If you are handy you can make a jig to make em. I usually twist a few during the winter in various sizes. My jig will do a 9 ft. If you search the web I'm sure you can find instructions. It's not hard but takes a bit of time. Lethfisher say's he buys em on ebay for 5 bucks. Great deal. I make avariety of them for dry and wet fly use.

Deep clousers in olive and white. Zoo cougars are also great.

Streamers on a sinking line is the way to go. Let your line sink deep.

Unless like me you chased a large Steelhead 100 yards around a bend and discovered a bridge with no way around - "snap".

A leader can last a couple of seasons if treated right. Use a loop to loop to add some tippet to the end. That way you're not cutting into your main leader changing the taper. Change your leader when you start feeling nicks, kinks and abrasions. Or you see sun damage. yes if you cut fly line (I cut mine to achieve custom weights, tapers and end loops.) It should be sealed somehow. Superglue works great along with nail polish etc. If the tip sinks it's waterlogged and often will stay that way. If you want a leader that lasts and is less subject to abrasion check out furled leaders. They are more expensive (unless like me you make your own) but last much longer. You might also try making your own tapered leaders. They also work great.

Braid is great for bodies but be sure you weight it, from my own experiences it does tend to trap air for quite a while changing the buoyancy dynamics of the fly.

Use deet only on my hat and outer clothes. Keep it off my hands as it eats fly line and plastic. I have a mosquito mesh coat that I wear when they get bad.

For a classic mudder, use something like the barrel of a pen to pack your deer hair back to get a tighter head. Look for finer deer hair, elk work also. Working with tinsel can be tricky. Make sure you start with an even base of thread upon which to build the tinsel body. If the under warps are not perfectly smooth your tinsel will not be smooth. Start it just behind where the head stops, You are aiming for close touching wraps without overlaps. Spiral wrap the tinsel to the rear of the body and back again to the tying in point, wrapping the tinsel in the same direction as the thread. One of my favorite flies. It can imitate a bait fish stone fly or grasshopper.

A lock in for 5 years at a certain rate. looked good I signed the contract, he then phoned in my order. Something didn't smack quite right call it gut feel. I started giving my info on the phone asked what kind of company they where and she said they where a small company. OOps not a good answer. I decided to back out and told the gal on the phone so. Grabbed my signed contract from him and said I wanted to think about it for the day. He was quite agitated and said I would loose money not sighing up, too much pressure for my taste. I plugged in their local phone number with the better Business Bureau (from a business card with a poor logo) no such place. Got on line and checked them out at the BBB site. result This organization is not a BBB Accredited business. Based on BBB files, this company has an unsatisfactory record BBB Definition: unsatisfactory record - A company has an "unsatisfactory business performance record" with the BBB is based on the experiences reflected in BBB files. This file condition results when the company has failed to resolve or respond to complaints, repeatedly failed to respond or resolve issues in a timely manner, failed to resolve the underlying issues etc. This my be an OK company but after searching the internet for more info and reading most peoples energy bill goes up and it takes $1,000 to buy out of the contract. I thanked my stars that I have the origninal contract in my hands. any other experiences out there? Let the buyer beware and reasearch.

I had a very small problem with one of my Nor auto-bobbins , Ed phoned me and sent me a part very quickly. This was 3 years after purchase. Excellent service for an great vice and a lot of accessories. Fantastic tube attachment also.

Found this Classic Milwards Bamboo rod when I was out in BC, at first I thought it was a spey rod, but it's too short. Furrules fit really nice. Very tight clean rod. Perhaps a Salmon rod. Have to do some research. All Agate eyes that could use a bit of polishing. I may do a restoration on it. It was pure black with grime when I bought it but have it cleaned up nicely. Hard to resist Bamboo. Always looking for rods to restore.

Love my Nor-Vise and tie on it all the time now. I also own a Renzetti Traveler and have owned a HMH and Peak. You really should try a variety of vices and see which one suites you.

The road to Oyama was surprisingly good. Didn't need to have the truck in 4x4. Guys where hauling trailers and motor homes up there. It's good gravel most of the way with a few stretches of potholes that you can weave yourself around.

Brother-in-law was at beaver several times in the last weeks and it's fishing great. Lots of dry fly action. He was also having a lot of luck with some green Spratleys that I left him.

When the whether is cool i like my Gillie Vest with the large back insert. I can pack a day's goodies and a thurmus of coffee nicely in the back. When it's really hot in the summer I carry a creel. Nice and light with enough room for what I need and it also keeps sandwiches and pop cool.

That's where a long rod really comes into it's own. I love a spey rod for that very reason. Long reach even for high sticking.
