  1. God...I'd kill just to get a kid in the boat with Gameboy in tow, junk food en masse and not hear at least 6 complaints an hour. And you get the most amazing adventure kids in the world. Outstanding....feel free to send them my way anytime!!!
  2. that's so great....what a bunch of great guys we have on here. Glad you had a good night
  3. I won't be living too close to SJW for very much longer. I discovered this past week that I have a dark side that I quite like. And I like to have my cake and eat it too.
  4. But the bigger question is did the patch work for your hangover? That's the only reason I'd be willing to give it a go
  5. No No Bob....if that was the case, he would have said "on" and not "off". Gheesh...it's all in the wording.
  6. No Taco...never had asthma....fake or otherwise.
  7. OK...I got one. 2 elderly ladies meet at the park for their regular Monday morning get together. One says to the other "you come on the bus today". The other says "yeah, but I tried to make it look like an asthma attack".
  8. From my first post: I throw the tennis ball across the river for the third time....dogs swim out into the middle, take their sweet time, The first 2 times the dogs retrieved it right off the bat. The third time they decided to mess around with each other and were more tired I guess and the ball wound up going way downstream of even where I'd allow them to swim - much too far. I tried calling them back but knew they wouldn't come until they had the ball - but I did try. So...I didn't throw the ball anywhere close to where the guys were - in fact threw it upstream of where I was. Plus they were just standing in the river with their rods in the air, not unhooked and they weren't casting at the time....just seemed to be looking for risers. So, trust me when I say that it was COMPLETELY unintentional and that I went out of my way to avoid this situation - a situation that somebody else would have created had it not been me. The guys were just plain too close for it not to be a situation in my opinion.
  9. What....no more Bodum?????? Mind you...perc camp coffee over a fire is the bomb (although I did quite like your press coffee). You just gotta wait for the grinds to settle on the bottom. Kinda tough sometimes when a hangover is lingering and begging for caffeine.
  10. Well....sorry to disappoint, but I went against my inner grain and did/said nothing....I know....shocking to some. I had lots swirling in my mean little blonde noggin but with the amount of people there I didn't feel like giving a full-on lecture which would only come out with me sounding holier than thou because I was a wee bit incensed at the time (and there were kids around). So I bit my tongue to the point of bleeding and let the gents move on. When I saw them approaching land, had they said anything else, I would have pulled them aside and explained the facts of life of fishing near a gaggle of pooches and what they could expect. But I think they probably got it - and their fishing was ruined anyways so maybe they got what they deserved without me ruining my fun time with my dogs
  11. Found myself in a situation last week and before I tell you what I did/didn't do and the outcome, let me give you the facts and ask what you would have done. At Southland offleash area with my 2 dogs. They have fenced it off to a point where there's one area on the river where it's a sanctioned offleash area for the dogs to swim. Went there on Friday morning - there were at least 20 other dogs and owners there. I believe it's the only area where there is access to the river for the dogs on the East side, but not sure. At any rate, there were alot of dogs swimming, chasing balls etc. I see 2 fisherman walking up towards where all these dogs are swimming in the middle of the river, in the back eddy and all around. They are obviously looking for risers. They're getting pretty close to all the canine action. I can hear them talking - that's how close. I kinda wonder to myself why they would pick that spot to fish - it's a big river and I can't imagine there'd be alot of rising fish with all the dogs in the water and all the commotion. I throw the tennis ball across the river for the third time....dogs swim out into the middle, take their sweet time, guy makes a cast, ball continues to go down river - you see where this is going. My dogs eventually got the ball within about 20 feet of where he cast. Keep in mind he cast after I threw the ball. He then yells "THANKS...THANKS A F**K OF A LOT....THAT'S REALLY AWESOME". Then they proceed to trek upstream. Before I tell you what I did/didn't do, what's your opinion on this - did I deserve his comment? Should he have recognized he was in an offleash area and kept walking or accepted what was inevitable - if not by my dogs then someone elses?
  12. Well that clears everything up. My husband picked the trophy wife LOL
  13. Dave would like to apologize I'm sure. He's a bit of a motorhead in that big truck of his. I don't miss travelling the gravel much. But I do miss where it leads to....sigh....
  14. And fly tying is why they invented husbands LOL
  15. that's the point though Terry - FB is a timewaster - a brain numbing, monumental waste of time. But our winters are long and dark and there's FAE to do some days LOL
  16. I'm glad I don't live in the NW....they always seem to get the brunt of the shitty weather.
  17. Seriously guys...if my husband can figure out Facebook anyone can
  18. On a creeping scale of 1 to 10 your page is a minus 5...unless I see pics of cute little Sean - then I do.
  19. the slump being fishing and "otherwise" I"m sure
  20. Allow me to take you out sometime and demonstrate how I mistakenly and sloppily and full of remorsefully cast into the back of a raft as it drifted through the run I was fishing some 10 feet away from me at the Douglasdale bridge. And how I used my outside voice to let the young gentlemen and ladies know that next time my cast would be a little more accurate and they'd need a foot pump when I was done. Sometimes the best lessons for ignorance are through illustration. And just a question regarding drifters vs waders. I've been rowing for 8 odd years now, but just still getting used to my drift boat. I've never had an encounter with a bank angler - always looking downstream and planning my route dodging boats and trying to hit good water and avoiding the waders. But....is it wrong if a guy is standing on the bank, casting to the inside of a run/seam and I drift through and put my angler in the front in position to cast to the outside of the run/seam? There is plenty of distance, the lines/hooks will never meet and, really, the same water is not being fished. I would never do it if a guy was working the middle of the run...but I think it's OK to work the other side of it. Am I wrong?
  21. Trust me...this works. Drive to Douglasdale with the most expensive bottle of wine in your basement, give it to Lynn, let her tap you on the head with the magic stick her granddaughter found at the park that will make chocolate and stickers and fish stay on the hook and you'll be good to go. When may we expect you?
