fishinglibin Posted March 13, 2011 Posted March 13, 2011 Starting the other half on the fly this summer. Almost always on the Bow. Would you guys suggest a 9 ft 6 wt? I think this may be good for still water as well. Any feedback is appreciated. Thx Paul Quote
Taco Posted March 13, 2011 Posted March 13, 2011 That GL3 would be a decent starting point for your wife. Quote

Muffin Posted March 13, 2011 Posted March 13, 2011 I started with a Reddington Cross Action 9 ft 6 wt rod and loved it. I do most of my fishing on the bow and a little bit up various rivers around Kananaskis country. Other then #16 and higher dries I have had good luck with everything else, streamers, nymphs, hoppers. Great place to start I feel. Quote

Jayhad Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 Pay for her to take a lesson from a qualified woman casting instructor and then let her choose the rod..... by casting it. Don't scrimp on it, if a TFO isn't good enough for you........you know the rest you're married Quote
KingSalmon Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 There is a company called Elkhorn from Colorado that produce some fine fly rods, and they have some that are customized for women. I bought my fiancee a 9'0" 5 wt a couple of years ago and she loves it! I have been known to cast it from time to time too because they are really great rods...yea I know its a chick colour lol. Casts close in comparison to my GLX StreamDance rod. 1 Quote
