  2. Been trying to get some of those hooks like the bottom flie for small nymphs any idea where you can get those hooks around here??
  3. Man they sure did well this year. Looks like the new selection process worked quite well!
  4. Well after 4 sessions canadas sitting at 8th overall out of a field of 18, donald tom was holdig 4th individual untill the 4th session and were doing pretty damn well. Things can change pretty quickly in a single session so i don`t think were out of medal contention yet!!!! Heres a link to check it out yourself http://www.2008worldflyfishingchamps.com/i...iewPage/Results Go Team Go!!!!
  5. Not sure abnout fishing over there but you will need a reel with sealed barrings, and you wont have to worry about your rod as long as you wash it throughly after use. Bauer, islander, lamson all make some nice sw reels.
  6. Sweet gonna order one today then. Looked at the g4 too but i like the look of the g3 better and there really isn't a big difference from the two except for price and colour, and i like the colour of the g3. So im pretty stoked on getting it.
  7. ANyone have experience with this jacket? Looking into getting it or the newer model. My biggest consern is the zipper, how "waterproof" it is.
  8. Oh the number of times I have seen this, most summer up untill the last i spent time on the chi and god is Quarryville ever a gongshow. but because of how productive that stretch is you can go there and not fish it! I think in comparison we have it pretty easy here. To give an example, fishing in quarryville with my uncle and great uncle all have fished the river there whole life. A local comes down with a thirty ought six. Walks to the top of the pool fires off a couple shots and yells " ANy one here from moncton?( the nearest big city) Then get the f*** out!" There is enough rock throwing and name calling to make you want to run for cover but the fishing is so good there when its good that people always go back. At least there is ettique there, you rotate the pool or you get a stone thrown at you hahaha. I was on the babine in august and say two guys almost get into a fist fight because one fella walked into the spot where he had been fishing after the other guy netted his 6th salmon sockeye of the mourning. That place is a gong show but once again, with the size of the fish and numbers on that river I myself was more then happy to tough out the crazys for some big hog sockeye. I just fished on the other side of the river where no one else was and hooked and landed more fish then most of the people standing shoulder to shoulder. I guess that what im trying to say is we have it pretty lucky for the most part, there arn't really the crazys of the salmon rivers and once june 16th comes around if you really want a piece of water to your self where there are big fish you don't have to look to to hard. Its just this time of year with limited fishable/open water people sure get crammed like sardines in all the usually known spots.
  9. Sweet yeah, I was thinking of hittin up the kitimat because I was there in the summer and it was a fun river to fish. Thanks for the info
  10. Now that the roads opened up alot of fellas are trying to take a boat up the river. Make sure you know whatd your doin if you are because its something like 10 miles of open ocean between the road and the mouth of the river, and once you get to the river gitting up the river is no easy feat. But hell i have no idea of your plans. Just a heads up!
  11. Anybody have any experience with this river system , or the kitimat that time of year?? Im headed to smithers end of march and want to go searching for steel. Anybody know if there are any runs in that time of year? I have only fished the salmon runs in the summer there. Haven't had a chance to chase steelies there yet, so just wondering if its possible that time of year?
  12. Thats like saying all people of the muslim faith are terrorist extremist, or that martimers are commercial fishermen. You might witness that but it sure as hell doesn't make it right. I mean come on you would think in todays day in age you would understand that comments like that are just unacceptable. Anyways back to the real problem, ladystrange you make a good point about salary's being barely able to pay off student loans, let alone costs of living. I guess this is why things like stream watch are so important for our waters, because how many times has this happened before but gone unnoticed? I would be willing to bet to many times, oh well better put my money were my mouth is and walk the dog along the elbow and a cell and binoculars and do my part to help...
  13. Gotta ditto toolman here, opinion or not thats a low blow. I have a friend with that last name, who sure as hell would never consider poaching let alone keep a fish.
  14. I have the greys 10ft 4wt streamflex, its a fantastic rod, sage z-axis comes in a 10ft 4wt which i uderstand is nice. The loop rod maxwell was talking about is pretty sick, tried a slovakian competitiors in 3wt this summer and really liked it. But for value the streamflex is were its at.
  15. haha you got it! Mostly the bluey, the runout in portland creek, the feeders on portland creek pond, upper humber, and the aidies river(i think?). How about yourself brownstone??
  16. Yeah man its hard to go farther east on the island when you got salmon taking taking bomber on a glassy pool!
  17. I fished there once in march by the duck pond, some beauty brownies there eh? I would love to get back there sometime, most of the time we just hit the westcoast and south Lab for salmon and sea run brookies. Looking forward to hear more about fishing on the Avalon!
  18. I have only spey fished once but would love to get out on the river with ya none the less!!
  19. Me and my buddy were up on the highwood, we had a sick day of fishing. Come back to the car to find that its completetly trashed and that we can drive. Hide in the ditch while some local drunks go up and down the road looking for us packing god knows what. The other people that came back to find their car found them there with our metal rod tube they stole from our car. Finaly get picked up by a cop who takes us to the police station, makes us wait outside, now its 1:30 am and its cold, says hes going to break up a bar fight, doesn't come back, 2:30 our ride pulls in to the station and we leave. At least that hatch that evenign made up for it!!
  20. Hey courtney great to finaly get to meet and thank you in person for all the help you have been for us this past summer! Hope you had a pleasent drive back!! John
  21. I have had best luck with caddis green patterns, and tied some in red to try and imitate that deadly SJW. Also hears ear dub with a red hotspot between the hares ear abdomen and the black head. Here is a good site to try some patterns www.czechnymphs.com and www.czechnymph.com
