  1. Nice fish Steve! I made out pretty well there after you left, but nothing like that brown. No pike either:)
  2. Just bought one this year for my 8 wt. love it on lakes, like it on big rivers. My only complaint is the loop to loop gets caught in my line guides, but saves huge $ on lines an spools. Found it casts almost as well as most sink tips. Great for unknown waters where you're not sure what gear you need on your pontoon.
  3. Absolutely not! I generally only fish the bow in the winter, once the crowds have dwindled. I could support a closure during the spawn if the science backed it up, but I love those chinook days when I can bust out the fly rod and leave the auger at home.
  4. That sucks Taco. Friggin jaywalkers! I wrote off my ranger on a mulie near Sundre last month. Insurance paid out exactly what I felt the truck was worth, and now I have a 4runner which I'm really happy with. Hope it works out just as well for you. Loss of use worked well for me, I was leaving town for work the next week, so I just rented a Cadillac for the weekend. Budget probably wouldn't be happy if they saw the holes on the little red I made it to in their CTS.
  5. If there is anywhere you could catch 70 fish in 2 hours, it's Picklejar. I caught about 50 there in about 2 hours, and still had time to throw a stick for my dog. I floated the bow saturday and caught 2. Unfortunately, that is an exaggeration.
  6. I love my Rio Gold. It doesn't throw dries at long distances as well as Sharkskin, but as an all-round line, it can't be beat.
  7. That's perfect! I love it on my 5wt, but I miss the GPX on my 3wt VT2. I find the sharkskin doesn't turn over as well on short casts. I fished the hell out of both weights this summer, and i thought they held out quite well. Worth every penny imho.
  8. I'm stuck in Fort St. John and the rivers aren't any better up here. Heading to Jasper next week, hopefully I can find some decent fishing there. Managed to catch some dinky rainbows by Rainbow Lake the other day at least.
  9. Those larva-lace ones look deadly.
  10. Thanks Din.
  11. I like! Mind sharing the recipe?
  12. I've only ever voted green. Not even really sure I'd want them in charge, but as long as that's a pipe dream, voting for them sends the cons's a good message about where people's priorities are.
  13. Done. Thanks rev, knew you'd take my confession.
  14. $40 on #23. If I wasn't quite so unemployed at the moment, there would be a bidding war on that jet and float.
  15. I don't think I could even describe how I do it, but I find whitefish much easier to debone and filet than trout. If you cook it with the bones in, the meat will slide right off the bones once it's cooked. Edit; that's right, I have bonked a trout before.
