flyangler Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 I don't loooooove either of these videos, but who sings the song better? Gord or Sarah? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sle2_E_Xt-c http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J1oiiE7CyZ0...feature=related Quote

Weedy1 Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 I need to know why you're asking before I comment. Sounds like an inside argument is going on. Quote
TerryH Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 I'm showing my age here by confessing to being a Gordon Lightfoot fan -- I still have a ton of his records (remember what those are?). There's no doubt in my mind, the best video is Lightfoot's -- he wrote the song and he knows how it's supposed to be sung. Terry Quote
Guest guito Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 Gordon L is my choice also, sarahs seemed really slooooow. I don't loooooove either of these videos, but who sings the song better? snakeman Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 I haven't heard anyone cover a Lightfoot song and have it sound better than the original. The man is a national treasure. Quote
ladystrange Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 i was going to listen, glad i read further on... i cant stand gordon lightfoot. O.D. when i was a child. Quote
SilverDoctor Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 Lightfoot Twas a fav of mine my by for years. My focus shifted after hearing the haunting Sara Mclachlan version of Wintersong. Gordons version reminds me of nature's course and missing the one you love. Sara's is more like unrequited love. Loving the unreachable. Funny how two artists can say different things with the same words. Quote
reevesr1 Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 Sara's is more like unrequited love. Loving the unreachable. What, like a stripper? Sorry SiverDoctor, but since I had no chance of matching the eloquence, I decided to take another path, one I was more comfortable with. Quote
flyangler Posted December 21, 2007 Author Posted December 21, 2007 I have to admit, I have to keep my eyes closed when I click on either one, but I prefer SMcL's version. Gord sounds like he just wants to get it over with. SilverDoctor and I think alike on this one. Quote
SilverDoctor Posted December 23, 2007 Posted December 23, 2007 What, like a stripper? Sorry SiverDoctor, but since I had no chance of matching the eloquence, I decided to take another path, one I was more comfortable with. Eloquence Ea? No more farting at the kitchen table for me, no siree!!! Quote
rusty Posted December 23, 2007 Posted December 23, 2007 Gord is pure gold, baby. Would take his version anyday. Far as I'm concerned, Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald may be the greatest tune of all time. Quote
