Not a good way to build a client base IMO.
  24. Just wondering if anyone knows when the gates open to fish creek? Looking to go on an early float tomorrow.
