  1. Shuttle Cock buzzer - here is an example.
  2. have you tried a shuttlecock buzzer. it's an english pattern using cdc to float the fly at the surface. you can tie the body any colouration like a chromie or black or olive...
  3. It looks fairly good. The only thing I would change is to set the eyes a bit further back, and go a bit sparser on the hair. Check out these videos on how to tie the Clouser. Check out the Bob Clouser Interview from the last WCFFE in Calgary.
  4. Cool looking chironomid. Have you thought about just using a red thread instread of the floss? I was just reading an article in a magazine today about thread midges.
  5. The trout pond sounds cool. I can't wait to see the new venue. As for the outdoor pond, remember it is Calgary, and we could alway get hit with one of the chinooks that gives us the +20 in January.... We just chainsaw out some ice, enough to cast into anyhow....

    Mysis Shrimp

I just made it up actually, but I did try it out today, and I had a couple nice bows on it.

    Fry!

Cool shots max. the first looks like a home aquarium. I need to get an optio too. Looking on ebay, they can be had for under 300 now. That's pretty reasonable.
  8. I have a collection of mutant hooks I have found over the years.
  9. You could always looks for a second hand SLR with a basic lens. The Canon Rebel 6MP is reletively affordable now since the new 8MP / 10MP models are now out. Also the Nikon D40 is a great camera. i have used it to take some beutiful pictures. If you are buying new, you'll want to increase you budget to araound 1500. This would give you a decent beginner camera like a canon or Nikon and allow you to get a few accessories like extra batteries and tripod memory etc. They are a lot of fun to use, and taking advantage of the manual modes will drastically improve the artistic quality of you photos.
  10. It reminds me of a joke we used to tell in grade school. Something about a blond going fishing with 10 fishermen...
  11. Click here if the movie does not play. I'm still shaking my head at this one....
  12. Thanks for the reminder Sarah. It's a good idea you had that lesion taken care of. My Uncle is going through some treatments for skin cancer for some spots he left too long.
  13. http://www.cpanel55.gzo.com/~flycal/board/...p?showtopic=414 here is a little Mysis I tie. Easy pattern to tie. 14. One reason the fish may be bigger is that they may be sea run varieties. Not feeding solely on bugs, but browns are piscivorous, so abundant minnows would help grow the fish quickly. Also, since they are an invasive / introduced species, they may not have a natural predator base to cull older / larger fish.
  15. Hey, what are friends for. I fell in the water one time, filled my waders, everyone just laughed.... If I was there, I would have laughed too.
  16. you can also use Diamond Dubbing or Arizona Peacock dub if you don't have ice dub. They have subtle differences but the Diamond Dub may be easier to find in Alberta.
  17. Is Mother's still around on 17th? I used to love that shop. Guitar works was also a great shop.
  18. looks good Sarah. Sexy legs too, I wouldn't shorten them any.
  19. Wow, I've watched this video like 20 times and bnever noticed it was a grayling. As soon as the pike strikes, you can see the dorsal fin. You have a good eye.
  20. look closely and you see it's the second pike coming to attack the one he's releasing. It's a scary thought.
  21. Pike are lots of fun. Long saltwater streamers or bull trout streamers will work. Clousers as well. I'm not sure what the fish are like this time of year. Before you get your first pike, watch this video. Keep an eye out for the second pike to make an appearance.
  22. Actually, I think he's working on a mac version and a Unix / linix version. (I think it does run under Lindows)
  23. Superfly was written a long time ago. I think it's been shelved. I have my fly source running again. Had some issues with power outages here yesterday. I'll leave it up overnight, so try and log on and download. We did have a version at the FFE in february that had a couple hundred patterns from the Flyangler database. I'm not sure if Kevin will be back again this year, but they are working on version 2.
  24. Got a recipe for that Kamloops Caddis Pupa? Looks like a hot pattern.
