cheeler
Ask rickr! The ones I have seen pulled out came from slow moving water on san juans.
SilverDoctor
Caught quite a few on SanJuan worms and buggers. Look for slow deep pools with muddy bottoms.

monger
I met a guy who specifically targeted them (couldn't be bothered with trout). Full or sink tip line with small white streamers in slow, deeper holes. A few of our crew have got them on San Juans
ruffsranger
Just curious as to why you want to catch them. Probably just for something different I suppose. Caught a few in La Ronge a few years ago while Walleye fishing. Not much fight or fun to catch. They were like an eel and wrapped around my arm while netting. Up there they are considered a trash fish.

vhawk12
Are they not really good eating? Are they not AKA Ling Cod? I've just heard, never tried them though.
PeteZahut
I have eaten one out of Diefenbaker years ago. The mid section down to the tail is the better meat. Found it a bit greasy but actually not too bad. Refused to keep any more as I really think they are disgusting.
albertatrout
Are they not really good eating? Are they not AKA Ling Cod? I've just heard, never tried them though. They are by far the best, flaky meat with no fish taste at all. I like to go get a feed of them at first ice but not via a fly rod. The only thing wrong with them is short freezer life. They are really easy to catch with bait, I've never caught one fly fishing.
