  1. Found out after the fact. Anglers have to be better at reading county maps before they leave the city. They are available online. Try ihunt app. No excuses #notmyproblem
  2. Some hatch chasing trout slobs camped on our property and left a mess of human refuse and garbage. No wonder landowners are getting pissed off with actions like this. The Raven and North Raven are getting lots of pressure. This type of stuff pisses me off. I posted a picture of their rigs so if you know them better get them to clean their act up.https://www.dropbox.com/s/bzyifd5ze443ee6/551073839.jpg?dl=0
  3. Content is one persons opinion. Opinions are like 5 weights everybodys got one.
  4. There is also an open house event put on by the proponent of the pit at the Butte Hall on June 23, 2014 from 4-6 PM, well before any brown drake hatches start. If we fill the hall with angry flyfishermen it might send a message.
  5. Nice to see somebody get off their computers and put some relevance to this thread. Taco you don't ride a high horse do ya. Refreshing to see....
  6. If you fish the Red Deer River from the Dickson Dam to Tolman Bridge please help out with the Red Deer River Angler Survey. All that is required is a bit of your time after you get off the water to fill a short creel card highlighting your angling experience. This information will help fisheries managers set limits and regulations on this reach of the river. This project was started by local Fish and Game Clubs in Red Deer, Dickson and Drumheller. Please click on the attached link to get more information on the project and to access forms that can be filled out and emailed to the project address they can even be filled out and emailed on a smartphone. Or find one of 17 creel boxes at the more popular access points along the river. Thanks for helping out. http://db.tt/WpGXJ8Dw
  7. My avatar is a Pyrimid Lake trout and have fished it twice. Get a cheap flight to Reno and drive 45 min north east and try it for yourselves. I think they have a spring closure right now but they stack up in March which is the best time to fish them. I fished them in January and October and caught fish without a ladder if you find a spot that drops off fast enough (Spider Point). They have a replica of the world record in the Cabelas in Reno which is close to a Girard from the Koot. Super fun chasing these trout....
  8. Clearwater is not an option upstream of 22 there are sweepers and log jams all over the place. Ram is also full of drops chutes and hairpin corners log jams and you name it. To pick the water conditions when the fishing is good and enough water to avoid the dangerous spots is key.The NSR has some nasty water you don't want to dump in and loose your gear, fishing is poor to boot from the daily fluctuations from the dam. It always takes longer than you think to make up time on a pontoon as they are pretty slow just ask the gentleman and his wife that we saved in the dark on the Red Deer. They had never been on a pontoon and better yet in the dark. She jumped in the drift boat and I rode her pontoon 1 hour to the take out, they were headed for disaster. Stick to small trout lakes and big rivers like the Bow to fish another day.
  9. I have had the 140 for a few years now. It is kind of flakey when you power it up, it has troubles getting lock on bottom sometimes and I have to mess with the power button turning it on and off and mess with the battery connections. When it works it is easy to read and the side scan is cool in locating fish in the general area. It also eats batteries which could be minimized with rechargeables. It is super portable and seems to be out of the way while fishing. Got mine at Costco.
  10. Now we need some no biased inventory of the impact on the invertebrates and a decent population estimate done using the reach upstream of Sundre as a control. No bioprostitutes making up what plains midstream wants to hear. If there damages let the hounds out and fine them dearly and do something positive with the money.
  11. These fish have arrived in the Red Deer system as far upstream now as the mouth of the Medicine River. In fact they have been found in breeding populations in Tindastoll Creek 15 km up the Medicine. It takes alot to kill them as they can almost live out of water. On the bright side pike would love them.
  12. 10 years, 15 years or 20 years trees seem to grow back. Legislated forest regeneration for this area will ensure there will be trees to cut down in 90 years again or not. Incrimental growth for this area of the province will out do the high elevation white spruce and subalpine fir ecotype in the before mentioned picture....my bad. Lodgepole pine can grow 40 cm a year if the conditons allow if the range maggots (cows) don't browse them or get trampled by flower sniffers and OHV users.
  13. [/img] Heaven forbid it will look like this in 10 years, the fish will still be there, the wildlife will still be there. The city of Calgary looks so different than it did 20 years ago, oh no change will get us. Get over it! The landscape looked much different 100 years ago too do you think the settlers had a protest when the trees re-colonated the foothills and prairies? Go onto Glenbows archives and see what this area looked like back then to get some prospective. I will be pulling out huge bulls from the Castle as the rest of you bleeding hearts cry yourselves to sleep next summer. Just saying..................
  14. I think some of you whom fit into the 7X crowd that brag about 40 fish days in the summer are more to blame than a few crazy ice fishermen. Nobody is free of blame I know I have had some hot fish not release so well after being pulled around the bay for 10 minutes. It is sure is easy to point fingers for some of us who know it all........
  15. Yep sure do but don't throw my empty cans in the river and use anglers for pilons. You also won't be seeing me ripping up and down over the redds because it is a nice warm day and I need to burn some gas or dragging my anchor through redds like I saw some fly anglers do in a jon boat in years past. Common sense is not that common anymore................
