Well my season has been pretty good for the most part and I will hit close to the 200 day mark again this year. I spent the majority of my fishing time on the water this spring/summer collecting/studying insects, developing/practising my Spey fishing skills and experimenting with different fly patterns/leader systems to swing for each of the hatches. Not as much Trophy hunting as I normally like to do, bieng busy with the practise/study sessions, but I still have a very adequate trophy photo album to brag about. Best Rainbow of 07' is 25" (so far), Best Brown of 07'and personal best trout, at 29". (I'm not finished yet). Best trout on the dry, 26" Broonie. Best week on the Bow river, 125 Trout landed in 7 days. Best day on the Bow river, 32 Trout landed. The season is now in high gear for some Trophy fishing (practise is over) and I still have a week of Steelie/Coho fishing to do on the Skeena and its tributaries, as well as nightly Trophy Hunts on the Bow till freeze up.

Nice trout Tibore. How's the swinging coming along. Any of these trout caught on the swing, surface or nymph?
-
I would recommend the pfleuger trion's or president series, available at Wholesale sports. A better quality reel than the Tioga's, IMO and I have fished with both brands of reel.
-
Great advice flyslinger and I would add, Otters do not slap their tails, but beavers do and quite loudly.
-
Have you fished with the heavier tips yet?
-
Nice...Good to hear they are starting to show up. 5 more days and we'll be joining you folks. Can't wait. How are the river conditions, weather, angling traffic?

That's a pimped out fishing machine Birchy. You just need the cool rod racks and you're good to go. -
This is my favorite winter Rainbow pic, taken in mid March/07'. The fishing was spectacular on the Bow River, in Feb/March of this year. Photo by:Hydropsyche Hydropsyche crawls to the edge and nets the big Rainbow while Bhurt shoots the vid. What pals eh. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DVW72t5kSt0 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmFdIHGvG_Q It can get a little frosty now and then.... A very damp and chilling -15C in February/07', but the fishing was terrific with a dozen trout landed. Photo by: Bhurt

Winter Fishing And Hard Water Fishing
toolman replied to cdock's topic in General Chat - Fishing Related
I'm up for it too, Esleech. I have done a ton of ice fishing in years gone by, mostly on frozen salt water, but a few outings on lakes as well. It's always a lot of fun. -
Now lets not get carried away here...ignore what has been said...All of the trout are in Fish Creek Park, so do not leave the park...I repeat... do not leave the park. Thank you. ps. FH...WTF?

That's right Birchy and a beauty Bow too...nice fall colors, dark purple stripes.

brwndawg, We also don't allow business, outfitters or private guides, to post about their problems with suppliers, customers, manufacturers and associates either. We remain neutral and won't get involved with the business that is bieng conducted between the shops and their suppliers, associates, customers, members. Hope this makes our position clear to everyone.
-
Thanks for posting mkm and I am happy to hear that the guide finally contacted you and tried to make things right. On that note...I'm going fishing with Birchy.
-
Ahhh....NO. If you re-read the posts that I have made thus far, I have clearly explained our position and feel that it is reasonable. You obviously don't agree with it and I understand and respect your view. I have to live in this community as well and I am not about to make a bunch of enemies by allowing any bashing of the local business's or members. Sorry, but that's the way it is. We come to this site to enjoy, enhance and share our flyfishing experiences. That's it. No other motives. There may be other sites that allow the kind of free for all you seem to be looking for, but not this one. bock... bock... bock....
-
brwndawg, Well first of all, we have never banned a single member from this site. Secondly, bock, bock, bock....LOL. That is funny stuff man, I'm in tears...LOL.
-
That is sad indeed. Thanks for the follow up.
-
wow...brilliant...flame away. I'm not even getting warm.

Rob (pipestoneflyguy), that would be a 12'6" pole...grin Rob (DutchDryFly), the thing is, if we allow one person to post their complaints, it would only be fair of us to have to allow the business operator a chance to present their side of the story and we feel a court room is a better place for that to happen, rather than a flyfishing site. Even better, they could discuss it privately with the business/person they have a problem with, which usually ends in a resolution. If someone feels they have been treated unfairly, then they have the option to take the appropriate legal actions to recoup any perceived financial damages, through our court system. As for freedom of speech, we have many laws governing our speech in Canada, as you also have in the Netherlands.

We are attempting to protect the integrity of this site. There are always a lot of whiners just looking to vent their petty fustrations, as shown by the posts on this thread. As for us protecting our friends, I know almost every guide in southern Alberta, so yes, he may be a friend of mine, I don't know, nor do I care. This has always been our policy at FFC and we have no plans on changing it. We are all about positives, not negatives. But hey, vent away, it sure is entertaining. Who's next?
-
I don't think the admins and moderators do a bad job of keeping this site a decent, friendly place for all to enjoy. To speculate that we are somehow incompetent or idiots, is not fair, nor respectfull. We try and maintain harmony in our fishing community and have no desire to see this site become a place for people to come and vent their problems with the business community. (There's always two sides to the story) Any business will have a few unhappy customers that will slam them publicly, given the opportunity. We don't give them the opportunity, as it just becomes a *hit show that we won't be part of. Now you can disagree with our policy if you wish and call us names and hang labels on us if that's your style, but we won't change the policy. Pretty simple.
