Hmm my experience has always been that a rising river has shitty fishing. It did hold true for me today. But maybe it's the mind game. Managed one old fat 18-20ish mangled bow ripping a streamer below police. Lots of plant matter getting stirred up. Not great for the swing, or anything for that matter.

So I guess they are doing the water in/water out thing now? Just noticed this as of ~3am morning that it's up to the high 90s Cms(pretty much the same as the flow on the cochrane side) Guess fishing is going to be spotty for a few days?

Yeah my korkers fell apart right away too. More the boot material started to decay. Almost like when when you leave rubber out in the sun-just cracked and broke up. Shoo goo those and get a few more miles until you buy Simms guide boots. Just remember to keep it thin otherwise your boot will feel very stiff.

Just wondering if anyone has tied steelhead skater type flies for the bow? How has the response been?

Make sure the fly is leading the parade Still can be having a bad drift if your indicator is ahead of your fly. Small little lifts every few sections will improve your take detection and make up for the difference in current speed between the surface and bottom of the river.

The only aspect the bvk is limited in is it's fit and finish- Which shouldn't be ignored. If you have been fishing Shakespeare's your entire life, a tfo will feel like a dream. but if you've had any high end rods, it's kinda hard to get over the slightly cheap feel despite how nicely it casts. If you've got the money burning a hole in your pocket, you'll be more proud of a higher end rod, but if you're slightly strapped, bvk is a good option. I'd say it's action is moderate-fast with it being on the fast side of that rating. That being said, I think I paid around 300 for my sage fli's about 10 years ago, and I've always liked those rods. So you can get a big name with good quality for similar price. Another nice moderate action rod is the sage vxp, which is a few years old and may be able to find a used one in your price range.

Just swing it slow through any holding water.

Hmm...the caddis I found around Mother's Day this year were large and again, tan. I did hear findings like yours from other guys around that time, though. How often do you guys run into green or yellow?

The long arm showboat. Getting real tired of "creative" shots on wide angle lenses making fish looking artificially large. Not saying that's not a big fish. But it looks like it's a taimen.

Is there any pattern to the colour coming off throughout the year? (Other than October caddis) cheers B

No mention of needing it in print in the three places this is written. You can sign documents digitally using "'mark up." Hell, I put offers on houses with digital signatures last summer. Based on what I've found, If a CO fined you, it wouldn't hold up.

Just got back from the castle area. Place was crawling with co's. Got checked. Good to see them out. Caught some *hit for having a digital license only. Still pisses me off that a deal is made about that. But he let me go.

Ya I see your point. If you go to the bc regs page there is a breakdown of the numbers (total) but no way to see which days were purchased. Would also be nice to know, as maybe aug 2 has 100 people on the river whereas aug 3 has 2. That may influence your choice of dates.

Well, bcube, my friend. I presume it was weighted towards more availablity during high time, as there are fewer spots available as you move later and later through sept and October. (Also the length of fishable water on the wigwam shortens) If it was all equal, one would presume there would be more slots available in October 16-31 than aug 1-15. (There are 25 in that aug slot and 1 in that October slot) I punched in various dates and none were blocked out as long as that two week period still had days open (which they all did August 1 onward). This leads me to believe they don't limit the number of anglers on any particular day. It's just per two week period. There isn't a conspiracy.

an uproar from bc? Haha. I've said it here before--there isn't exactly a convoy of bc residents flocking to Alberta every weekend. Quite the opposite is true. Why travel when you have dozens of rivers in your backyard. Yes some do head out in the spring, when most of their streams are closed. However, if there was a change, they'd probably just say screw it, I'll fish one of the dozens of trophy lakes in my backyard--they're staring at an indicator either way! (Or just go spring steelheading?) I talked to one of the biologists in cranbrook that was responsible for these changes, last season before they came out. Nothing ever came up about financial gain. The intent was merely to reduce pressure on these systems, while preserving it for the residents of the province. Sure the increase in revenue is nice, but I doubt it was the core principle.

Were there any other lesions? I've seen cutties with furunculosis. Starts off looking like red acne/pimples. Low water may have him scraping bottom more often?

Did that steelheading in the lower mainland once. Wet waded in February. Ha
