  1. Weedy1, little do you know that my screen name on eBay is not rickr, it is Jackies_Antiques. SNAP! Here is my about Me page: http://members.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?V...ackies_antiques Oh oh, wait a minute, did I just tell everyone that my eBay name is Jackies_Antiques. No it isn't, its Rick's Ball Busting Sports and Outdoors. Promise. Crap. I do like the Pink rod however, but I already have a perfectly functional 5 wt. I think some of you may have seen it? Now if it was a 3, I'd be all over it. It would look great with a new Bauer reel. Anyone know where a fella could find a nice pink and yellow sweater?
  2. LF 25.5 (but so pretty, who cares) Rock 23.5
  3. I ain't skeered, though I probably should be!!
  4. I actually voted for the red as well. Will look nice with my yellow rod.
  5. So I certainly was not thinking fat, but wanted something a bit beefier than like a floss (my fly tying ignorance is showing through, I'm sure). So do I just say "thin Chenille" or is Vernille readily available?
  6. Hawg, don't feel bad. There's more meat on Ashley Olsen than Greg!!
  7. Thanks, but it may be fatter than what I had in my head. Actually, there is a saltwater trout lure that has similar colors and if any of these actually get tied, I'll bring a couple down this summer and give 'em a roll!
  8. Hook : Daiichi # 2441 size 2/0 Thread : Hot Pink Tag: Flat Silver Tinsel Tail: Charteuse Bucktail Butt: 5 strands of peacock herl twisted into a rope Rib: Add red ribbing Body: Bright yellow ultra or micro chenille (hope that makes sense?) Pass on to Troutlover
  9. Hey all, I know this is going to sound lame, but I don't have the foggiest idea what the next step of a tie is, what my options are, and what a steelie fly even looks like. I don't mind participating, in fact it would be fun, but where can I do a bit of quick research as to what my options are?
  10. Yep, same thing, but mine was in my vest. Sticky.
  11. Here is one I caught in the early Spring on the Crow. Rainbow (I thought) with very similar colors, but look at the tips on the pectorals. Is it a cuttbow?
  12. My best fishing year ever, but like Hawg said, that has more to do with the people I met than the fish I caught. But the fishing part was really special as well. Rivers/Streams fished: Bow, Oldman, Highwood, Crow, West Castle, Livingstone, Vicary Creek. I fished a couple of neighborhood lakes, but really very little still water fishing this year. I live too close to the Bow. Species caught and years best: Rainbow 26.5" Brow 22" Cutthroat maybe 17" Cuttbow don't remember size Bull 17" Brookie maybe 8" The Brown, Cuttbow, and Bull were firsts for me. Saltwater (on a fly rod) Redfish 24" Speckled Trout 10" (my goal for next year is a 20"er) Sand Trout Spanish Mackerel 20" I'd like to list all the guys from the site I've met or fished with, but I'll forget someone and feel bad. Thanks to all of you and to the moderators of this board for your invaluable service.
  13. Borrow my wade vest. The inside right pocket is smothered in gink. Stupid cap!
  14. It jumped? No way! Sorta like Rita McNeil dunking a basketball don't you think? In my best Scotty from Star Trek voice "you canna break the laws of physics cap'n"
  15. OK, there is no sarcasm in this post. This is a legitimate question: Just how good was the fishing here back in the day? I know that I have been extremely fortunate in who I have fished with, but I am able to go out by myself on multiple river systems in this province and catch fish pretty much every time with only one year of flowing water experience. You would be hard pressed to go where I am from with no knowledge of saltwater fishing and catch fish as quickly. I find the fishing here nothing short of spectacular. So while I am sure things could be better, can someone (or I am sure lots of someones) tell me how it could be managed better? And don't just give me fly fisherman perspective. There are other users to consider as well.
  16. I doubt it is bs. They cannot afford the risk of a failure after a member of the public brought the issue to their attention. Even though it does not appear to be a problem, it looks very good on you for pointing it out to them. Very nice job.
  17. oops,double post.
  18. Don't want to get too technical here but: I don't see where you interpolated. You extrapolated using the known value of your hand to estimate the size of LK2s hand, then extrapolated the size of his hand to the size of the trout. Now if the trout was between the size of your hand and LK2s hand, you could have interpolated. Also if you knew of something that routinely fit into your hand that was larger than LK2s trout, you could have interpolated it to the size of the trout. But if that were the case, you would be posting pictures of said object on a whole other website. Unless of course it works different in metric.
  19. 27? Hard to tell with the amazing fatness!! (the fish I mean)
  20. I have a pic somewhere of my son when he was 6 yrs old holding a red that came up to his chin. It was around 40" or so. Biggest I've ever caught was probably around 46. Just giant. However they can get to 80 lb. The one pictured above was the only one I've ever caught on a fly rod. Most memorable single fish of my life. LF-26 LK-I'd say 6, but for some reason I have a hard time estimating anything around the 6" mark. I seem to always guess big. Must be a genetic (or possible a gender?) thing.
  21. The Red was 24. Sure looks bigger don't it? It wasn't a perspective shot on purpose, but it definitely worked out that way.
  22. Man, I hope you get a Roosterfish on a fly rod. That would really, really rock! They are supposed to be brutes.
  23. Here's one of mine. Going south a bit.
  24. Well, with your hands 6 feet out in front of you it is somewhat hard to tell, but I'm gonna say 26.
