Global Warming Theorists Computers Hacked

Yes because Sarah Palin, Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity, and Rush Limbaugh are so much more credible and trustworthy. -
Have to agree. I think it's partly because the production quality is dismal compared to the Rio video. When he started using the pizza plate and straw to demonstrate the casting plane I actually laughed out loud. About half an hour of the two hours is useful.

Did a head to head comparison today with the Rio Skagit Flight and Airflo Compact Skagit on a Z-Axis 5126. The Rio was 425 grains and the Airflo was 420. Used a 15 foot Rio type 3 tip on both and a couple feet of 10lb Maxima. The Flight doesn't turn over big flies as well as the Compact but I was able to get around the same distance out of both heads.

Tried one today and I liked it.

I recently switched my SJW hooks for the same reason. I use either the Dai-Riki 700B or the Daiichi 1870. The 1870 is my preference and I haven't poked any eyes or brained any smaller fish since I started using them.

Head down to Fish Creek Park. Lots of decent fishing around there and you'll probably run into other fly fishers. Like gottalovecutts said watch where they're fishing and try talking to them. Most people you meet on the river are happy to help a new guy.

It's been a long time since I took any economics courses, but I believe this is true of steel and lumber. Not sure about oil. We export steel to the US and buy it back as a Ford or export lumber to say Sweden and buy it back as Ikea furniture. Don't know if those are valid examples, but they illustrate the point. This factors in to our trade deficit or surplus. If we import more than we export, then we run a trade deficit and a trade surplus is the opposite. Earlier this year we posted our first trade deficit since 1976. This doesn't make us a third world country. That's based on the human development index and other factors. Canada ranks as one of the most developed countries in the world according to that index. -
I think if you're just starting out you would want to try as many different lines as you can and determine which you prefer. I've cast long bellies, mids, scandis, and skagits. For my fishing I prefer skagit for sink tips and scandi for floating work. At the end of the day it's about getting the fly in front of the fish and enjoying yourself while doing it no matter what kind of line or rod you're using.

Yup, leave it be and let nature take its course. Leave the biomass in the river. There's also a chance it made a meal for another fish.

Idiots Get Arrested By Transit Police

Ah, if anyone was ever deserving of a tasing or face full of mace it's these morons. -
Exactly. I don't know why so many people think they need huge drag and tons of backing for trout fishing. I use a Hardy LRH Lightweight for dry fly fishing on the Bow with about 50 yards of backing and just enough drag to keep from backspooling. I've yet to see my backing even when taking large rainbows on 5X tippet. When I use my 2wt I'd say I strip the line in by hand rather than putting fish on the reel 95% of the time.
-
What were you disgusted about exactly? I was there a couple times over the summer and didn't see anything repugnant.
-
Got my Greys Streamflex at South Bow. Nice rod, good price. Don't know how it compares to a G series though.
-
Heh, I totally threw that in there to see who'd notice. I have an Ugly Stik gathering dust in the closet and did troll bait in the Pacific a week ago. Not ashamed to admit it.
-
West Winds had 4 or 5 copies in stock when I stopped by today.
-
Same reason that every rod thread turns into "my rod is better than your rod". Seriously, I think it's just because everyone wants to think their stuff is the best (because why wouldn't they have bought the best?) and loves their stuff so much they want everyone else to love it as much. I'll bet it happens on every other forum out there: Chevy vs Ford, LCD vs plasma, Mac vs PC, Shimano vs Berkley, etc.
-
I think I have a solution for this: 1. Purchase flies 2. Purchase bottle of head cement 3. Apply head cement to purchased flies 4. Lose fly on bottom/fish/tree long before it would've fallen apart without the head cement

Thanks for the info. I'm not interested in it myself, just trying to help a friend sell some stuff.
-
Also additional points of failure since you're adding two more knots into your system.
-
Yeah, that's what it is. It's a true warranty unlike a lot of the fly rod ones. Manufacturer defect is lifetime warranty without charge. Repairs will cost you money, though the first repair is free.
-
I think the Korkers are also less expensive than the Simms and Patagonia boots. Remember, the warranty is always built into the price. The lifetime warranties usually only cover manufacturer defect - with Simms the first repair is free and after that you have to pay. I'll still take the Simms over Korkers any day, but that's a personal preference.

Seems to be up and running right now. Probably just a DNS or hardware/software issue over the weekend when nobody was really around to fix it right away.

A friend of mine is trying to sell some fly fishing stuff that belonged to his father in-law and I'm trying to help him figure out the value of the items. One of the things he has is a Roots Dubbing Machine made in Kamloops. I had never heard of it before and it seems the company is no longer in business. Google searches haven't helped with much. If anyone has any sort of info, particularly on how much they sell for I'd appreciate it. PM's are fine.

Sundance is a man-made lake. If it were a natural water body I might agree with you to an extent, but it isn't.
