I am contemplating picking up a 2 weight rod/reel for smaller streams as the wife says I need to give her ideas for a Father's Day present, but was hoping I could get a few opinions from those who have used a 2 weight. I currently fish a 4 weight on all streams, is there a huge difference between the 2 and 4. Is a 2 weight worth it? I realize casting distance will be less, how large of flies can a 2 weight handle? Thanks in advance for your reply.

Hey Bigfry, where did you buy the Trillion p? And how much did it run you? Spot spraying my weeds with roundup is getting ridiculously expensive as they keep coming in from the neighbors yard..

Province Wide Temp. Ban On Atv's
ppb replied to SilverDoctor's topic in General Chat - Not Fishing Related (NFR)
This ban was encourage by ohv riders. "This action comes in response to the request of the Alberta Off-Highway Vehicle Association" So my thinking would be that if the association is encouraging a ban on themselves than there must be some real concerns with the machines starting a fire and make a horrible situation worse.. But hey you know better than all other riders so go ahead and rip up wiarprous , I just wouldn't want to be the one responsible for starting the next forest fire while going against the ban.. -
I just find it sad that these people don't have any respect for our lands. It's ridiculous that people don't hold themselves to a higher standard when using public lands, as you said fishinglivin I'm sure they would be upset if we did this to their land, so why is it ok for them to do this to all of our public lands. We need more enforcement, when you look at the eastern slopes from the castle all the way up to the ram, these issues are prevalent and only getting worse. Unless we get more enforcement, stiffer fines that make these people think twice about their actions and a change in attitude about how as individuals we use public lands I'm affraid it will reach a point where our lands will be destroyed. What will it take for the govt to see and realize that unless more enforcement and stiffer fines are what we need to protect our eastern slopes..

It unfortunate but this problem just doesn't seem like it will end anytime soon. I've ice and rock climbed in the ghost valley for many many years and it just keeps getting worse, just like the castle and Livingston ranges.. http://globalnews.ca/news/2655045/litter-vandalism-in-ghost-valley-are-growing-concern/

Calgary Next......next!

I believe our tax dollars could be spent much wiser in this city than building a new stadium for a bunch of billionaires.. http://www.calgarynope.com/ -
Tulo for Reyes was a awesome trade, the jays are better team offensively and defensively because of it. Love that they picked up Price but wish they wouldn't have give up Norris for a rental player as Price will be gone to the highest bidder next year.. All we need is for the bullpen to step up and stop giving away games in the late innings. It's great to see Roger's spend a little money and make a big push for the playoffs, I think the fans are finally getting what they have hoped for for way to long.

http://calgaryherald.com/storyline/how-much-did-two-off-road-users-get-fined-for-joyriding-in-the-river-a-record-1500-each Great to see the judicial system recognizing the impact to the environment and giving out some stiff fines. Let's hope the precedent allows for more large fines against the disrespectful off roaders. I would love to see the RCMP special task force be green lighted, it may help change some attitudes of some off roaders and the impact they have on the rivers and streams.

Good Discounts On Gear

I can reassure you that the company "the clymb" is a great and reputable business if you are thinking of placing any orders. I have placed over 15 orders with them over the past two years and have had 100% satisfactory service and have saved $100's on boots, shoes, clothing etc. If you have use of an American address as I do (thanks in-laws) I would recommend the site. -
Good Discounts On Gear

The clymb is a great site with tons of great deals, but as of now they do not ship to Canada. So unless you have a place in the states to have your items shipped you are out of luck. -
Agree with everything you have said. I made a trip to the Livingstone two weekends ago for the first time this year and was blown away at how bad the litter and destruction has progressed from past years. we drove around to various points on the river and were amazed with all the garbage, the multiple fire rings every 20 feet, and the amount of trees chopped or lumber nailed into trees. I used to go to the Livingstone range quite a bit in the past to relax, unwind and do a little flyfishing. It's become much harder to relax and unwind with the constant sounds of shotguns, fireworks, atv's and wild parties into the wee hours. Guess i'm going to have to find another location in alberta to frequent. I've never been up to the Ram system, is it the same type of BS up there as well??

The funnel you speak of is specifically made for women so they can stand up and whiz while wearing a climbing harness. Don't see how that would ever work with waders and your lower half being submerged under water. Just saying.

Sorry for straying from the list, I think we who did stray from the list are probably in the same mindset in thinking that you shouldn't limit yourself to a small selection of reels just because they will be on sale in a couple months. You should find the reel that you like and gives you the best bang for the $$. Just my opinion.

I picked up a Lamson Konic this spring and love it, has the same drag as their more expensive reels for a lot less $$$. The finish on the reel could be more eye appealing but overall its a great reel.

Put A Power Boat Ban On The Bow
ppb replied to Fishslayer74's topic in General Chat - Fishing Related
So the walk and waders, drift boats, recreational floaters all want the jet boats banned The walk and waders, jet boats and rec floaters want the drift boats banned the jet boats and drift boats and walk and waders want the rec floaters banned and all the private property owners and enviromentalist want everyone banned so where does this leave us? Who wins in the end? This whole thread smells of Jealousy and greed. Unless every type of user on the river starts to respect the other user groups and respects the environment ie. littter, etc then we are all going to see the gov't move in and put restrictions on everyone of us which in my opinion is not a step in the right direction. So lets all grow up be civil and respect one another or we will lose our PRIVALEGE to use the bow the way we enjoy! -
Put A Power Boat Ban On The Bow
ppb replied to Fishslayer74's topic in General Chat - Fishing Related
I love how everyone loves to throw the BAN word around when they disagree with something the person next to them is doing . The percentage of jet boats to drift boats on the bow is small. I have had drift boats, jet boats and pntoon boats go through my runs while wading the bow so does that mean we should BAN all boats on the bow? My big question is why do we care so much about those who guide on the Bow? Everyone has complained about how busy the river is getting and what effect these jet boats will have on guides, fly shops and tourists coming to fish our waters. Well if we limit the guides using the Bow for personal gains would it not relieve the stress of overcrowding and in return lessen the problems we all run into on this busy river system? And for those who would like to see motorized boats banned like on the Elk, should we follow in BC's footsteps and charge extra fees for every non-resident on the Bow? At the end of the day it all comes down to respecting your fellow angler and the river itself, and if everyone where to do so the river system would be a much more pleasent place to fish. Unfortunately you will always have a few rednecks who like to show off there jet boat and are asses just like you will always have guides who will paddle infront of other drift boats and take there water so that their client(s) will hopefully get their $550 worth. -
Does the gorrilla glue dry black like that or did you paint or colour with a marker after they dried. The ants looks great!

I lost my Panasonic digital camera on the Highwood a ouple of weekends ago. It's black in color in a black zip up case with a couple of extra batteries and memory card in it. If any good soul has come across it that would make me a very happy guy. Thanks
