  1. They are some of the best eating, and their skin just peels of so nicely. No, this isn't my picture... but it's funny.
  2. Lay the tag end of the fire line along the shank of hook you are tying it to. Use tight wraps of thread front to back lashing the fireline ends to the shank. You can add some extra durability by doubling back the tag end and tying it down.

    Couple Days Ago

    Nice looking bows.
  4. Hey Mitch Take a length of fireline and fold it in half. Thread the fold through the eye of the hook from the bottom of the eye. you will now have a loop. pull the loop over the bend of the hook and then take out the slack. The fireline should hold the hook at the eye. Tie on the loose end of the fireline onto anoth hook. I ussually tie the stinger point up so that you have one down one up. I hope that makes sense to you.
  5. When I first started tying, I did keep a binder of patterns I picked up. I would draw the fly list the materials and add tying instructions... That got old fast. It was a lot of work. When i need to keep a pattern now, I tie up a prototype and put it into a piece of foam I have on the wall to keep track of patterns. I label them with a name and when I need to reference them, i just pull it out. For patterns I don't use much, the flysource program is great at keeping track of them. BTW, you can swap the .fly files on here and on flyangler.ca. That and all the databases on line can give me pretty much anything I need. One other book to consider having is the compendium of canadian fly patterns. It have a massive collection of patterns inside.
  6. Sweet dude. It's one more than I've landed on a two hander.

This is done if the thread is a duplicate, if there is nothing constructive to be said on the current subject, or if a thread has been moved to another forum. As an example, threads that are trolling for people to respond will most likely be closed. Trolling will not be permitted in the forums when it is deemed controversial, inflammatory, irrelevant or off-topic or with the primary intent of provoking other users into an emotional or disciplinary response or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion. Move Thread Moves a thread to another forum more suitable for the current discussion. This may happen in the middle of a thread if the discussion has ventured off-topic. Delete Thread Done in the most extreme case, this function completely removes the thread or post from the message board. General Guidelines for Moderating Moderators have their own guidelines too, in addition to the rules above and have been asked to use diccression in moderating the forums: Closure or deletion of threads not agreed upon: Rather than censoring a post that a moderator doesn’t agree with, we ask that they reply with their own constructive counter-argument/criticism. Deletion of threads: Moderators shall use close instead of deleting a thread. Threads or replies should only be deleted if it blatantly goes against the posting guidelines. Post a notice when moving threads: If a moderator feels that a thread belongs in another forum, the moderator must post a notice before it is moved as a courtesy to others. Visit the discussion forums/message boards as frequently as possible Moderators shall review all the new topics posted as frequently as possible in the discussion forums that they have been assigned to moderate. ========= Revisions ========= We reserve the right to amend or change the code of conduct at any time and encourage you to periodically review these guidelines to ensure you are in compliance. ======================== Acceptance of Guidelines ======================== By using the FlyFishCalgary.com Discussion Forums/Message Boards, you agree to be bound by the terms of this Code of Conduct Agreement and any modifications made to it.

  17. Ok, Last call for anyone wanting to take part in the pool. If you want to join, send me your picks today sept 30th. Poolies, you will need to have your picks to me by the end of today. Good Luck all.
  18. You likely won't find the Straggle here in Canada. If you want the real thing, you would need to make a mail order. The tri-lobal hackle is pretty cool stuff, but the cactus chenille is the closest to Straggle you will find here.
  19. We have one setup at flyangler - http://flyangler.ca/index.php?option=com_f...s&Itemid=42
  20. Sure... but sooner is better. Any 12 flies are acceptable. They don't have to be all alike. It will give the winners a better spread. Nope... I removed the enforcers - I'm not sure of the criteria they use to determine who is an enforcer, so we'll go on positional scoring.
  21. We've only been able to have fur children so far....
  22. We are working out the details now, but it shouldn't be too long before we have FFC shwag available.
  23. Griffin Montans Mongoose. I've tied nearly 10,000 flies and it's still like brand new. Under 200, comes with a hard case and a couple tools. Before that it was an HMH Pro Vise, A Griffin Odyssey, Griffin Spyder, and a couple Thompsom A style cheapie to start on.
