nomad
Trying to arrange a wedding for next year. Anyone know of any interesting places to hold such an event in the Calgary area? I suppose we'll go the hotel route if we have to, although I was hoping for something a bit different. Approximately 100 people in attendance. Wedding and reception will likely be held in the same venue. Thanks for taking the time to respond.
SanJuanWorm
Casino? Glencoe curling club? Some restaurants have basements with enough room.
birchy
My wife and I got married in the Best Western Hotel on the corner of Mcleod Trail and Southland Drive. It is now a Delta I believe, but still the same owners. They have two buildings seperated by a +15 that goes over Fairmont? Dr... Each building has some really nice rooms on the main floor so what we did is had a late afternoon wedding in one room, then everyone walked across the +15 to the other building and we had the reception in the other room right away. Lots of "that was the best wedding we've ever been to" comments followed..

cheeler
http://www.al-azhar.ab.ca/shrine_centre.htm Right beside the Bow in NW Calgary, in case the wedding gets boring, or you need an escape route. There`s also a few ethnic clubs around (Polish Canadian, German Canadian) if you`re looking for somewhere smaller. Or if you need it to be really cheap, hold it in Balzac. The Chamber of Commerce is a good venue for that, nice room, lots of history and a centralized location. -al

Guest Rocknbugs
I went to a work function at Heritage Park. Kinda cool? My sister got married at the Rotary House on the Stampede grounds, my wife and I like it so much that we got married there to. Its kind of like being inside a huge log cabin and you can have the wedding ceremony, reception and dance/party all in the same place, between the ceremony and reception everyone just wondered over to the Casino and bar for a couple hours. There is also an old stone fireplace in a setting out back that is really good for taking pics around. Do yourself a favour and check this place out, its awesome. Heritage Park is pretty cool to Ive been to one there as well.

jimbow
calgary pioneer hall (not sure about the name) in parkhill. very nice spot with a great view of the city, the elbow and the mountains if the clouds are lifted. community halls are another option. bigalcal
Shriners Temple in Bowness is nice. Wedding overlooking the lagoon and reception in the hall, or the Readers cafe just south of the Stampede grounds. Very nice!

ladystrange
you could do the wedding at the camp out... maybe a 2 f or 1 deal if you make it the same weekend DBT i'm thinking the fiance might not go for that. and probably not the in-laws to be either.
